Heads up to anybody watching this video! You are not supposed to run the filters dry! You are supposed to apply K&N air filter oil to the filter not just apply sealant!
You should be aware that some people are having stalling issues with the 1.3k idle setting , and that the main workaround has been setting it around 2k. Evidence isn't clear, but it looks like most people who aren't having a problem are the ones with bikes that came out of the factory with a 2k idle setting.
Just a observation. You don't need any key or screwdriver to install the filter, in the compartment of the bike, you have almost everything you need. Sorry if my english are wrong, i'm not too good with it.
Pappa Doggie I just purchased the 2014 300 and it has the m4 exhaust is it a noticeable difference with the k-n air filter and what else performance wise can I do
great man.... my bike using 1.5k idle... do you have problems after u changed the air filter? like the power down on top speed or something u can feel? thanks man.....
Man that's a lovely bike. I wouldn't trade my bike for anything! How many miles are on yours? I'm sitting just above 5.5k and I haven't looked at the filter yet!
It does increase the increase the air flow to the engine but a ECU map isn't needed although it wouldn't hurt. I might do a remap soon since I have a new exhaust/sprockets as well.
Alone you won't feel too much of a difference but it's definitely a cheap upgrade. When paired with an exhaust upgrade and maybe a commander/tuning you could see a large improvement, which might be the case in the next few videos I make. We'll see what happens :D
Well the instructions say to apply a generous amount. I may have been a little to generous. It's so there are not air leaks around the edges of the filter so I figured more is better, lol.
You never replace k&n air filters...be it for cars and trucks..or motorcycles. The entire point of using/owning a K&n air filter is it last for the entire real life of the vehicle. You clean it, lube it ( if applicable which most often it is) and put it back in the air box or on the end of the air intake pipe depending on if you're dealing with a completely stock air intake system....the k&n's stock air intake piping system if you buy that if applicable per vehicle. I had one on my 91 tempo and it paid for itself in fuel savings in around 7 years or less worst case. Cheers.
Nope. What I was putting on there was a lubricant that acts as a seal so that air doesn't get around the edges of the filter. For the K&N filter it comes with it.
From factory the idle was set high. I had to lower it. Not sure why this was a thing from factory or what purpose it would serve because the manual says it should be nearly 1k lower than when purchased.
You forgot to add oil to the filter You allowed a bunch of dirt into your engine! K&N filters offer greater performance but require more frequent maintenence Even the stock filter requires oil

Good job! Wish my 400 had the filter there. Subbed.
I live in the WPB area. Thanks I love how sporty the 300 is. Doesn't look like a small bike at all
Howd you get you mirrors upside down like that? Can you see better?
Yeah, mine works fine and came out with 2k idle setting. I've turned it down to 1.25k and it feels fine and has no stalling issues.
Yeah I have the m4 exhaust and noticed a huge difference with the K&N added

Sorry for the late reply. I replaced the filter at 2k miles and I'm at 6.4k now.

Pg. 107 in the Owners manual. It's right above the picture of the bike.
What about the throttle response? Cause some people have been saying that they lose some of the throttle response after putting a different exhaust on
Is this considering modding a bike and not completely stock? I apologize for my lack of knowledge... I am a beginner
Man that's a lovely bike. I wouldn't trade my bike for anything!

i looked in the manual and couldnt find where it said that it should idle at 1.25k. do you know what page you found that info?
Your airfilter change is hella easier then mine
clockwise or counter-clockwise for higher idle??
Clockwise to raise the idle. Make sure to let the bike warm-up to operating temperature first otherwise the adjustment will be off.
Dude, the filter allows more o2 into the mixture, how does the ECU learns this change? does he ECU has to be remapped?
It does increase the increase the air flow to the engine but a ECU map isn't needed although it wouldn't hurt. I might do a remap soon since I have a new exhaust/sprockets as well.

DUDEEEEEEEEEEE are u wearing the icon Torrent helmet that have the skull on it and that is cover with chain
I'll do a introduction video soon and reveal the name of my bike :D

theres no
difference in sound ??
Oh, I have to ask. You need to change the K&N filter? In the hotsite it says can go up to 60.000km.You must clean it or something?

Did you put glue on the filter??
Nope. What I was putting on there was a lubricant that acts as a seal so that air doesn't get around the edges of the filter. For the K&N filter it comes with it.
What’s point of raising idle
From factory the idle was set high. I had to lower it. Not sure why this was a thing from factory or what purpose it would serve because the manual says it should be nearly 1k lower than when purchased.
What's your motorcycles name?
Yeah I was surprised how easy it was.
You forgot to add oil to the filter

Hey you gotta nice vlog

thanks for help
Allergy?
He put way too much grease. They give you much more than you need
And he didn't oil the filter!
