They went to the elite 8 the year robs talking about and Trevion is the same height as TKR. TO is so clueless it’s crazy.
shot away from the final 4 lol diakite magic
You guys need to remember you gave Purdue a D- off season grade last year.
LOL @mecreature123 maybe you need to remember to take your meds ruclips.net/video/yveZtuYV5So/видео.htmlsi=Jsa4IEGt8VXHGd0b
@@TheFieldOf68
Probably so.
Sorry,
I was referring to :
Purdue and Memphis have been THE most DISAPPOINTING teams this offseason!! | TRANSFER PORTAL LATEST.
I see.... pre Edey returned.
My Bad
Painter has won with his best player being a swing guard like Jaden Ivey, Painter has won with his best player being an undersized guard like Carsen Edwards, Painter won with his best player being an undersized PF/C like Trevion Williams. Painter won with an unspectacular balanced core when he had Thompson, Mathias, Haas and Vince Edwards. Painter won when he had a spectacular blue chip core like Hummel, Johnson and Moore and he won when Hummel got hurt too. Like….I’m sorry, Matt Painter has earned the benefit of the doubt and he’ll figure it out without Zach Edey. I think they will make the tournament easily and they are a second weekend team.
Matt Painter is an elite coach. No one thought the Purdue would be as good as they were two years ago. Purdue will be no worse than a 4 seed in the the NCAA tournament.
@@Bakers924 absolutely. They’ve been a 4 seed or better in 8 straight tournaments. People act like Purdue is done now that Edey is gone, but Purdue has been a very good regular season team for the last decade. Edey absolutely played a huge roll in getting them over the hump in March and getting them to a final 4, but as far as the regular season goes they’ve been as consistently good as any team in the sport for the last 10 years.
Prediction: The Big Ten isn't any better than it was lsat year, Purdue will vie for the Big10 title and likely be ~4 seed in the NCAA getting to the elite 8. They'll play 5 out for starters then shift the game by bringing in Berg or Jacobsen and moving TKR to the 4. Opponents will have to play and prepare against both styles and won't know how to respond. Purdue will lead the Big10 in 3's made and attempted. Crucial stat will be rebounding.
UConn has ZERO pop. wtf are you on TO??? Myles didn’t play much cuz there was a logjam at the 2/3 spot, he’s gonna get a LOT of shots this year, same with Heide. Heide is gonna play 30 mins a game and is the defensive stopper. Myles is also gonna play 25ish mins a game and is gonna get so so many shots. I promise you there is not going to be NEAR as big a fall off as you think TO. Purdue will be a top 3 team in the B1G and will likely win it.
But is winning the big ten that big of a feather in your cap right now. Big ten has been bad for awhile now and every year people keep saying they are back but it has yet to be seen.
I just hope I don't have to wait another 44 years! Whatever happens this year, happens, but I think Purdue will be better than expected by many.
we have another 7'4 dude coming in with Jacobsen that can shoot too
I have always listened to TO's breakdown of the game and have a lot of respect for his analysis. "Hard to win the Kentucky Derby with Shetland ponies". No amount of respect could result in giving TO's quote being anything other than calling Purdue's lineup trash. Respect of his opinion has diminished somewhat.
Nobody had Purdue being any good two years ago when Smith and Loyer were freshmen, and they were top 5 all year. We'll just have to wait and see who steps up this year.
Purdue will win their third straight outright regular season title!
Listening to TO speak makes me get so much dumber, not good for my IQ.
Wish I could listen to the rest of this video but I need to protect my brain cells
The 2019 team had freshman Trevion Williams at 6'10 and Sophomore Matt Haarms at 7'3 with Haarms starting
2 Purdue IU games do happen every year. Nice idea….
LOL 4th in the B10? What a joke
No way Purdue is top 10 this year. Much respect, but that is a fantasy.
Hope you are wrong. Hope to visit this comment either way in couple of months.
@@edalbanese6310 Fair enough. No shade. I respect the program, I just doubt the product this year. Will always hope you are better than Indiana!
They might be in the top half of the B1G
You have no brain
Lol might? They'll win the league.
Did you say that IL will beat them too last year?
The guards in Big 10 are better and at times bigger than last year. Purdue thinks its strength is in its guards. Even Rutgers will give their guards trouble Jamichael and Jeremiah are really good Defenders and Harper, Acuff, etc are really big guards. How does Fletcher operate (include on defense). Go to Indiana...guards...USC...guards...etc...did no even mention Illini
I have to agree with TO, hard to see how Purdue can be dominant with this roster. However, TKR and Smith are primed to be huge stars this year. Question is who steps up as prime time scorer when those guys are held in check?
Yeah they won’t be dominant. But they’ll be something like a four seed. This team is talented
That off-season Purdue went to the elite 8 with Edwards they lost 4 of their 5 starters, the next year was a hard season to watch sometimes (Edwards shot around 20% from 3), but they won the big 10 and we're a shot away from the final 4. Painters philosophy revolves around finding players who care more about the team than themselves, then figuring out who the best player is and giving them the ball. I think he has the talent you be about to make something out of what he has, but we'll see. By many accounts that 2019 season should have been the worst season Purdue has had under Painter
Standard ?

Player development
Well we play Bama on 11-15 so we’ll find out pretty quickly.
They went 16-15 the year after Carson
this isn’t the same. The Carsen years had a non scorer at C in Matt Haarms and it was a faster more 3 pointer focused team. This is gonna be a similar team to Carsen’s teams. TKR will score 12-14 ppg or more and Smith/Loyer/Colvin/Heide will be bombing 3’s. Smith will be tossing lobs to Heide and Myles and Daniel Jacobsen will be backing TKR up at center for 12-15 mins a game. Its gonna be great
@@AngryBoilerFanthat sounds all good on paper but don’t think that’s how it’s going to go. Not saying Purdue won’t be top 25 or anything but a lot of that will have to do with how bad the big ten is going to be agin.
