I made some for a friend's exwife. She was so excited to get them. When she visited the doctor she showed the "new" look to him. Was so glad to have a cover for bag You never realize how much difference the little things can make.❤
Thank you for this tutorial and pattern. You explained it so well and the finished product was perfect. I sewed these for a family member and he told me how grateful he was and how encouraged these covers made him feel. Your video and pattern make a difference in people's lives! Thank you so very much!
I’m not sure I understand what you need. My website has written instructions which may help. sites.google.com/site/diyostomycoverpatterns/home?authuser=0
Thank you year 3 of abdominal fistulas and wearing an ostomy bag. (Insurance won't cover the cost of fistula bags🙄) So I appreciate this. All the info for covers for sale or patterns are for Hollister only. I wear color last. They offered the biggest size. The clip-on bags always popped off on me. I can relate to your son's issues with the bag.
Thank you for the pattern and instructions I will be making these for the cancer center in honor of my mom, grand mom, and sister. This means so much to me. Thank you again.
Thank you! It’s hard but just look at it. Your husband has to look at it and live with it. I had to learn to take care of my 9 years olds two days after he had the surgery AND pretend it was not a big deal.
Thank you for this video & pattern, a friend of mine recently had surgery and will have her colostomy bag for life and I whipped one of these up to brighten her day, she loved it and was shocked it fit so well!
Thank you so much for the pattern and video explanation. I can't sleep as my husband is still in the hospital after his colectomy so this gave me some much needed distraction and a sense of control at a difficult time for our family. I made 2 already!
thank you for the pattern. My son has a ostomy bag, he is still in the hospital. he had Covid, coughed so hard he tore a hole in his bowels . want to make covers for him but he is in TX and I am in WA
I had no idea that was even possible, and hopefully it’s reversible down the road! His hole opening size (flange) for the covers may change so don’t make too many right now :). Best wishes for a full Covid recovery!
Hi, Beatrice! I wanted to thank you for this video. I have a rare genetic blood disorder called HHT. About six weeks ago, I had my ninth abdominal surgery. I was pretty much thrown into the ostomy world, without any guidance. Thanks to your help with learning how to make ostomy covers, I am now more confident with myself and glad I won't disgusted others when I go out anywhere. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for providing a pattern and a video for myself and others!
Jennifer, I'm so happy to hear that! I felt the same way when my son had his surgery. We had tons of support for the cancer treatment he was going through, but the support for the ostomy was pathetic. I'm glad the covers help you see yourself in a more positive light. Stay strong.
Thank you very much for these videos. I made three covers for my dad so far by making a similar pattern, and even a sewing video for my mom to follow if she wants to try making them as well. Thanks again.
Thank you so much .... I have made 4 covers already for one person I don't know, using your instructions and pattern !! I'm going to offer for others now too. Great ! thanks for taking your time and giving the pattern too.
Thank you so much for this video. Found you when asked to make some covers for a charity in UK. So, so useful. Clear explanations and pattern. Thank you for sharing!!
Beatrice Ruberto I contacted local children's hospitals to see if I can send for the kids. I found your web site just a few days ago. This Crohn's disease hit close to home. If you ever decided to mass mail to children's hospice and need help making them... contact me! I'm in. FREE OF CHARGE!! I felt this way, you gave of yourself freely, pattern too! So I will follow your foot steps!
I also made many, all different colors, for little kids and teens. I donated them to our local hospital. I’m glad to hear you are doing the same. You can email me pictures at Thedomeofquiet@gmail.com
Beatrice...I had to make a bag cover but just couldn't figure out how to do it. Thanks to you I followed your pattern and instructions and it came out great. Plan to make a few spares. Thanks again Beatrice. Marge
Thank you for the pattern and instructions. My stepdaughter is a nurse practitioner for Gastrointestinal Surgery. I'm going to make some to be given free to her patients.
Can the user put this cover on while it's attached to the body? I've sent a few to my stepdaughter to get feedback on modifications if needed. Thank you so much! She's so excited to be able to share these with her patients.
thank you so much for this pattern. i have made a couple for a friend BUT am not sure of the size of her stoma bag. I received 4 different sized sample bags this morning and was wondering which bag your pattern is for. I do not have a stoma but hope to gift covers to those who have.
Hi Beatrice!! Thank you so much for the free pattern and instructions on how to make these pouch covers. I tried to donate but I'm guessing the link doesn't work anymore. Thank you again!!
ody fern I made 4 video. Watch them all- it should answer your questions. You can watch on RUclips or from my website. sites.google.com/site/diyostomycoverpatterns/home/pattern-instructions
My 9 year old wore an adult bag. The pattern I shared is what he used. The size of the little hole is the most important part- to make sure it stays on. Maybe make two- one with each hole size. Then make more once you know if it works.
+Beatrice Ruberto Thank you so much and One more question the pattern listed on your site is that 13/4 for the whole flange or for the opening? Mine is 1 inch for the opening and for the whole flange its 13/4 1-3/4" (44 mm) Pre-sized, 1" (25 mm)
Jodie Bowman I’m not sure. Did you follow along with the video? It’s a bit odd to turn after youve sewed it. Send me a picture at thedomeofquiet@gmail.com

Jodie Bowman I’m glad you figured it out. The website explains the size for the covers. Finished cover should be the same as you bag when the opening is rolled up. -more or less. Hope that helps. Thedomeofquiet@gmail.com

Hi Beatrice!! Thank you so much for the free pattern and instructions on how to make these pouch covers. I tried to donate but I'm guessing the link doesn't work anymore. Thank you again!!
Hi great video thanks, can I ask what sort material did you use please
Cotton. I would recommend something soft and flexible, not stiff like denim.
thank you, I made my first one today.
I am going to try to make a pattern yours is great.
Would this be a similar process if you wanted to make a stoma cap cover?
Sorry but I don’t know what a stoma cap cover is. I guess you could try it
How and when do you turn them inside out and how do you place them on your colobag? We are new at this.
ody fern I made 4 video. Watch them all- it should answer your questions. You can watch on RUclips or from my website. sites.google.com/site/diyostomycoverpatterns/home/pattern-instructions
How much smaller is a child size bag? I do not have a bag to trace. I want to make this for a 7 yr. Old boy that came home from school in tears.
My 9 year old wore an adult bag. The pattern I shared is what he used. The size of the little hole is the most important part- to make sure it stays on. Maybe make two- one with each hole size. Then make more once you know if it works.
I have the fabric and pattern to work on, but can it be hand sewn? As I don't own a sewing machine. I plan to hand sew it. Will that still work?
+Jewels Waters Sure, of course you can hand sew it. Make small stitches so that the seams will be stronger. Good luck!
+Beatrice Ruberto
Thank you so much and One more question the pattern listed on your site is that 13/4 for the whole flange or for the opening? Mine is 1 inch for the opening and for the whole flange its 13/4
1-3/4"
(44 mm) Pre-sized, 1"
(25 mm)
+Jewels Waters The measurement is NOT the stoma opening, but the plastic snap-on part. I'm thinking the 1 3/4 is your size.
I acually used my moms sewing machine and it turned out great! Thank you so much!
