Don’t get me wrong this boat looks really good, but the designs for the actual hull just look extremely dated. Another thing is that these boats are so heavy that you need to spend over 15k in motor just to have it run 80.
I was thinking it was a 21 and was a little disappointed with the speed. I just got one of the older 21 foot tritons with a 225 Merc EFI and it hits 73 with a 4 blade fury. The same setup is supposed to do around 75 fully loaded or 78 light loaded with a tempest. But with my 4 blade fury it gets out of the hole faster than my skeeter zx185 with a 175 Yamaha did
I used to have a 21' triton with a mercury racing 250 that would push 80 fully loaded with 2 people and with one passanger with a lighter load I had it up to 85. Those older tritons sure do like to chine walk until you learn it.

WOW 🤩 beautiful and SEXY boat..... 😃 awesome colors . Now that’s a RUSH . That Cat got attitude guys....... I’m going to say after fully breaking in 88.2 mph all day long..... and also beautiful stance on full top end..... Nice job guys 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👀👀👀👀😍😍😍😍 I am lost for anymore words
I truly feel that the jag w a 450 should run upwards of 100mph my Phoenix 21’6 inch with a 250 sho run about 72-74 tournament 2 people possibly not enough break in ?
Its a 400 but yea
In South Africa we got plenty of bass boats with mercurys between 350 and 450
Cause y’all all rich
@@trentonclark9747 🤣🤣 na dude its not that easy here
Dream boat🥵
What prop on the 400?
Excellent video!
Don’t get me wrong this boat looks really good, but the designs for the actual hull just look extremely dated. Another thing is that these boats are so heavy that you need to spend over 15k in motor just to have it run 80.
Had a Stratos 201 pro 21 ft 200hp Evenrude. It would do 70 all day long with 2 people.
I’d love to see how much freeboard the stern has full of fuel and someone fishing back there
better hope the bilge pumps work!!
My 2000 Stratos 22 SS extreme with a 225 Evinrude 25 pitch Renegade SS prop Tournament Loaded and just me runs 70 mph GPS. JS
But with my 4 blade fury it gets out of the hole faster than my skeeter zx185 with a 175 Yamaha did
the boat has not been fully broken in in this video. Bass Cat and Mercury fully expect this boat to be a high 80s low 90s boat.
I used to have a 21' triton with a mercury racing 250 that would push 80 fully loaded with 2 people and with one passanger with a lighter load I had it up to 85. Those older tritons sure do like to chine walk until you learn it.
@@masonkaye5 I have a 00 model tr20 with 200 opti that I’ve gotten 70 out of. Not really sure how much more I could get. But I only try it on special occasions
If your going to go 400R might as well go 450R and let her fly...Anything over 20ft is unlimited HP. Basscat is typically a fast hull, set up must not have been far enough back and propped wrong..easily should have been in 90s
My 20ft Bullet is unlimited , it would be very scary putting a 450r on it! Would I ? Yes 👍, but way too expensive!
I’m sorry but 83 is weak! My Phoenix 721 runs 85.6 with 300xs turning a 27 Fury, and runs 79-80 all day loaded with a 28.5 Bravo…
Nice boat and it could be the camera but it kind a looks like you’re getting tossed around a little bit there
we used GoPro Hero 8 series cameras for the in the boat running shots. the always tent to show more movement than there really is!
Man, I can get 68 mph on mines with 2 guys at 220 lbs plus, full tournament load, 5 31series agm batteries, and full tank. This is on my heavy astro 19ft with a 175hp xri
That's a fish tale if I ever heard it
I’m calling bull shit on this one!
Your probably going by that ancient speedo, now use your I phone, your actually doing 45mph! 😂
@Jerry Thao …. Probably 68 on your Speedo. Lmao
My 18 ft procraft will run 68 with a 150
Bass Cat ride puts Ranger to shame.Ive owned and ran both.
Skip to about 6:30 and avoid all the boredom. You’re welcome!
150hp more for 10-15mph gain???
What am I missing here? I thought the cats were a mid 70mph boat.
i think it's because it's a 22 footer.
I get that, but an extra foot shouldn't be a huge difference, 150hp is alot of power, i was expecting high 80's to low 90's.
