Cartoon Network Shows keep getting removed from streaming as Max is now getting rid of Ed Edd n Eddy, Ben 10 and The Powerpuff Girls after removing shows and movies such as OK KO, Steven Universe: the Movie, Codename Kids Next Door, Close Enough and more over the last 2 years. Why does Max keep purging shows, and what does the future of Cartoon Network on streaming look like?

At this point W.B. Discovery isn't even caring about Cartoon Network and just keeps it around out of because. They have been focusing more on Adult Swim more.

Adult Swim is at least the closest to Cartoon Network they care about. But even then, that's not saying much.
I just don't understand why are people just abandoning animation. It's such a good platform and they're just throwing it away for no reason.

Honestly, to me...Zaslav only made the merger to get the streaming service. He could care less about WB's content, he just wanted the subscriber numbers and dollars from owning Max.

Zaslav DOSENT CARE or LIKE Warner Bros at all. He came from Discovery and was appointed randomly to the top. He HATES that Discovery is seen lesser than WB. Hence, why HBO Max turned into just Max.
And that's why I said he only bought WB to get at Max; he gets their subscribers to watch his content.
Apparently, now it comes with the bonus of having other streaming services - Hulu & Netflix - paying him for said content.
Not to mention, unless I've missed something, Discovery+ still exists as its own thing and I think for cheaper.
What’s worse is that Cartoon Network still wouldn’t give lots of complete series DVD sets to their almost all of their shows despite their removals from streaming as a whole. Look how many complete series DVD sets of CN shows are in the United States:

It's not just animation. Zaslav has been burning bridges with all other aspects of Warner Bros like canceling live action like "Our Flag Means Death," scrapping films like "Batwoman" & "Coyote Vs Acme" after they were completed, shutting down Rooster Teeth, and losing TNT's distribution rights to the NBA
The only thing he hasn't touched is Turner Classic Movies because Stephen Spielberg & Martin Scorsese threatened him

I just want to remind people that nobody asked for Disney Plus or HBO Max or The Daily Wire Plus or Peacock. I’d rather these shows stream on platforms we already had!
HBO Max was actually good when it first came our. Before the Warner Brothers Blood Bath. Zazlav is a monster.
I liked the world better where there were only two options. Cable or satellite, much simpler and better times.

The more I see WB just delete all these classics that really deserve to be preserved, including the Eds, the more I'm convinced Warner Brothers as a company is going to collapse on itself by the end of the year. I don't see the point of subscribing to Max when they have nothing to offer now. All they're doing is ensuring no one will ever want to come to their platform and instead favor Netflix for actually having the classic cartoons people want to watch.

It's definitely not a coincidence that physical releases and cable airings for legacy CN and Warner shows are suddenly amping up more and more while Max is bleeding all these. The more purchases they get from desperate customers, the better.
Shockingly, many of these purged shows are still on LatAm Max so... that's interesting and bizarre.
They seem to plan on shutting down the service.
HBO Max was potentially the best streaming service before the merger. Besides The Last of Us and Justice League, I don't even know what exclusives they have anymore.
At least they still have all the Ghibli films and Godzilla movies (for now)

And the Ed, Edd, n Eddy "Complete" dvd set doesn't even have the movie or the holiday specials! I hope they get another rerelease with those in the future, especially since the upcoming Dexter set, supposedly, WILL have Ego Trip!
At this point, Max is the worst place for animation anyway. So I’ll just stick to checkered past on adult swim to rewatch the Ed’s.
They don’t have the Christmas, Halloween, or Valentine’s Day specials or Ed Edd n Eddy’s Big Picture Show on the Ed Edd n Eddy complete series DVD.
Even if they remove them we will never forge them

Two Cartoon Network shows that got to be on streaming in the U.S. only one time are Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken. They were on Netflix in the U.S. along with other CN shows from 2013 to 2015. They ended up being exclusive to the Latin America version of Max because of Tooncast.
also, i hate that i have to succumb to the time clock of streaming a show before it disappears forever. that's exhausting; like, can i just be in the mood to watch a show, stop and then come back to it later? i hate this

Physical Media and Pirating is now the only way to preserve Cartoon Network's legendary library of animated cartoons!
We need a streaming service that is only dedicated to Cartoon Network shows.
I wish Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers would put all of the Cartoon Network shows not only on streaming services but also on physical media, DVD and Blu-ray. Heck some shows don't even have a DVD set with all the episodes.

