The NFL needs to recognize the greatness that is Weird Al by having him do the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It would be light years ahead of the drek they've had since Lady Gaga.
To be fair, there quite definitely is accordion on the original; it's just not mixed very high. You can hear it pretty clearly on the bridge. Al can do no wrong though, and this cover's great.
If that is the case, Weird Al still had a valid point regardless, since with a song called "Squeeze Box", an accordion probably should have been front and center instead of in the back of the mix.
I had never heard The Who’s version before I saw Al play this live in Portland a few months ago, and when I looked it up to give it a listen, I was surprised to find that I didn’t enjoy the original nearly as much. This version is so much more lively and rocking. Al was right… this IS the song the way God intended!
He forgot the words! And since he always sings about food... Mama's got some chicken, it's all skinless breast, and when daddy comes home, there is nothing left. Cuz she's chewin' all night, and it's tastin' alright. Mama's got some chicken, daddy never sleeps at night!
Well, I'm happy to see that Al is at the ready to correct all of the injustices in this world!
There’s something seriously wrong when a song about a squeeze box with no accordion. Al has corrected it. We can all sleep at night.
Also 'hurdy - gurdy man' -no hurdy - gurdy either !
Sheryl Crow has covered this song playing her accordion....

Nothing wrong with Lady Gaga.
That'll be the day...
Pete Townshend owes Al a debt of gratitude.
flybynight, you have preserved one of the iconic musical performances of our time. You have done God's work.
So glad Al got this out of his system, he's been complaining about this for a while now. Also, great video quality, you can actually see the gobos!
What Weird Al does is more than comedy, is the spirit of Rock N Roll. I Am brazilian and I will love to see him in Rock In Rio Festival some time.

I thought there was. It was at least mixed high enough that I knew it was there.
Petition to have Weird Al to perform at Super Bowl 53. Like to sign.

Townshend did write the song on accordion while learning the instrument, apparently.
I was listening to the Who last night and thought "I wonder if...?"
Thank you. I needed this in my life.
Literally, the thought and the search that brought me here today.
Al is a super singer and musician and comedian.
Thanks for posting! They did Should I Stay or Should I Go at the show we saw.
Yeah, it's about an accordion. RIIIIIGHT.
I was just thinking he should cover this..... and he has
There actually is accordion on that song in the "come on and squeeze me" part, very subtle but it's there. Listen for yourself.
Plenty of accordion in the demo original (found on the Townsend double LP Scoop)

Al, that isn't a squeeze box you're playin.
Great job AL and the boys.
He's got a point about the lack of accordions in the original.
It's there, just low in the mix
Al is dying for the Rock Stars' sins.
The weight of the Universe on this chosen Man's shoulders.
"Lord hear our prayer".
Love this Cat!
IIRC there is a little bit of accordion in The Who's version, just before the banjo solo

Thank you, FlyByNight!
A Quick One was that album issued 1967.
Lovely
I got to admit I like the accordion solo.
Would love to WEIRD AL and Sheryl Crow duet on this with Dueling 🪗
The sound guy at the Santa Fe Show said that the entire tour will be available on Stitcher Premium at the end of the tour
That drummer is pretty great! He actually played it a lot like Keith Moon did when The Who played it in 1975-76. lol
That's Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz.
Wow!!!
I picture a concertina in the song.
I always did.
Check out Sheryl Crows version in London .... She's got a Squeeze Box too
I hate to break it to everyone but the original does have accordion in it.
Quite right. God intended it to be that way.
Weird Al Yankovic does a good cover of it I'm Squeezebox
A song about enjoying the heck out of married sex with your husband!
Bravo!
Uncomfortable for the kids, I suppose.
And they keep sayin' it's about accordian! Why?
Hadda be before 1975...I heard it in Germany when I was in the Army...
This is great, but it's better with banjo. No reason you can't have both.
So agree :)
Love Al's cover of this...and he's right...banjo solo in a song about an accordion? lmao
I can't believe he thought it was about the accordion.
Tenacious D's gags billy goats,Sheryi Crow's is blah,this isn't much better.
Very good, the band really rocks, but Sheryl Crowe did the best.
He sounds Liberal to me
Go listen to Kid Rock,then.
