Thanks for the film footage. My late father had just started a new job in HK at that time so he would have recognised these scenes. Back then, there were water shortages so running water was limited to a couple of hours a day. The trams haven't changed! :)
I noted some inaccuracy., 1,the Lantau peak was not Lantau Peak. I used to regularly hike Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak etc, 2, the "Star Ferry" was the Yau Ma Tei Vehicular Ferry.
Thank you for this, I did wonder when doing my research if everything was correct, unfortunatly my Father died several years ago so was unable to ask him.
You're right. That was Victoria Peak on Hong Kong island. You can see the scenic observation tower off the slope on the right. The ferry caught on tape was the Yaumatei vehicular ferry with the lower deck carrying vehicles while the upper deck was for passengers.
I remember that old Hong Kong very well . Thank you for bringing back some very fond memories.
Thank you for bringing us a good memory of Hong Kong in 1963.
Thanks for uploading. Very precious.
I was born that year. Therefore I have no memory of this. Thanks for sharing such precious footage.
I was there in 72' thank you for the great visual.

A few changes since this was filmed. One of my favourite cities.