They refused to listen, thinking streaming and Apple TV connecting to MAC was the better option.

Good thing i got my dvd copy of the series last year. Moments like this are why i do my best to get physical copies of my favorite shows and movies. Cause its has been said many times from so many people the saw this coming a mile away when it came to streaming.

Ben 10 disappearing from max is the thing that pisses me off the most, like all of em except the og ben 10 aren’t even available on other streaming services you have to actually just pirate them
I don't think W.B. Discovery realizes how much fucking money they could make off of the older crowd by having a standalone CN/Boomerang Streaming Service. I mean, they should put EVERYTHING UP THERE. CN, Adult Swim, Boomerang, Specials, Movies, MAYBE EVEN CN REAL. I'm sure SOMEBODY would watch it.
Also, Hulu...add season 5 of SU. They have only had seasons 1-4 for years, and now they have the movie and Future. Literally everything Steven Universe BUT SEASON 5!
If Grim Adventures ever leaves MAX, then it should get a complete series home video release so it can still be watched by fans.
If I remember correctly, aquaman king of atlantis was supposed to be a max original... crazy how this didn't stop it from getting removed
Not just that. Many DC movies are also being removed, even though HBO's original streaming service focused on that
It should be noted that it's not the entire series that will be leaving Max at the end of May; only specific seasons:
PPG Season 1
Ed 3 - Season 4
Ben 10 - Season 1
Ben 10: Race Against Time
Also, both PPG and Ben 19 are on Netflix. If you also have Netflix, you're good to go.

1 "hey Netflix and Hulu are really popular and sucessful, why don't we take our IPs from them and make our own streaming service!"

3. "Wow maintaining a massive server is really expensive, guess we'll have to raise our prices as well as remove some titles to save some money."
4. "Now people aren't happy their favorite shows and movies aren't on our service. Let's just put them on Netflix and collect a check. Better than nothing."
5. "Apparently my friends from X other major corporation are also struggling to maintain their streaming service. Let's bundle with them for the same price as a basic cable subscription. What could go wrong!"

I want to fix what I said about the Discovery Inc about Warner Bros Discovery. It's not Discovery Inc that hates animation, it's David Zaslav who hates animation.
David Zaslav thinks animation its just for kids and therefore can be taken away. Ignoring the fact that a massive portion of MAX subscribers are there to watch their favorite animated cartoons they grew up watching in their childhoods.

Okay this needs to be clarified, Ed, Edd n Eddy is still available on the streaming service Max, and it's still available on Prime Video, however Season 3 is not on Prime Video, so all Seasons 1-5 is still on Max.

I've noticed a lot of the Scooby-Doo shows are being moved to Tubi. What's New Scooby-Doo was the latest one. Mystery Incorporated is still on the platform and so is What's New Scooby-Doo, but it's also been on Netflix as well as The Batman animated series, which also still on Max.
I'm so glad I got Ed Edd n Eddy on DVD.
I know this is unrelated but they also pulled the plug on some classics. They’ve removed Pleasantville, Some Like It Hot, and even Grease is leaving. Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, an animated movie based on the 60s Batman TV show, was also removed. Man, streaming services are becoming uber crappy! 🙄

I really hope a Complete Series boxset for DC Super Hero Girls comes out, since it's been unavailable to watch legally over the past years.

Already cancelled when infinity train got axed. Cant cancel it any further
i don't know if it's the same for other countries, but the series going to netflix isn't a fully positive either. I've found that adventure time only has the 4 first seasons while max had them all (albeit heavily censored), netflix now has scooby doo mystery inc but only starting from season 2, making it unwatchable from how heavily serialized it is, and other shows it either only has the first season, or a random season that skips the beginning.

Adults from the 90’s and early 2000’s. Unless you love animation. No adults are in a hurry to watch cartoons. When’s the last time you’ve seen a cartoon trending? Adventure Time was probably the last pop culture giant cartoon.