Something is off here.
@@mikesaelee834 yeah i'm not paying 100k for that when you can get a bullet with a 250 that goes near 100
it weighs 2250 lbs 22ft. other boats are in the 1750-1950 lb range
@@mikesaelee834 but your not going to take a bullet out on the Great Lakes like you could with this Jaguar.
That big old motor needs a max 5 st or a clever!
My center console is almost as fast, what gives with so much power and only 83 on a BASS BOAT?!
My 20ft Bullet with 225 Mercury sports XS sportmaster lower unit, 84mph I think I can beat your 400R
You would drive off and leave it
that's what confuses me, I know multiple sub-250 hp motored boats thatll beat 82. somethings off with this setup
@@jacoblovell748 nothing us off, the boat has not been fully broken in in this video. Bass Cat and Mercury fully expect this boat to be a high 80s low 90s boat.
Challenge accepted my friend! The boat has not been fully broken in in this video. Bass Cat and Mercury fully expect this boat to be a high 80s low 90s boat.
we got a bullet 20xd with a 285 racing motor and it runs 99.8 on gps fully loaded, there's always someone faster haha
That thing looks badddd
I want!!!! 🤤
83mph with a 400 racing that boat has to weigh 3000lbs my old girl with 1 225 Pro XS 89MPH on gps full load two anglers oh I forgot to mention it was a competition haul Bullet 20XD
we got a bullet 20xd with a 285 racing motor and it runs 99.8 on gps its scary fast haha
I thought that 400 would be a lot faster! My 2014 ranger z521 loaded by myself full of fuel 50 gallons will do 71 mph all day long. Was thinking about getting a cat not sure now. I’ll subscribe to ur channel and see if u can sell me on this rig some more. Mine is a 2014 evinrude e tech
I completely agree.... I was thinking it would be a lot faster too. Not impressed. My old 929 loaded runs 71 with a 250 pro xs and it ain't light
Doubt your numbers, I just saying.
Seeing is believing. Come on up for a ride. No charge
After talking with Bass Cat as well as Mercury and we got the same message back from both companies! After the break in period the motor will loosen up and we fully expect to see an additional 3 to 5 mph out of the boat! We have already seen 86 out of this boat from the owner and with a skilled driver and good conditions we will see high 80s out of thus boat! If you have any more questions please feel free to give Andrew Y’Barbo our #1 Bass Cat sales men a call! (936)-465-5551
@@peteuk1988 I don’t doubt any of the numbers, this boat weighs over 1000 pounds more than my 20ft Bullet, and the motor weighs at least 150 to 200 pounds more than my 225! It’s all heavy!
No boat brand can keep up with the Phoenix’s. Fastest I’ve had my 920 with a 2 stroke merc 250 is 83, and 77 with a full tournament load, 3 people, full gas, and full live wells
Bullet
@@fbi1069 i was gonna say Allison or Bullet. they did over 86mph in an Allison back in the early 90's with a 150 looper Evinrude!
My 21xd bullet with same motor tournament load and two guys will walk away from that Phoenix pal.
I have a stroker boat with a 300 six cylinder two cycle it will out run this boat.jeff from k.c.
Was gonna say the same man among the big names in bass fishing like Skeeter, ranger, nitro, triton, Phoenix, Phoenix has em all beat right now ofc you’ll have the Allison’s and bullets but they don’t ride half as good and the fishabiliry in them is no where near
Yeah it looks like a very nice boat but my question is can you catch a fish going 80 miles an hour most of y’all would rather play with your toys then fish anyway
yup, you cant fish at 80mph, its all about , hey look at me shit
Stupid comment!
Can you catch a fish a fish at 40mph? 20? Its not built for guys like you then 😆
The boat has bow lift just sitting there, it sits in the water like a cork. Not good
That’s how all 20ft and up bass boats sit! Low in back, higher in front, just sitting in water!
Wow, I expected close to 80 on the other rig.
after the break in period of the 400hp Merc Verado you see a increase in speed. Bass Cat and Mercury have both said this will be a high 80s low 90s boat.
