I never left Taylor. She is a genius songwriter and storyteller. I just don't understand how people can hate her or leave her. You missed a lot. She got Artist of the decade in 2019 at the AMA'S for goodness sake.
i feel like i also need to point out the fact that the only reason she played this was because the fans requested it. it wasn't a single. she spoke about this in her reputation tour on netflix... the fans gave this song a whole different life than she expected.
I can see why it's a fan favorite.. I saw in the comments on either this performance or something else that the song was originally 20 minutes long? I wish she'd release the song in its entirety, but to be able to condense THAT much of a song into what like...5 minutes and still tell a story of heartbreak is truly amazing.
Sometimes I feel like she isn't given enough credit and attention for musicianship just bcoz she's popular. People need to realise why she's so different and successful. She has some strongest expression and connection while doing acoustics. The eye contact, the expressions and the body language. (Blank space grammy performance/cma Betty performance) Then comes how she can play instruments...eg: guitar. She has good and regular strumming while not looking down. She can hold her guitar real low without the performance being affected. (Wildest dreams grammy performance)
@@WhitneyReacts so when something you like becomes too popular you give up on it because everyone likes it just like yourself? that sucks you've missed out on her AMAZING albums
I've been a Swiftie since that magical moment in March 2007 when I first heard a teenage newbie sing a masterpiece of lyrics, hooks, and plot with a knock out bridge in a song called Our Song. By a stroke of incredible luck I actually met 18 year old Taylor in 2008 and told her she'd one day be recognized on par with the Beatles, Billy Joel, and Shania Twain. Up until a year ago I was feeling pretty cocky about my prediction. But with Folklore and Evermore, I've been proven wrong. She's left everybody in her slipstream.
Nice, all too well. I’m glad you are giving TS a chance. I started my TS journey in July when folklore was released and I had never listened to an album before and had never really thought of her music as having much depth. I was wrong. What I found in my journey is that she is the best songwriter today, a phenomenal live performer, and I was amazed at her lyricism. I guess there has been much growth and evolution as one would expect from a 14 yr old to a now 31 yr old. A lot of her pop singles don’t highlight her writing capabilities and it’s only until you get into a deep dive to you realize her talent. All Too Well is hard to beat. So don’t try. And to find a deep dive with a video will also be hard to find, they usually will only have lyric videos because she never releases her best songs-little known secret. But a few with video or live video that still highlight her songwriting, are below. 1. Lover, live on SNL 2. Ronan, live telethon 3. Back to December 4. Cornelia St-live in Paris 5. My Tears Ricochet live long pond studio sessions 6. Death by a thousand cuts live in Paris
Ive been a Swiftie since 2006. You probably remember a lot of her younger vocals, if you only really listened to the first 3 albums. Her vocals have gotten way more mature and technique is better. She's gotten a lot more control of it. She used to heavily use a mix with breaths in the middle of sentences, she still uses a mix, but has more control of her belting and falsetto. I loved it then and I still love it now. But I'm so proud of her vocal journey! She's done some really amazing things in her writing throughout basically every genre. Not sure if you mentioned it, but why did you stop listening to her?
I’m one of those people that once something becomes too... popular I tend to stop listening/watching etc... it sounds dumb but that’s what happened. I had heard up to Fearless and that was it. I heard songs here and there between then and now but it wasn’t intentional.
its so interesting to me to see how people's perspective on taylor change when they actually give her music a chance and stop seeing her through the media-painted glasses that love to demonize her for who knows what reason. i'm relatively new to the swiftie community, but i can't say i ever hated her. i always had a lot of appreciation for her past work and maybe misunderstood her pop albums (reputation and I have gone through quite the journey). her lyricism is definitely stronger than its ever been on folklore and evermore, but 1989, Reputation, and Lover are nothing to overlook. Blank Space, You Are In Love, Wonderland, and Clean are pretty great works of songwriting from 1989, and lover has lots of great tracks like Cornelia Street, Cruel Summer, Lover, Death by a Thousand Cuts, Afterglow, and Soon You'll Get Better. For reputation, idk if you've already watched it, but i think the concert film on netflix is definitely the best was to experience it, that's what made the album click for me. Some of my favorites from that album are Getaway Car, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, and New Year's Day. i hope we get more taylor content from you soon, its always so fun to watch people experience her work for the first time
For her past albums, Taylor has always released singles that she thinks will do well on the charts and radioplay. But most of the time they are not the best songs on the album and do not reflect the sound or what you would expect from the other songs on her album. She has a lot of hidden gems and deeper cuts on her albums that you may not hear much on the radio because they were never released as singles.
You say you like that Taylor humanises the other person in a relationship: wait until you hear Happiness from Evermore! She also does other songs about personal accountability in relationships which are some of my favourites: Afterglow from Lover, Back to December from Speak Now, and peace from Folklore. I love that she is multi faceted and can release pure unapologetic pop moments like Shake It Off (1989) or Cruel Summer (Lover) while also maintaining integrity through more deep cuts which are actually relatable to her audience. it’s a journey but you will grow to love all her music 🤗
I have heard Back to December. I liked that it was a song where she took the blame. Most songwriters don’t do that and if they do it’s all hypothetical.
I understand you leaving. i did the same thing,, unfortunately eating up everything the media would give me and painting her as the villain when she's the opposite. im glad you are realizing what she has to offer now bc ever since i have rejoined my respect and opinion of her has only grown
@@WhitneyReacts have you checked out her folklore long pond studio session? If you liked folklore, you should check it out. She performs intimate stripped down renditions of every song on the folklore album and before each song, she talks about the creative process and inspiration behind each song.

For me when something gets too popular I just stop caring about it...I always knew she wrote her own material and I always admired that.
