Hey, SIGA fans, this is Ken.
And today we're going to be
using our Meltell sealant to seal that window.
You know how much SIGA loves our tapes,
but tape isn't always the most appropriate solution
    for every situation.
So let's say you have a masonry opening, a brick facade where you're not
going to be able to hide that tape joint.
You're going to have to use a high-quality sealant to make sure
that keeps the weather out of your window rough opening. Meltell is a single modified
polymer sealant so there's no silicone.
So it's compatible with all of our tapes. Those tapes will stick to it. Meltell is also cold-weather friendly, which means we can install it
in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit without the need to keep it warm.
And depending on the width of the joint. Meltell is going to cure in
about 24 to 48 hours. It's also fully paintable
and extremely flexible. To apply the Meltell, SIGA offers a wonderful sealant gun
    with self-piercing tips.
SIGA also offers a great joint
smoothing tool with various radii. Yes, radii is the real word for it.
    So we know that
you know how to use a sealant gun, but there's a couple of little cool
features about the SIGA gun that you should know.
First of all, to insert the Meltell,
it's easier and you face less resistance
from air pressure. If you remove the tube
completely from the gun and put the metal in at that point.
Second is that our tips are self-piercing,
which means you don't need to create a mess trying
to cut the end of the bag open before you put the bag into the gun.
Now that your metal is in the gun, we're
going to go ahead and squeeze the trigger until that cartridge breaks
and you begin to see the sealant come out the end. All right.
    We know that
there are a lot of you out there who are seasoned
veterans at installing sealant. So this next tip might not be for you,
    but for those of you
who are just getting started, the best way
to get a nice, crisp, clean line after you've finished tooling
your sealant is to apply masking tape to the frame of the window
    before you apply your sealant.
    All right.
    So here
we already have our rough opening flashed.
Our backer rod is in that backer rod is really important for the long term
    success of your sealant install.
    So don't forget that part.
As you can see here, I am applying Meltell very generously
in a very slow and controlled manner.
We don't want to be fast and loose here
because we want to make sure that we have really good coverage
    in your sealant joint.
So now that we have our Meltell evenly
applied around the entire window, we want to take our joint smoothing tool
to make it look real pretty.
    Our joint smoothing
tool comes with multiple different radii.
We have an option between six, eight, ten
or twelve millimeters and today we'll be using the 12 millimeter
    for this particular joint.
When using the joint smoothing tool, make sure to use firm, even pressure
to get those beautiful curves in that sealant joint.
Don't be afraid to stop occasionally
    and clean
the excess, melt off your joint tool. If you find a spot
that isn't up to your standards, it's okay to go back and retool it. So if you're using our tape trick
and you have your joint tool to perfection and you're completely satisfied with it,
now is the time to begin removing that masking tape.
You want to remove that before
the sealant starts to skin over. And voila!
That is a perfectly sealed window with our metal sealant.
