    Lol this was always how I shredded and people always lectured me about 'crashing my metabolism' and ruining my hormones.... etc, etc. I got suggested to reverse diet by 100 calories, and so much more complicated riducolous sht, but for me this method always worked perfectly without a fault. But the slow method never worked for me and neither did slow 'reverse dieting'. Just like you, I eat roughly 1500 calories with 10k steps whenever I want to shred, and I shred really fast, then jump back to my maintainence at 2500 calories/eat at slight surplus at 2800 calories and it works for me year round without any problems.

    I honestly love this so much, 'crash dieting' is what works best for me for a variety of reasons. It's how I (accidently) went from morbidly obese to a healthy weight years ago. But the more I learned the more I felt anything more than 500 calories would be unhealthy/dangerous/kills all my muscle, etc. But I can't do the 500 calories, I can fast, I can drastically reduce my calories, but the long small deficit-slog has failed me.
    This makes bulking a lot less daunting and my body definitely shows the best results with it. Thank you for putting this information out there to kill the fear.

    My cal deficit would be at 1800 that I was planning for after this bulk in two weeks.
    I'm glad I watched your videos because even at that ive heard a lot of negatives about staying in deficits too long so I just had a bunch of questions and misconceptions answered. Im going to try out 1,000 as my first cut, should save a bunch of money on groceries 🤑 which is an added plus haha but also the fact that even at 1,800 I'd be in a deficit makes it mentally feel . . .mmm less taxing because stressing about eating EXACTLY 1,800 seemed to be the most annoying thing. So knowing I can stay at 1-1,200 and if I eat a sweet or two because I have a sweet tooth I'm not really going to worry about the extra 2-300 cal I just ate because. . . I'm still in that deficit and I didn't just eat enough sweets or whatever to put me into maintenance and that day just went to waste on the fat loss. So I actually love this method. Can't wait to try it out in 2 weeks!!

That number in the studies corresponds to weight with the assumption of a certain P-ratio i.e. it factors in some loss in lean body mass. The number of calories it takes to lose 1kg of pure adipose tissue is actually 8260kcal.

John Meadows (RIP) openly admitted his use of PEDs and I admire his transparency surrounding this issue, which is rare in the fitness world. I think it's important for people to have a realistic sense of what kinds of physiques are achievable naturally and which likely require chemical enhancement. My hope is that more folks in the fitness community will honor John's memory by being honest about their use of PEDs.

    Its interesting for myself as i am natural but need to drop some considerable fat down to at least 240lb from 300lb right now, Usually keto and fasting works excellent for me, as long as the exercise isnt too intense, high reps to almost failure and lower level cardio really works while on no carbs. Cheers!

    I find your statement about 'yo-yo dieting' both helpful and hurtful. I say this because for the majority of human history, food scarcity for long periods has been the norm. A person could go between 1 month to 3 months without a good food supply and that was more normal. The human body is much more capable of going through these cycles than food being available all the time. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary to go through such depletion at least twice a year, and would likely be very beneficial to do. Taken to extremes, I would whole-heartedly agree this is not the best way to live.

    Would you somewhat approve of a similar "crash" diet that consists of protein powder (super cheap+easy to follow)? It likely will total under 1000 calories, tons of protein, and will certainly lose weight. I would add fiber supplement, multi vitamin, fish oil, creatine, and salt. Maybe also a tablespoon of avocado oil.

They say continuing 1000 cal meal plan for more than one week in any consecutive four-week period may lead to health complications and is not recommended.

    It's chronic calory restriction that makes you lose muscle. If accute caloric restriction would lead to muscle loss how would our ancestors be able to hunt if they didn't have luck for a week? In an accute state of fasting your adrenalin rises which leads to fat loss and your hgh rises aswell. Iirc there is a pathway in ketosis that also leads to muscle preservation.

    • @Siegbert85
      @Siegbert85 Год назад

      Our ancestors weren't bodybuilders though. They had the amount of muscle mass they needed for every day tasks. What we're trying to do is building up and keeping muscle mass we don't actually need.

I think the most I went without eating was 48 hours, then when I did I had something small. I have lost over 1 stone since then, gone from 83kg to 75kg and actually feel so much better for it physically. My strength is not up, but it is pretty much the same as it was when I was heavier, muscle tissue is still at a decent amount. The physical change has also helped my emotional and mental mindset.

    Crash Dieting is the only thing that has ever worked for me…..I drop my calories to 1000-12000 a day, no cardio and PowerLift train 2 times a week to maintain, I Refeed every 2 weeks to enjoy life…..and the fat just melts off…..I’m so in Ketosis I’m not even hungry……when I do the usual “eat 500 calories less than maintenance and do cardio” I’m literally day and night dreaming about food.
    Lyle McDonald has been talking about these type of approaches for years…..he was also talking about KETO before it got trendy and hippy.
