This 10 minute version shows us how much beauty we miss out on because creative people are heavily restricted by record labels, publishers, and the music industry as a whole which has stripped down an art form to bare bones with a 3 -4 minute time limit. Taylor has the unheard of luxury of recording everything and anything she wants, and from a major record label. We're super lucky and blessed to be able to hear such wonderful things! ♥️

no, it's not the music industry that made her cut down the song, it's actually the consumer's (= us) Habits. Nowadays ppl skip songs after 30 seconds if it couldn't convince them, that's also why so many songs of today are under 3 minutes. This generation has such a little time span. Also, the limited time span and radio friendly songs is a phenomenon for pop music. If you take a look at some certain classic rock songs, a lot of them are over 5-6 minutes
@@liste302 That's exactly what is happening with newer artists like The Kid LAROI and Lil Nas X. I remember looking at the runtime for Montero the album and it's 41 minutes for 15 songs (Red OG's time with 16 tracks is 1 hour). They are squeezing as much possible into a compact amount of time to get the giant hits because it generates replay value and saves the consumer time. This is also how Stay by LAROI and Bieber managed to literally stay on #1 for weeks by radio and streams alone since the song is 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
@@aaliyahfoster2705 Exactly this. Songs are getting shorter now because of peoples streaming habits. Its so much easier to listen to music now so you have to grip the listener immediately or else they are skipping you. If the song is short the listener wants more so replays it hence giving it more streams than a song that is double its time. Stay is a good song tbf but I do think it wouldn't have been as successful if it was longer. I know when it first came out I replaying it and replaying it because it was short.

I think the part of the scarf being her virginity makes sense because there is a part in the song that mentioned something that was taken and can never be taken back.. this is just a theory I came up.

As far as the Grammys go, these are treated as new albums so she could win awards for them. Taylor, however, has chosen not to submit them for Grammys. She is not re-recording to get more awards, she just wants to own her work.
She was going to submit them to the Grammys but people started saying she needs to let new music have a chance 😅
I have a feeling that releasing the 10 minute version right now is such a perfect timing, because all the Swifites have now grown older and have become so mature, which can make them understand and feel the lyrics more.... like 2012 ATW version was for us kiddies to know hurt, but for 2021 ATW it's time for us to know real damn pain.

I understand why the original version came out the way it did. It was a more put together, ‘tight’ storytelling. catchy and gut wrenching and easier to listen to.
Here she really gave us the whole story like reading her actual diary, completing the story. I love that she did that for us. We’re so lucky that she cares about us so much
Saying I am wrecked is also an understatement. GOD I LOVE THIS VERSION SO MUCH lets crawl into our caves and cry. People who just faced a break up are up for a ride like "You kept me like a secret but I kept you like an oath" is so gut wrenchingly sad

It is like all of the air gets sucked out of the room when she says the line about her birthday. And that is exactly the intended effect.
Oh man when I was 21 I was in a relationship with a guy who was 27 and everything she said in lyrics and the video was how that relationship was toxic , harmful and heartbreaking I remember weeping after he called to break up with me over the phone and thinking I was trash on the ground from how he talked to me and lovebombed and treated me
Now today I’m 30 in a loving and healthy relationship and I’m loved and treated with kindness , decency, respect and love no relationship is ever perfect but I am so happy I found my forever twin flame ❤️

What’s great about this is the many of times I’ve seen Jake Gyllenhaal sipping coffee or water on a late talk show so I could actually picture how he looked doing so as he told the self-effacing jokes charming her dad over. 💔😩

You can really, really feel and see her prowess as a songwriter and as a music artist in this song and in other songs from Red. She really is a storyteller, and this made more sense with folklore and evermore's lyrical maturity.

I am old school with a little OCD. I watched the lyric videos in order. I was spent after Ronan. By the time I got to this after 2 hours, I was emotionally drained. I work as a nurse the night shift. When I was driving home in the morning, I kept crying mostly because I am so grateful for this perfect album.
I love the ending. It's like going from the old version-Fall, into the winter that followed. It's haunting and melancholy.
The original song is her feelings right after the fact, and the ending is her looking back on it and mourning it

Yesterday i'm watched reputation tour with my mother and heard this song. I was fascinated with this Taylor's song That i never heard before. And today, the full version 10 minutes long upload to RUclips. It's revealed all emotions of teenage Love relationship every second of this. And this was second Time i'm impressed with Taylor. Who clever she is to make short version of this masterpiece poetic song. It's feels great when there is still a music That resembles life. Not only entertainment That makes you forgot About your problems in your life for while. This good music i'm really appreciate. Thanks, Taylor Swift.
I believe this song was her way of closing a chapter in her life through catharsis. It's interesting how the instrumentation is almost upbeat when the lyrics are quite depressing. Creates a strange dichotomy that reminds me of "Kumm Tusser Todd" by Arianne. To be honest, I like the instrumentation better in the old 5 min version, I found the rerecording (this version) a bit too mellow, the crescendo never explodes if you understand what I'm saying. However, as a whole the 10 minute version is the better song because it allowed Taylor's vision and the entire story to come through without being tied to executives or record labels. Her voice is also excellent in this version.
