I bought a 2019 with 176 miles, a bike used for safety demo's. This was after I searched for something I could reach the ground with both feet. The XT was the only one I found that filled the bill. As a seasoned ( read older ) rider I wanted something to ride to a trail/woods area without trailering. The XT has been a bit of surprise in that it has a bit more power than I envisioned. The low end grunt is impressive and has gotten me out of situations that most 2 strokes would have left me on the side of the mountain. The suspension is ok if you don't get carried away ( don't ride with young hotshots ) tires are ok but the front gets squirrely around corners quickly in mud at speed. Ground clearance is excellent, front end hard to get up over larger logs. Most bang for the buck mods I've found are : Oversized footpegs, handlebar risers, skid plate, and handguards. By far was the 14T CS sprocket if you ride in hilly terrain. Perceived power increase is amazing and makes 2nd and 3rd gear much more useable in the dirt. If you are on flat ground most of the time you don't need it. I happened on a lowering link that I also installed making the bike another inch lower and improved stability greatly but if the seat height is comfortable you don't need it. Used for it's intended purpose, it's a great bike. And it's QUIET, something I'm liking in my later years.
Thank you for watching 🙏🏽 I try to ride a lot safer now that I do a lot of my fast riding on the tracks recently. I really enjoy just taking it easy street riding.
That’s a really nice down to earth review. The XT250 is an AMAZINGLY capable dual sport bike ! You made the right choice . I just got an email from my dealer that said they have just a couple allocations for the 2022 models and I reserved one ☝️ I’ve traveled the world , and spent a lot of time in S.E. Asia and these little bikes are highly regarded as primary transportation, especially for folks who live in rural mountain villages , and even in the bigger cities you’ll see these tooling around. The bikes that are sold in Asia are called the “ Serow” ( it’s a Japanese goat/antelope ) the technical Japanese name for the Serow is ‘ Niho Kamoshika ‘ or Kamoshika , commonly called the “ coarse haired deer” . Anyhow these XT250’s were inspired by the Serow animal which inhabits the island of Honshu Japan in a temperate deciduous forest in the mountains at elevations of 6,500 - 13,000 ft , and they can traverse through the roughest, toughest most difficult terrain with nimble and agile gracefulness . The XT250 was designed to render the Serow’s gracefulness and characteristics . It is also said to have the inspiring characteristics of a ‘ trials ‘ bike ( professional GNCC enduro cross riders practice on trials bikes ) due to the tight turning radius and contoured low seat as the XT250 has . There are actually 5 different color phases of the Serow animal , which Yamaha has payed tribute to the little animals by associating the color schemes in conjunction with the color of the animal ( yours is reminiscent of the tan / reddish colored serow ) and the 2021/2022 models are now black and grey , resembling the color phase of the black and grayish/ white serows. Sorry if I bored you , but just thought I’d share some very interesting history of the bike that will make you appreciate it even that much more . You can google Japanese Serow , you’ll see everything I’ve just talked about . Be safe and happy riding ✌️ 😎
I just bought my 2020 Yamaha XT 250 and I have been looking for some videos. I felt like yours was the most legit. I appreciate you leaving the link for the handguards. I just bought them. Been looking at many and it's hard to know what to buy. I'm surprised Yamaha don't have much for this bike. I subscribed and look forward to more vids. Peace
Hi @Michael Rose thank you for watching!! Sorry it took me a while to reply with what's happening right now. I'm glad you got an XT250 and I hope you are enjoying it as well as I am. BTW let me know if the handguards are working out for you. Mine are still solid but I don't do off road riding as much as I should but I've dropped the bike a few times and the handguards held up. If you're looking for LED headlights I will post the link below. Thanks again for subscribing and ride safe! A great review. Glad you are enjoying the XT250, it is a solid bike Removing the canister is pretty common, called a "cannister-tronomy". No smog for motorcycles. Happy Trails!
I’ve owned XT225s and XT250s. Love them more than any of the bigger, faster bikes I’ve ridden. Don’t go crazy with the mods, they’re simple machines and best kept that way. But I will say that some wider foot pegs and some hand guards (and better tires) always end up on mine.
Hi and thank you for watching!! Sorry it took me a while to reply. Yes I will be getting wider foot pegs and LED headlight I think Cyclops makes them that's what everyone that has the XT250 recommends. I'm definitely using this bike more for commute since my work is only 5 miles a day roundtrip. Considering changing my tires to 70%-30% or 80%-20% more street than dirt. Thanks again for the tips and ride safe!! Here's the link for the LED headlights if you're interested. www.cyclopsadventuresports.com/Cyclops-100-H4-LED-headlight-bulb_p_192.html
@Chaz Spellman Which one did you like better? The XT225 or the XT250? The reason I'm leaning toward the XT225 is the sixth gear. But if the XT250 with five gears is enough for higher speed, then that's okay by me, too. But just thought the extra gear might not feel like you're straining the bike at higher speeds. Also, I'm sure it'll affect the dirt riding to some extent I'm guessing, for the lower gears. Maybe I won't even feel (or know better) what the difference is, since I'd be a complete beginner.
