My first run through looked like your third, in five runs the flour was fine pastry flour. fresh flour does not make good loaves of bread,(actual whole wheat flour still has the germ and all the oils that are in the grain naturally) unless it is mixed with an older flour. now that my flour is a couple months old it works better when mixed half and half. this is what worked for me you may have different/better /worse results
thanks for the vid. very informative.

this mill from redchina is good to produce course meal. in the republic of china(taiwan) it´s not in use. it does some good ccurse german sourdough bread or swiss musli. perfect for a crisis. i dont regret the 15€ i paid in germany for it.

There was a brand of the Corona grain mill out there that my buddy bought & read where it was putting metal flakes in the flour. Used a good magnet & found metal shavings. Wish we would have made a video of it. We normally run it through twice also, but ours is the one from Lehmans. You can help keep grain from splattering all over the place by getting a round or square bowl & cutting it to fit over the wingnuts (if that makes any sense). We did tape a flexible cutting board from walmart to

I got an advertisement for a bread company while this was loading, LOL.
It appears the grinder did a decent job, Anthony :) . Out of curiousity relating to this prep, do you collect seeds of various grains (like wheat) so that you won't be dependent on wheat coming from stores? I guess what I'm asking is, are you prepped to possibly grow your own wheat? Thanks.

Thanks for your video. I have the same Corona grinder. It's not meant to turn wheat into flour for bread. It'll crack wheat for cereal like what you're getting out of it but won't grind fine enough to make bread. There are hand crank grinders that do make flour. The Corona is more for corn grinding.

Thanks for the info. I am going to upgrade to another grinder to make wheat flour. As you said, this grinder is good for cereals or even things like empanadas. I have a lot of friends from Colombia that still use this grinder. Take care.

I have been looking for one of these at auctions for a while now. I see plenty of meat grinders and I have both electric and manual, but I don't have the wheat grinder. I have never seen a wheat grinder at an auction. It is really surprising that I haven't. Most of the time you find good prepping stuff at the kind of auctions I go to. I may have to break down and get a new one. Good Video. Look forward to seeing how the bread turns out.

One thing I like about you Anthony, is the fact that you truly put your prepping tools to the test. Way to go! I haven't even pulled my grinder out of the box yet. Thanks for sharing.

Put the guard on it. It ill keep the mess down. I saw it came with one in your introduction video. By the way, I bought a similar one from Walmart online for $18. They look identical. Of course it's Chinese made but it's cast iron with a zinc coating.. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for the info on this. When I first purchased it and tried it out, I did see some shavings, but have not seen any since. I came with a cover, I just did not use it in the video. I will have it on for the next video for sure. My first batch of wheat did not turn out to make a loaf of bread. Something was wrong. I am going to post the video on it tomorrow.

I know I’m 8 years late, but how did you get the metal shavings to stop? Did you just have to run it multiple times and tighten it as you go before you actually used it for edible food? I just bought one and am having metal shavings come off is why I ask

That is funny.I do not have a seed collection as of yet. I need to do some research on what is best for South Florida. I would think corn, potatoes etc. I cannot grow my own food yet.

Thanks. My daughter picked it out when she edited the video. The grain mill was purchased on Amazon for $70.00. It was called E.C. Kraus Corona Grain Mill. The mill that cam is exactly the same but it is called Victoria. It is made in Medellin, Colombia. Website- victoriadotcomdotco. I will place in description box.

I'd put tin foil over the top of the mill wheel to direct the cracked grains down and stop "splashing" of the grains and flour. Cheers and thanks.

Another piece of crap machine. i would not invest a penny in such. a grinding stone is cheaper and gives better consistence.
