Out of all his accolades, and he has many, you left out 3 important facts: 1) With the Bucs John Lynch and Mike Alstott had a no hitting each other rule implemented by Herm Edwards for the safety of the entire solar system. 2) In a game he once knocked out cold his brother in law (Mrs. Lynch's brother) who played TE for the bears. 3) Used his helmet like a weapon probably more than AJ.
It's crazy to think, this is how smart Lynch is AFTER using his head as a blunt weapon of warfare for a decade. Imagine how sharp dude was before 10 years of taking heads off
We are blessed as niners fans to have such a humble yet strong leader as a GM. What him and Kyle and the rest of that front office and staff have done with the niners is nothing short of amazing. I hope his legacy as a niners GM is just getting started! Nothing but love and respect for John Lynch. What a role model.
That's their most underrated traits - the leadership and eye for talent. We get coaches and front office guys poached every year and they keep bringing in more and more talent into the organization - it takes a team on and off the field, and they keep building that team well
I met John in the pit at a Morgan Wallen concert last summer in San Diego. As a huge niners fan I had to say hi and he couldn’t have been cooler. Took a quick pic with me and then left him to enjoy the concert with his family. I hope he’s our GM for the next 25 years. Awesome dude.
I'm from Jersey (Passaic), so when he mentioned Craig "Ironhead" Heyward. I knew exactly who he was talking about. Yeah, that man was a beast when he played for Passaic High School. God rest his soul 🙏.
I've been a Bucs fan since the late 90s and John Lynch is my all time favorite player. Watching him knock people's heads off with that legendary late 90s Bucs D was incredible. His nickname within the defense was Friendly Fire because they were all trying to avoid the missile flying up from the secondary. Definitely a HOF human!
49ers are very lucky to have him as the GM. They find studs to fit any scheme they want to do and it works. It's unreal how tactical they are with their picks each year. Trey Lance was a major bust but they couldn't have predicted all his injuries.
John Lynch is the best! I’m a Broncos fan and it makes me so sad that we hired Vance Joseph in 2017 and missed out on the possible Shanahan/Lynch duo. Glad they’re both having success in SF though.
In the past there have been many coaches and GM's that did not get along with each other, Shanahan and Lynch have managed to help each other put together a team working together. Today GM's have to help coaches get the players they need to fit their system.
We know that score all too well. circa Jim Harbaugh and Trent Balke. Hated each other, Jed was a young owner / exec at the time and so went with keeping the GM resulting in Harbaugh being canned. Then begins the 4 coaches in 4 years circus. Jed learned his lesson, and made sure when he hired Kyle that there was going to be a GM Kyle could work with.
Ironhead Heyward, Rod Bernstine, Marion Butts, Jerome Bettis, The Nigerian Nightmare, Barry Word, Natrone Means were all dominating power RB back in those days. In Tecmo Bowl, if you ran Rod Bernstine dive up the middle, there's a 70% you'll get a TD. It was when Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders came into the scene and changed the game forever.
I think it is right to say: we are lucky to have him at the 9ers. The Football is strong in this one! Just give us the ring, man, just make it happen🤙🏻
As a niners fan, I feel like I speak for many other niners fans when I say that I honestly trust Lynch even more than Shanahan lol. The man always has a plan, and for every swing and a miss, he has an absolute piss missile home run. For every Reuben Foster, there's a Fred Warner, for every Trey Lance, there's a Brock Purdy, for every Kinlaw a Bosa, for every Pettis a deebo. Lynch just GETS football. Personally, I feel like Kyle can sometimes miss the forest for the trees. He can get lost in the sauce, he can lose the plot and overthink. I feel like Lynch NEVER over thinks. Honestly, I am low-key terrified that Jed might get fed up with Shanahan and can Lynch cause he wants to clean house. We have this stacked team because John Lynch has been fantastic every step of the way as the brain of the entire operation. If we had John Lynch instead of Trent Baalke when we had Jim harbaugh, I think the niners win multiple super bowls
naa...Jed continually giving them contracts should tell you all you need to know about how Jed feels. He's not interested in the Harbaugh / Balke 4 coaches in 4 years circus again. He'll ride this horse until it's absolutely played out...
I can just imagine the conversation between Lynch and Shanahan, after all they went through to obtain Trey Lance and work with him, to finally admit, damn, Brock's surprised the hell out of us, and he's our guy now. It's time to let Trey get a new start elsewhere. Had to be a low point for them. And on the other hand, obtaining Christian McCaffrey had to be the polar opposite situation.
We niner fans have been blessed with a great organization. My childhood I was not so fortunate, we were the laughing stock. John Lynch and Shanahan will get criticized for not getting the big win. But boy I feel this culture they made, oh yeah and PURDY made that possible. What story this era has been. Just missing one thing…
i love the fact he went from a guy who talked about kim jong un on barstool to interviewing two playoff GMs in the same day on his birthday for old times sake pat, can we get a jim kong update
Great dude. However he made one of the worst blunders of all time giving up all they did for Trey Lance. Additionally, the Brock Purdy pick was an absolute fluke. Wish him the best, seems like a solid guy but not an excellent GM in my opinion.
Mistake #1: $34 Million to Trey Lance in advance and 3 first round draft picks for a guy we couldn’t really get around to seeing because of Covid. Mistake #2: Getting stingy AF with the guy who’s taking you places.
stingy AF huh ? LOL If your referring to Purdy, then don't. because they aren't allowed to do anything contract wise until Purdy has 3 complete years under his belt. Per League and NFLPA...hope that helps with your indigestion...
@@nadjasunflower1387 By rule, huh? Weird rule. The real indigestion comes from mistake #1 and the stark comparison therein. Furthered by his comments of “We had our eye on him and liked his prospects”. C’mon man, you took him last and stuck him in a rookie contract with no stipulation that if the other two get crushed then he gets paid for starting and risking his neck every Sunday. Jimmy G had it in his but maybe it’s because he wasn’t a rookie and there’s a rule about it. 🤢
@@djohnspangler all rookie contracts are already set in stone by NLFPA. Which scales according to draft position, and can't be adjusted until they have 3 full years in the league. Because Vets need to be protected and stuff. LOL
@@nadjasunflower1387all these rules were implemented to prevent a player from holding out on money. Not sure if this also helps with how Eli Manning got drafted to prevent holdouts from a team drafting you.
The 49ers let the entire NFC down with their Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. NFC was UNDOUBTEDLY the better division. SB choke job. Should have been eliminated in the Packer game.
Just remember that I own you guys; if you make it back to the superbowl, I Pat Mahomie will win again😂 I live rent free in 49ers fans heads and especially the front office that passed on me. Join the bills in losing 4 straight superbowls😘
This is one of the best sports interviews I’ve ever seen possibly