The bald guy with pink cheeks doesn't really understand basketball. Maybe stick to moderating and letting the other two discuss the sport.
Unless Braden can become a primary 3 level scorer I’m not sure how high the ceiling is for this team. Yes Painter is an elite coach and yes smith can set the table with his passing. But I’m not seeing how the offense can reach its ceiling without Edey creating doubles and no one becoming a primary scorer.
Only way I see is if 1 of Colvin or Heide makes that jump and TKR becomes an all B10 1st or 2nd teamer.
Thank you. I’m not saying somebody can’t emerge as that guy but as of right now I don’t know who that would be and neither does anybody else. Losing edey isn’t just about losing a big man down low. It’s losing one of the most dominate big men down low who drew double team after double team and also helped get other teams bigs in foul trouble. A lot more to this loss than just rebounding and scoring.
It will look like the Carsen Edwards and Trevion WIlliams Team.... and they were a fraction of second from a final 4
Oglesby is so bad at this. When we he learn about Purdue? Ha “pop”? That’s such a nothing take.
cracks me up that people underestimate one of the smartest court sensed player that Fletcher Loyer is. hes possibly the BEST shooter in basketball. stick Will Berg in there who is 7'2 and the team gets back to the title game. Fletcher Loyer will lead the team in scoring
Loyer hit nothing in the NC game.
@@edalbanese6310 no one did but Edey that game. Look at the other 4 games
imma remember this lol
TO will gas up some random mountain west team but acts like Purdue won’t be top 3 in the weak Big Ten. Insane. Dude doesn’t know ball.
He knows ball and I agree with him. I’ve been watching Purdue since painter took over as a 2005 Alum. Grew up on Louisville Cardinal hoops before that (Denny Crum and his titles in the 80s). The UConn game proved that the backcourt isn’t effective vs elite talent when Edey isn’t double teamed. Edey was a major cheat code and he’s gone now. Smith and Loyer not athletic enough without Edey down low. TKR Colvin and Heide all good but not quick enough laterally. We will be good but not great.
@@tkamel18 the UConn game against 5 NBA players did not prove anything. It proved UConn was an elite team and the best team in the country. I’m not sure if you noticed but UConn did that to every team they faced. 95+% of the teams on Purdue’s schedule aren’t even remotely comparable to last year’s UConn team. The only team on their schedule with anywhere near that level of talent this season is Alabama. Using 1 game against UConn is an awful example. Look at other games they played against top 25 teams. Teams that were very good but not arguably one of the best teams we’ve seen in the last decade (UConn). Games against Tennessee, Gonzaga, Illinois, Utah State, Michigan State, Arizona, Marquette, etc. One of, if not both, Braden and Loyer put up very good numbers in all of those games.
@@tkamel18UConn has two top 7 defensively focused picks. Two more guys that got drafted second round , and another that will be likely first round next year. They’re a great team. Purdue will be more athletic at the guard and wing this year. As good over all as last year ? No. But still a big ten contender and a top 15 ish team
@@colebucket6009 I think we will finish with around 20-23 wins. Not great but not horrible. Tourney team. Maybe s16. Painter had to keep Catchings and figured out how to make it work. He was a key loss this season.
@@tkamel18 I think they’re gonna be ranked pretty much all year and maybe get as high as 10. And this is a down year. Sweet 16ish is absolutely fine. Don’t underestimate painter.
It will certainly be easier to call FOULS on Purdue now.
ahahah let's see with the 7.2 and 7.4 centers...but easier for sure.
@@edalbanese6310 Seriously, that's who Purdue has now? MSU now has 3 guys around 7'. How much do they weight?
@@YTSparty the 7.4 is freshman and skiny. the 7.2 is much better, he has muscle and heavier (sorry dont know the weight) but not
sure how he will perform. his name is Will Berg, from Sweden
@@edalbanese6310 yeah Edey was pretty unique. Being tall doesn't mean much if you can't run or make a shot. A lot of teams have a 7 foot bench warmer.
I would be shocked if Purdue found another Edey. But Purdue seems to love the big guy posting scheme.
@@edalbanese6310 Jacobsen weighs 230 lbs and Berg weighs 260 lbs (compared to Edey's 300 lbs from last season), according to the Purdue roster page. No problem in that 260-lb weigh for Berg. He's just not a 2-time player of the year. Very few are.
In rough terms, Purdue will be good this season, but not great, because Edey was/is a truly great player who made everyone around him better. BTW, it seems Jacobson has a lot of potential. BTG teams better jump on Purdue when they can, since I'd guess Purdue will be a favorite to win the conference by the season after this coming one. That is very little time for a few other teams to capitalize, and Purdue will still be near the top this season. So, Purdue fans should be happy with their present team and excited about how that team will develop.
Spoiler alert purdue will be 14-18 5-11 11th ranked in the big ten sorry Purdue fans your teams going to suck ass this year 😂
Fanta is nuts. Braden Smith is nowhere near as good as Mark Sears. PUR is in trouble w/o Edey.
TO a clown bruh, were inevitable just like the stros and the chiefs at this point
LOL a Purdue fan comparing them to the Chiefs. Y'all are funny, I'll give you that much
@@vocalman81 we've won the big ten 2 years in a row, and we will be ranked to start the season most likely even without Edey in the fold.
