- This basic stochastic rsi trading strategy can be used on any time frame and any forex currency pair or asset that you trade. The Stochastic RSI (StochRSI) is an indicator used in technical analysis that ranges between zero and one (or zero and 100 on some charting platforms) and is created by applying the Stochastic oscillator formula to a set of relative strength index (RSI) values rather than to standard price data. Using RSI values within the Stochastic formula gives traders an idea of whether the current RSI value is overbought or oversold.

The StochRSI oscillator was developed to take advantage of both momentum indicators in order to create a more sensitive indicator that is attuned to a specific security's historical performance rather than a generalized analysis of price change.
The StochRSI was developed by Tushar S. Chande and Stanley Kroll and detailed in their book "The New Technical Trader," first published in 1994. While technical indicators already existed to show overbought and oversold levels, the two developed StochRSI to improve sensitivity and generate a greater number of signals than traditional indicators could do.
The StochRSI deems something to be oversold when the value drops below 0.20, meaning the RSI value is trading at the lower end of its predefined range, and that the short-term direction of the underlying security may be nearing a low a possible move higher. Conversely, a reading above 0.80 suggests the RSI may be reaching extreme highs and could be used to signal a pullback in the underlying security.
Along with identifying overbought/oversold conditions, the StochRSI can be used to identify short-term trends by looking at it in the context of an oscillator with a centerline at 0.50. When the StochRSI is above 0.50, the security may be seen as trending higher and vice versa when it's below 0.50.
The StochRSI should also be used in conjunction with other technical indicators or chart patterns to maximize effectiveness, especially given the high number of signals that it generates.
In addition, non-momentum oscillators like the accumulation distribution line may be particularly helpful because they don't overlap in terms of functionality and provide insights from a different perspective.

I use expert advisors to trade, however I am simultaneously learning more about trading so that I have more control with my trades in knowing when to make a proper entry and when to exit. Obviously if a currency pair is running in a downtrend and my bot places several buy positions I would want to cancel those orders. Your videos are super helpful! I am confident in my bots, just want to monitor them closely.

Thanks for the video. I'm a bit confused. You recommend changing the stochastic length from 14 to 8 for time lengths below 15 mins then you change it back to the default setting of 14 but your chart stays set to 5 mins.

20+ years in FX & Options. I LOVE your content brother & you have some advice that your viewers can't even grasp as to how valuable it is. However, I've checked her content & there is ZERO chance that she earns $10,000 / month, much less a day. I'd bet not even annually. Her info is the equivalent of reading " Forex Trading for Dummies" & not absorbing anything. Unlike you, she seems to know just enough to sell "a proprietary indicator & a system". Too many of them out there, giving horrible advice & perpetuating the losses of retail traders through repackaged nonsense. Stochastic RSI with Heikin Ashi and VWAP seems to be a very good combination of indicators. I like to trade for 5 minutes or 15 minutes, but I think a 1-hour chart is most accurate when using these three indicators. Almost every time SRSI lines cross, Heikin Ashi confirms a trend change. %K Length 10, %D Length 3, and EMA 3.

How can we be sure that a crossover on the stoch rsi will hold? I mean maybe it crosses at oversold and then the next candle or next two candles it crosses back over. What else apart from LMI can be used to further confirm the move?
Can we use a parabolic SAR or VWAP instead of 200 EMA for better and consistent results?
So theoretically the stoch RSI gives you a better prediction of trend reversals than the standard RSI?

I use the standard RSI together with the Stohtastic RSI, both with standard settings. I jump between 5, 15, 30 minutes and 1 hour because the quality of the "waves" on Stohtastic is hugely different depending on volatility.

Hi! In the video you said that the default settings for Stochastic RSI 3/3/14/14 are for M15 and above. However, for lower than M15, 3/3/14/8 are good. You have reset the settings and Stochastic RSI is up for M15, but the chart is set for M5, which means you have incorrectly selected Stochastic RSI settings for M5.