2) In a game he once knocked out cold his brother in law (Mrs. Lynch's brother) who played TE for the bears.

"for the safety of the entire solar system" we thank Herm for his valuable contributions to our society!

John was great; and Pat, great job for letting him speak uninterrupted; keep up the good work!
Excellent comment
Trent baalke catching strays
The difference in personalities between this and the Poles interview is night and day. John has so much charisma, it’s hard to hate the 9ers
... and the Roseman interview
What a great interview. Big (and old) 49ers fan going back to 1955. Our GM, John Lynch, comes across so well in this interview. Go 49ers!
Wow, John Lynch seems like a truly solid dude. Great storyteller, too.
Check out his highlights. Top 10 in being the hardest hitting player in NFL history.
The stories were a distraction from the questions asked. Notice how he didn’t respond to Brock’s grossly underpaid earnings.
For sure.
@@djohnspanglerC’mon man. This is TV. LOL. It’s entertainment. He’s not going to talk real business here… nor should he. No one does.

Listen closely all you NFL owners. This is the type of professional you need to hire. Not some verbal diarrhea car salesman that you tend to hire.

John Lynch is a Living Legend! 💯 Tampa loves ya, John! Forever!
John Lynch was and is a DAWG!!
So thankful we have Shanahan and Lynch leading this team. Awesome to hear the behind the scenes stories. Go 49ers
Wow, John Lynch seems like a truly solid dude. You can see why he is the perfect fit for the Niners and why this team has been consistently good!
It took me a hot minute to appreciate pat mcafee, but I’m on board
Welcome. It's dumb here.
He can be a lot when you first get to watching him, but he’s as solid as they come in this industry.
49ers are very lucky to have him as the GM. They find studs to fit any scheme they want to do and it works. It's unreal how tactical they are with their picks each year. Trey Lance was a major bust but they couldn't have predicted all his injuries.

Phenomenal interview!!! Thanks Pat, John, A.J. and all.
C’mon Pat. Lynch set the bar. Let’s get AJ hooked up with that camera setup!!!
For real 😂
all the other GMs should use this interview as a learning process...
Lynch would hunt and kill WRs daring to catch on a crossing route. He was one of the fiercest Hitters of all time!
49ers studios hooking him up with the 8k. Great interview. Hell yeah!
Great interview! Very enjoyable.
Lynch's recall, articulation, thoughtfulness and humble attitude are awesome. Wish he was management at where I work.

John is drafting like he knows he’s gonna have to pay Purdy a max contract 👀
John Lynch aka Captain America. Fantastic interview
My favorite non 49er became our GM and he turned out to be half decent. Coach Kyle deserves some credit for the building that team as well
…he’s a 49er now as a GM…
The two greatest players to be both a hof player and a hof GM is both Lynch and Elway
We couldn't be happier having Lynch as our GM
Niner fans better treat this man like the gold he is
We do
We really gotta hope York does honestly.
Blessed in SF 😌
Amazing interview. Lynch is a legend. What a treat of an interview. Great football mind.
Can not begin to express how stoked I personally have been with Lynch as tue GM of the 49ers.
The pro athlete/GM version of Matt Damon
John Lynch was a BEAST on the field... that is all....
Ur a clown
Greatest football human of all time
forgot to mention one small detail: HALL OF FAME
This interview gave me chills. Great guy!
I imagine the story of the current 49ers organization is very similar to the movie Moneyball, except instead of runs they focus on character
C’mon Lynch. Beat the Chiefs for once

I pray John Lynch stays in S.F for a long time then becomes NFL Commissioner somehow.
