Has 213000km on it (143k Miles) and the Brakes sound exactly like that, still do, always did. I think they fixed that with the more modern GTRs though

I've seen so many German, English, French, Swiss, Slovenian etc Car Spotters end up owning a Supercar because of their Carspotting Content and then they see some old "Volkswagen Kadett" or "Opel Manta" and freak out while sitting in a 300k Euro Car Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps

100% agree! For some Reason Carspotting is less popular in the USA than here in Europe, where to be fair that Trend originated from. I regularly watch hour long European Carspotting Videos since like 2010 from any Country, you see some of the most rare Stuff in those. I guess maybe in the USA it's less of a huge Thing because most People in the USA who own really rare and exciting Cars rarely drive them, and if they do, it's always in one big US City and only in the Luxury Shopping Area. While in European Countries you get to see a muddy Gemballa Mirage in like 20 different European Cities because over here even rich Collectors seem to drive their Cars all over the Place and regularly instead of treating them like an Investment

@@charlie1832 this reminds me of (though not carbon brakes), that C&D had to rush and get euro pads for the stinger for the lightning lap, because the american market pads wasnt able to safely handle a hot lap, because quietness outranks preventing brake fade for their US market cars.

Ladas with 1500 or 1600 engine and four round headlights was called Lada Special or Lada Specijalka over here. And they used to be very common. Maybe it's a local name, I don't know, but that's how people refer to that specific model of Lada over here.

This reminds me of me and my dad. He’s an expert on everything 60’s and 70’s and my specialty is everything 80’s and 90’s - especially rare JDM and domestic oddballs. At 75 years old his daily is ‘13 GTI 6-speed and mine is a zero-option stripper of a ‘98 Maxima GXE 5-speed. His car magazine collection goes all the way back to the late-50’s and he has almost every issue of Car and Driver and Automobile. I literally learned how to read reading Car and Driver and could probably give you the performance specs on every car from the 90’s and early 00’s - from the mundane econoboxes to all of the exotics. Can probably identify the make and model of everything from those years just by the wheels or taillights. Car guys are the best!

Saw a Mercedes B-Class EV here in Lincoln Nebraska about a year ago and I was completely baffled by it at first. Surprised it made it this far from Cali.
Car-spotting is always a blast, when you're somewhere where you can do it. When I moved from rust-belt Ontario to the (almost) snow-free west coast of British Columbia, I was floored by all of the older cars driving around, generations-past models that had all but disappeared out east. And now when I go anywhere else in Canada, I'm slack-jawed at all of the rust-bucket late-models driving around!
Doug, California is going to start having vehicle safety inspections starting (supposedly) in September. It will replace the Brake and Lamp tests for recertification of salvaged cars. It will be done electronically on the OIS smog machines. My machine already has the page on its menu. No idea how or what the test entails. Need is for airbags and other safety systems that need to be verified on salvaged cars that gets overlooked on a brake and lamp
When I lived in Wichita there used to be cars meetups right beneath/next to the railway that passes through old town. I remember seeing some pretty cool/exotic cars! Don’t know if they still do them…

For me, seeing a well preserved 80's whatever, is far more interesting than just another Lamborghini Gallardo that I've seen at Cars & Coffee 100 times already. Great video.

She bought it new. Daily driven, one-owner, never ragged on, 110,000km on the odometer. Only thing that's ever broken is the alternator. Dead reliable!
I actually remember Doug car spotting in his area for a time when he had his second channel. It’s nostalgic to see Doug do this again especially with Hoovie!

6:30 The Mercedes B-Class was a very interesting vehicle. My family leased one back in 2015 in Missouri, and while it was mentioned here in the video it was a compliance car for California, I remember it had so many problems while we owned it. It used early Tesla batteries and something about it made it have constant electrical and motor problems (which included the wole drivetrain needing to be replaced). It spent so much time in the dealership repair shop we filed a complaint under the lemon law to pay for it to be repaired. While it was in the shop, we did however get some very nice S-classes to drive around as loaner vehicles, I won’t forget that. 😂

Those first gen siennas will last forever, my parents bought an 03 Sienna Symphony new and it made it to 291k, got T boned in June 21’ and I found another 01’ fully loaded but mechanically totaled XLE (bad trans and knock sensors(both) along with a coolant consumption issue to put the drivetrain into. Recently one of the knock sensors started failing on the original powertrain I swapped, only one though, so a cheap 5 min hack fix was to splice the wire from the bad knock sensor together with the good one, avoiding a $1600 fix that sometimes doesn’t work due to the harness failing. Over 310k on this powertrain and it still drives great. My Dad even hit a tree with it in Oct 22’ and just a new radiator later it was running again, although with a dented fender on this impossible Sailfin Blue Pearl color I can’t find a fender for in the yards.
The brakes on that Ferrari sound exactly how you’d expect for a rental 😂

In 1996 there were 134297 Ladas on U.K. roads. Today there are 200. You are far more likely to see a Jaguar E type (over 6000 on the road).
