Great video! I did notice you are showing the live stream at auto resolution instead of HQ resolution. You may also have to download the footage to see the real resolution as streaming is compressed.
Informative Video. One thing I did not hear you mention was if there are plenum rated? Too many non-professional installers often overlook the code requirements.
It's a good question, but that rating is usually for cabling and I don't know if it applies to the end product. But you're absolutely right, the hub and the USB cable most likely will be hung above in the plenum.. fortunately we typically don't have a plenum rating requirement in our typical builds.
@@DPCTechnology You are correct, and in most instances, installers don't even know the difference. For Education, Plenum space or not we just do all plenum rated cabling. The challange is the inspector, they just look for plenum because they don't know better. That said, for installs that are plenum, we would just put a small plenum enclosure up there and that solves that. My goal for today is to watch your video from two months ago reviewing all of the UI Cams. Looking forward to it!
The type of mount is a rework mount. The original mounts that came with 360 and wide (at least ea) it had to be done with new construction, as you couldn't put it in drywall without access from rear
Wow, this is so helpful. Thanks for the superb level of detail. My first thought was, can this replace an AI 360 in an outdoor application, and I think for me, that's a "no." Firstly, because it sounds like these are not designed for any exposure to moisture (correct me if I'm wrong), but secondly, because an external IR illuminator isn't going to help with acquiring longer range images. For indoor applications, though, the pro models especially perform well in low light. Thanks again!
The AI360 is exterior rated but long range is not its strong suit.. If you can get it over the area you want to monitor it's pretty good but for most outdoor installations it's probably not exactly right..
Also, someone could do very well 3D printing accessories for these (e.g. bullet mounts) for end users who aren't too picky or where the camera is far enough from ground level that a person is not likely to notice imperfections in the print.
Thanks for your video review. Very through. I do have a question if you can take a look for me.... I heard your AI detection logic comments at 15:27 on your video discussed the lack of LPR, etc. However as of my post, has that been added to the AI Theta lens line? Specifically Facial Recognition technology?
Yeah, I was amazed at how good those pros were outside.. If you could recess it in the soffit and have all the internals in the attic, you probably could get away with it. and if there is ANY ambient light (street lights, etc.) in the area you will be amazed at how sensitive the sensor is.. It would be "off label" use, but it would probably be fine..
It's not that they are not ir. The sensor totally works with ir, just the ircut filter isn't movable. That's the click you hear when a camera turns on ir mode. It's a physical filter moving. Fun fact you can actually remove the ir cut filter permanently on most cameras.
Looking for a little input. My 14mo old daughter has a lot of health problems and is on a ventilator. She has private duty nursing for 10 hours in the evening everyday, then 8 hours during the day, 2-3 days a week. A lamp is kept on at all times at night. I've watched too many true crime shows; I want to get a camera in her room to monitor what's going on with the nurses at night. It seems like a 360 in the ceiling right over her bed might be the ticket. The question I have is, do you think the standard 360 would be sufficient given the lamp is always on (it's dimmed down to probably on the order of 150-200 lumens, and is about 12' from her crib. The bedroom itself is around 15' x 15'. I really want to keep this as small and discrete as possible; that tiny 360 in the ceiling really seems like the perfect form factor, if there's enough ambient light. Thanks!
Does the pro still use proprietary USB-C cables? Such a horrible idea. Major pain when a rat chews through the wire. Took nearly a year to get a replacement, but Ubiquiti did at least RMA it for me.
@@DPCTechnology is there an option for a longer cable? Seems like having hub further from lens would make access to reset easier, but only see 1 meter cable online.
We have various UI cameras, but the Theta has been unreliable at its very best, completely unusable at its worst. Figured since it was a new platform with new hardware, it would have been capable, but all I get is a thumbnail with buffering/loading dots, even when directly connected to the same switch the Theta via 1G or even 10G. Reached out to UI, but have not heard back yet. Yes, we have tested all of the basics like browser, app, environment, etc. Nothing makes it any better. Also think they should have put the turret base in, especially with the pro.
I have had the same issue twice and both times it was an RMA. I think there are some quality control issues with the hub and USB connection that they need to work on. It being an early camera I expect some issues but the rate of failure has definitely been too high.

That way we can see an actual feed of video footage. Instead they have a large banner advertisement window in that takes up a large portion of the video.

From an otherwise fantastic product line, what an absolute stupid design for something that could have been great. If this is meant for discrete installation having a giant dongle that you can't stick into a wall is a BIG miss (side note: what is the purpose of a screen?). How is this supposed to be mounted in an area where discretion matters?!?!
@@cassinovashalo I think with the ultra small discreet design IR was not an option. I think what they're doing with the lineup is just giving multiple options based on needs.
@@DPCTechnology That's fair. Maybe the size of the IR emitters needed would have prevented them from being particularly useful. I still stand by the annoyance that this could have been something much more useful. I hope it's a lesson learned for them and the next set(s) are designed differently.
@@DPCTechnology That's unfortunate. I know people have tried USB-C cables with no luck, but what about a USB-C extension? This would retain any kind of pinout change they did to make their connection proprietary.

When drilling the 60MM hole to use the Theta Pro Flush Mount, will the hub fit through it?

Does the kit include the bullet mounts?
It does not, they are $29.00 and can be found in the unifi store (link in description)

In natural speech there is a natural pause between sentences a sort of audible full stop. Your almost gapless video editing is most distracting.
