Sanliurfa & Gobekli Tepe

Sanliurfa ‘city of the prophets,’ in South Eastern Turkey; birthplace of the prophet Abraham. With its mosque complex, the Balikigol (pool of the sacred fish, old town, bazar, fortress and incredible archeological museum it is colourful, noisy and vibrant.
Gobekli Tepe, a short drive from Sanliurfa, is a pre pottery Neolithic site built by nomadic hunter gatherers. The site has large circular structures containing massive stone T pillars, many with carved depictions of animals and at 12000 years old is the worlds oldest known significant site created by humans. Archaeologists have yet to determine what the site was used for - possibly gatherings, ceremonies or rituals.

The video gives you a real sense of history. The remains are now well preserved, which is great. All we need to do is go and see it.....Thanks. BTW, the locals looked content and happy.
