T latch balis are old school, way before there was such a thing as a spring latch there were awesome flippers enjoying the music in which a standard latch makes...music to my ears anyway, a non spring latch doesnt mean crappy in any way
A spring latch is a latch that stay open and doesn't move whenever you do open it. A T latch does move around and this causes noise and can disrupt flipping. It doesn't make a huge difference, but some disagree.
I was told by the Benchmade team at SHOT Show this year that they were very excited about a new bali-song announcement coming out around June of this year. They could not tell me details but they were more excited about the announcement than the 62
I've owned both and the 62 isn't terrible, but it seems to be riding on the coattails of the 42 without all the things people liked about the 42 excluding the wehawk blade.
Im alright with the T latch, I think alot of you guys are focusing on that compared to other issues. This knife Was a mistake in my opinion because people wanted the 42 cause of its flippability. With the 62, It wont even compare. Its shorter, its heavier, and the balance points are far different. I bought this knife, but Like I said elsewhere. I feel this knife is Benchmades very own FU42. They are taking advantage of a very easy market.
Damn well I preordered and still haven't got mine... KnifeCenter says they are expected in July hopefully thats the latest. I saw your vid, how does it flip?
*sigh* Was looking forward to this because I couldn't find a 42, but it has a T latch and steel handles... I don't mind the steel handles, it's just that saying "My knife has titanium handles" is more fun to say..
dont they make these once a year? I hope so, I really want a 42 but I wouldn't mind getting one of these off bladeHQ once they come back in stock. sadly I missed out this time ;(
i got to handle a bm62 at a knife shop.... and i got to tell you, its awesome! i want to get two of them, and maybe a 42 if i can find it. i think both the 42 and 62 are great, and also i think it depends on what you are used to flipping also. when i get my 62 i want to modify it to make it have a spring latch like the 42 has, because to me that is the most attracting feature. i have seen it done to the kimuras and was wondering if it would also work on the bm62. :D.
I personally recommend the 51. I've owned it for a year and it flips great. Looks cool too. But sometimes the handles are just too light to perform a zen rollover. Otherwise it's a great balisong.
That Mead With Juniper Berries I’m sure you already purchased your 1st balisong by now (being that I am late to the party by 2 solid years lol), but I recommend the Benchmade 51 morpho all the way for your first bali. Extremely high quality knife and a decent price. It’s simple, looks good, and flips great. Some people complain about how light it is saying that the light weight makes it impossible to do roll overs etc this and that. However I can do every trick on my 51 that I can do on my model 42. It’s all about how you apply your skills to the knife. But yea, I definitely recommend the benchmade 51 morpho for your first Bali as it’s an all around wonderful flipper and the Light weight is great for EDC. It’s enough weight to remind you that it’s there (barely lol), but it doesn’t weigh so much that you feel your pocket being weighted down. Now even though I personally recommend the model 51 morpho for your first bali, benchmade’s 6X series have their advantages for a beginner flipper as well. Starting with a heavy balisong as your first flipper is a great way to train your muscle memory/fingers in a hurry. If you started out with say 6X series and you were able to get your hands on a 4X series down the road, this will benefit you as you will be able to put more power into that lighter knife and move it with greater speed, accuracy, and finesse. Anyways, I hope this helps! I know I am way way way wayyyyyyyy late, but better late than never :)
If you don't have the knife you wouldn't understand why it's so expensive. 222.00 for this knife is well worth it. It it doesn't have a spring latch or titanium cause if it was made out of titanium it would cost 400 dollars. And if it had a spring latch it wouldnt stand on its own it would just be a heavier 42. Benchmade has said they want the 62 to stand on its own as a great knife and get out from under they 42. I own both 42 and 62 and 42 flips way better but 62 is a better EDC.
I totally agree, I hate how cheap they're going with the materials on this despite how close they're pricing this to the 42. The sandwich construction on this is understandable given how fucking heavy it is but this is BM's marketing ploy to get people to buy these in lieu of keeping the collector's value/price of the 42's high while making a profit themselves
@@hollywoodexec1023 8 years ago when I posted the comment I had a conversation about how Bm should release a new model 42, then they came out with the 6X line starting with this 62 an upgraded 42...I should have said more than LMAO so others would get it too...
sandwich construction, SS handles instead of titanium, its much heavier than a 42 (even more than a kimura) has a t latch, and still costs the same as the 42 did, yeah no thanks BM, no thanks
1st Its a fucking floppy T-latch 2nd Sandwhich style handles (breaks easier on my opinion) 3rd 6.2 oz(Too fucking heavy for us flippers) 4th Bring back the Benchmade model 42
T latch balis are old school, way before there was such a thing as a spring latch there were awesome flippers enjoying the music in which a standard latch makes...music to my ears anyway, a non spring latch doesnt mean crappy in any way
I just bought a new one that was sitting in the dealers display case for a couple of years. I love it. It's a cool tool knife.
I love my 62 its got a really good old school feel to it
I got one for $80 used!! What a steal! Can’t wait to get flippin!!!!