@@rossmotorsports2206 Don’t believe them, it’s cause that boat is big and heavy like the motor, but your boat is a awesome boat! I actually like all the brands, I’ve actually bought a brand new Bass Cat, it was my first boat at 19 years old! I own my 20ft Bullet w 225 XS and my 18ft Ranger w 150 Optimax! I also owned a Skeeter, I don’t like the waySkeeters look now, back in the 80s and 90s they were bad ass and had their own bad ass look!
Video stats at 2:00
Wait until you hit a wakesurfers wake in this going 80. You wont be around much longer after that!
This is the single most stable riding boat any of us at Ross Motorsports have ever been in. In the video with we get into flyby runs you can see the boat hit a boat weak at a 45 degree angle and it never skipped a beat. Any boat hitting a wake surfing or cabin cruiser wake can be ejected at any speed over idol. So yes you would be in for a bumpy ride but those are not normal conditions.
That's terrible I do 81 with a 225 Mercury on a 21-ft gambler. And with a 400hp your only doing 83 that's pretty bad nothing to brag about.
you need a better set up this should be a 100 + boat
after the break in period of the 400hp Merc Verado you see a increase in speed. Bass Cat and Mercury have both said this will be a high 80s low 90s boat.
The Jaguar with the 450hp Mercury has an unknown top speed.
bullet boats are where the speed comes in haha we got a bullet 20xd with a 285 racing motor and it runs 99.8 on gps fully loaded its scary fast haha
The motorcycle helmet 😂😂
Note to self, don't buy a Bass Cat if you want to go fast.
That thing at rest is motor heavy
6:50
Sorry but 400 HP on a bass boat is just out right stupid. Just stop already.
BASS tourneys should go back to 150 HP MAX... no LIVE SCOPE or side imaging... allowed....
400hp and only 83. A Ballistic will run over 100 with a 400
Apples to oranges
ehhh Eric Simmons builds alot faster, longer bay boats
would totally get a fast as fuck bass boat. if i didnt live close to lake erie and have multi 9.9 restricted lakes near me. walleye boats are really my only choice
83mph 😂😂😂 change the music bub that ain’t fast
wow....i bet you outfish all others dont you?
I fish Bfl’s been in about every well known bass boat around and I always seen a certain cat I absolutely loved the looks of of well I ended up getting drawn to fish with the guy and I’m here to tell ya the worst riding boat I’ve ever been I’ve never actually hurt in a bass boat but about mid day I was askin him could he take it easy hate those boats
The ride of any boat is also dependent on the driver. These are high performance boats that have a learning curve. Jumping into a Bass Cat with out some direction on how to drive them to lead to poor performance! Give us a call at (936)-465-5551 so we can clear the air on how these boats really ride! Thank you.
I had the same rough ride in a Bass cat on the Harris Chain in a tournament. I thought my kidneys were going to fall out.
When they build them better than a Ranger let me know!!
What’s better about a ranger? Real question looking at getting a new boat wanna know
always past ranger in quality more so now with JM owning them
@@mikethetoolman8776 Bass pro dealer mechanic network 👎 I'd rather get a prostate exam @ a camping world 👎
I've gotten old enough that a better ride and 75 works for me....having said that, I'd like to just see what a 300xs on the back of my 21hp would do. Great video guys!
I also own a 18ft Ranger with a 150 Optimax, I bought brand new in 08, only has 32 hours and mint! The gel coat is cracking I’m 😡 about it! What quality ? My mint 08 Bullet has zero cracking! My Ranger is also wider than my Bullet, and my Ranger rides like shit compared to my Bullet! Rangers 👎
Dont look like they ride good
We used GoPros that have a wide view setting. This causes 1) a better view of the surroundings, 2) exaggerated movements. We are definitely taking all of this into consideration and taking note for future videos. I can personally say after riding in that boat all day that it is hands down the best rough water riding boat on the market! Even better than a Champion 210!! Give Andrew Y’Barbo a call if you have any other questions! (936)-465-5551
Sold them not good workmanship front end sets high off the water and very noisy plus ugly
😄😄😁😁😆😆😅😅🤣🤣😂😂
60 to 80 mph max with a 400? really? my allison does that with a L6 tower of power 150 with carbs and a old distributor ignition system. sounds like these new 400 really has 200 at the prop from your performance tests.
Overrated and overrated review
