    Thanks, you just help me switch my unit from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Somehow, it must have gotten bumped this morning and switched over to Celsius. After messing around with it, checking my install manual, I could not figure out how to change it back to Fahrenheit. What would we do without RUclips and guys like you making all these helpful videos? 😆

Sometimes it’s just for a couple seconds, then turn back on, ramp up the fan speed to high, then back to low, and continue running. Or, the ac will just shut off completely. Any ideas. Thanks John for the great video. Have you had any issues of the unit cycling on and off and the coils freezing. Curious if you had any suggestions for that on hot humid days.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 года назад +1

      Sometimes if it is really hot and humid, the coils can ice up if the unit is running a long time. Basically you may need to let it thaw out before turning it back on. You can run the fan a while and keep the compressor off to expedite the melt. If the unit is older or you have been in areas with lots of debris in the air, you may need to clean the coils (which should be done regularly) and this can improve performance. I had a bunch of milkweed in my coils recently from a trip in Michigan in June that junked up my coils. Makes a difference in performance if you keep them clean. Thanks!

    I had the problem with the touch sensitivity of the thermostat from when I first got my new Rpod. The RV tech showed me how to fix it by pulling out the foam blocks slightly to decompress them with a tweezer being careful not to tear them. Once he did that I've been careful not to push the buttons and haven't had a problem since.

      I am assuming that you are plugged into shore power (30 amp) and that all your wall outlets are working fine in the RV? If so, check your fuse box to see if something tripped the A/C fuse. Also, can you get the fan to run on low or high from the thermostat? If you can, then the A/C unit is likely getting power, since the fan that runs is in the A/C unit. Let me know.

      Thanks John! Also, I never used the feature of over-riding the auto-fan with the low fan setting at night. Every time that fan kicks on I wake up! With the continued low fan I may just sleep through the night now! We experienced our first flat tire on the Pod on Monday during our trip home from Spokane. Thanks to the PMS , we stopped in time with the warning buzzer to save us from having a blow-out. Now I feel much more secure with the display screen showing air pressure and temperatures while towing the Pod.

    Hey John, I've already watched this video. It's different than the set up I have. Wish I could send you a picture of what I have. My thermostat resembles the old style in home type with control setting lever on top that you move left or right. My question also is. • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  2 года назад

      I am not sure of your set up. It seems like your thermostat only controls your furnace. So the video does not apply. Likely your A/C has controls on it to adjust fan speed and cooler temps. You will have to play with it to see how it works. Thanks!

      Margaret, I haven’t heard of this happening before. I do know that the fan is part of the A/C unit in the ceiling. It could be a loose connection based on your comment about the intermittent nature of the occurrence. You may want to look up to see if there is a mobile RV tech nearby. I would likely ask on my trailer brands Facebook group next, to see if anyone else has suggestions. Thanks.

    If you leave the AC on auto how often does the AC cycle on or at what temp does it happen? I had mine set on auto and it got to temp then turned itself off and the temp was 10 degrees higher and it never came back on.

    • @JohnMarucci
      @JohnMarucci  3 года назад +2

      Cliff, sounds like the thermostat isn't calibrated well as 10 degrees is a pretty big delta. Mine usually kicks on when it gets about the temps set and sometimes stays on pretty long after it gets below the required cooling temp (3-4 degrees). I believe there is a two-year warranty on the thermostat and would think you could call Dometic (or your dealer) to get a replacement if it is not working properly. Thanks.

      Mikki, unfortunately, I am not familiar with your model. There are some basic things to try. First, flip the breaker for the a/c unit off then back on at the fuse box. If that doesn't do it, then you can fully remove the dometic thermostat face plate and then put it back on. You'll need to wait a minute afterward, then the thermostat should be reset. If you are not comfortable doing either of these, you may consider a service call to your RV dealer or a service tech. Thanks!