Saw the picture on FB..Been excited for the video ever since.

I wish somebody could give an ETA on the 62, I check online everyday to see if it's been released..... I'm going crazy waiting!!!
i cant believe this. I've been looking for a 42 and can't find one for a reasonable price, and we get the 62... with a T latch
I think the more square T latch is the best
Im alright with the T latch, I think alot of you guys are focusing on that compared to other issues.

wow, this seems more of a fU42 than a 42 model
I love the 62 the T latch doesn't bother me great knife

A balisong that also latches open omg ....where do they find these people !!!
Hey why is there no review on the BRS Alpha Beast. I have pre order it from you guys and would live to see a review. Please and thank you!!

will a butterfly knife go through a toll in sweden?
Really weird it says its still on preorder?? I hope your right cause i really want one

Just acquired a Benchmade 62 Prototype March 2012. hopefully mine isn't a fake though..
How much will the 62 be on your website?
I Personally Like The Spring Latch
51 morpho, 62, 63, or 67 for my first balisong?
51. but if you can find one a brs replicant is great if your a flipper. edc wise 51.
I personally recommend the 51. I've owned it for a year and it flips great. Looks cool too. But sometimes the handles are just too light to perform a zen rollover. Otherwise it's a great balisong.
Lucas Bruno get the 51

I’d go with the 51 Morpho
I want to get a well made flipping balisong any recommendations? Im pretty new to this stuff :/
it will never replace the Model 42.
Right!

Just bought a black polished kimura cause there's an easy mod for a spring latch. I'm very dissapointed with the 62.
notice the spine is rounded off like the 51 or 32
DOES IT HAVE BEARINGS OR BUSHINGS?
how do you loc tite the screws?
This balisong looks badass

Can you orange balisong?
Good thing it's a prototype because it needs a lot of work.
Heck yes!
@CalviNNation So should i get the 51 instead? Im so lost in bm new shit line knives
how is it a benefit that it can latch open? most balis do that lol
good stuff
Mücevher gibi maşallah.
I want buy one but its is true balisong 62 its not a fake ?
thanks
the only thing (imho) that this has over the 42 is the rounded spine
And zen pins
Hey Cal, big fan of you. I'm very sad too...
lmao
love ur vids
What's so funny?

will the knife brake easy?
No.
why this balisong is so expensive ?
Yeah what he said?!
he showed the latch gate man
Newsflash: Prices of materials has skyrocketed in recent years. Do you think benchmade discontinued the 42 because it wasn't selling well? No...
i wish it did not have the T latch
Wait. No 42 style spring latch?
sandwich construction, SS handles instead of titanium, its much heavier than a 42 (even more than a kimura) has a t latch, and still costs the same as the 42 did, yeah no thanks BM, no thanks

1st Its a fucking floppy T-latch
2nd Sandwhich style handles (breaks easier on my opinion)
3rd 6.2 oz(Too fucking heavy for us flippers)
4th Bring back the Benchmade model 42
thinking the same thing ha!
The real question is how much does this beauty cost? I can't afford expensive balisongs :'(
This thing gave me arthritis lmao
sorry... but this seems to be to heavy, and what is with the floppy ass t-latch.... just bring the 42 back and call it a day
wait t latch wtfff
I know right???? id rather get a bradley mayhem for the money....
I did a flipping/review video if anyone's interested
my dad used to be the CFO of benchmade, so i have a ton of knives. get at me.
everything else I can live with, but it not having a spring latch is frikken absurd at this price.
Matthew Holland the 51 is cheaper and has a spring latch.
omfg
6.4 oz... are you fucking kidding me?
Oh fuck that shit. I'm getting one for 10 bucks.
eeewww T-latch
Not a fan of D2 :(
Floppy fucking latch.
This thing is heavy ugly and overpriced