@@huyked Honestly I liked having the 6th gear and that the 225 was a bit lighter weight. Made a notable difference in both regards. The 250 is nice because you can get EFI and not deal with carbs, and a little extra pep isn't so bad. But as long as cleaning carbs doesnt bug ya and you don't mind warming the bike up a bit (they run cold) the 225 is underrated! I want to find another one someday. Those little carbs don't like the harsh winters here and I always had to warm it up for a long time when it was cold out and clean the carb a ton in the spring so all that may be worth it to you to just get a 2013 and up 250 and have EFI.
@@chazlyle41 Thank you so very much, Chaz, for sharing your experience of the two bikes! Sounds like I would prefer the 225. I've been searching for one, and they're tough to come by.
Takes one to know one. I have a 2018 with 650 miles logged mostly on dirt roads in Colorado and Utah. I'm a 120 pound 64 year old beginner who doesn't even want to ride down busy city streets. It's still a little tall and a little heavy for me but it has the horsepower needed for 12,000 ft altitude.
Bug Brothers this bike is great. It was a little tricky when I first rode it but I got used to it riding everyday usually as an errand and commuter bike. Good choice on getting it as it is also fuel injected so you don’t have to worry about cleaning the carbs and it is also air cooled so no radiator and perfect for where you ride out in Utah and Colorado
Mine will do 70 at about 60% throttle but I'm tiny at 5'6" and 120 lbs. I do agree that at those speeds it feels a bit squirmy especially with the factory tires. It's a good bike for what it is, a dirt bike that can go on road.
That's good to hear! I've been riding a lot of backroads lately, it's just 10 to 15min longer when go to places but at least I get more time riding. Have you ever taken the XT250 on a road trip? I was considering riding from LA to to Austin. Just wondering if it can handle that long of a ride.
@@play1films I myself haven't taken mine on any long road trips because I'm limited by my geography (I live on Oahu) so the most I can do is hop on my bike and basically do a 360 around the island which will take the better half of a day depending on ones route. If you search for xt250 videos on youtube there are a few who I can't remember by name who have taken theirs on long road trips and they have some helpful insight. I know a common theme was just to understand ones limitations in regards to speed and weight regarding the light weight nature of the bike and how that plays into crosswinds and the wind rush you can get from oncoming traffic like trucks and buses. Anyway hope this helps a bit and enjoy riding!
@@Matt-ql6ox thanks for the tip and Aloha! My family is from Kailua next to Kaneohe. I'd like the get my XT250 there someday and just ride along Kamehameha HWY. Ride safe!
The seat height has me looking. I'm 63 and started out back when someone my height could touch the ground on a dirt bike. Currently on a 93 HD Electra Glide Sport, but I don't need a beast anymore. No commuting, no touring. Kinda want to get back to my roots and run the gravel and dirt roads around here. Southwest Texas so I have back roads to explore. I don't know why the companies don't just put the skid plates and handguards on as standard.
@Amos Iron Wolf The seat height is very low and around 31" inches. I'm a short rider about 5 foot 6 and I can easily plant both of feet on the ground. Also, the bike is 291 pounds wet. It's really light. This is the perfect bike just get out and ride around town especially if you have some good dirt backroads. Yes it's unfortunate that the skid plates and hand guards don't come stock with the dual sports today. It's hard to find a used dual sport bike out here in Los Angeles. There's probably more postings for used dual sport bikes out in you area. Hope you find one soon. Thanks again for watching and ride safe.
Hey, thanks so much for this really great review! I watched some of your other reviews of the XT 250 and really appreciate your style. I am picking up my XT 250 tomorrow! I’m pretty psyched it sounds like a great bike and it sounds perfect for me for what I want to do which is ride on road and some off-road/dirt roads. I’m a former Mtn biker so the idea of taking my fairly new skill of motorcycle riding on some off-road adventures is right up my alley. Thanks so much!
Thank you for watching and congratulations on the XT250! You will love this bike! Very light and easy to maneuver. Just a tip, when riding off road, I learned to use the rear brake more than the front brakes. Great for low speed controls when slowing the bike down and not loading too much weight on the front when you slow down. Lastly, here’s a cheap seat option for the bike. The stock seat is very narrow and this seat pad helped make it more comfy. Hope that help. Thanks again and ride safe! @@play1films Yeah, it is really light and responsive! I'm a former mountain biker so the rear brake usage offroad makes sense to me. I appreciate the seat tip, thanks!
Getting fat pegs on that thing was the best thing I did to mine. So much better for off road and more comfortable on road. I think the company that makes them is DMO. Also while the seat isn’t great when you compare it to other dual sports it is a whole lot better, but if you wanted to upgrade it seatconcepts are known for being amazing. Also pmracks makes a great rear rack that I should be ordering soon.
Thank you for watching! I got the wider foot pegs and helped a lot when I stand and have better control of the bike going up the mountain. I tried the Dr650 and it’s a bit heavier and taller for my taste so the XT250 was better for me. Yes I’ve seen the pmracks and that’s next on my list also. Thanks again for the tips and ride safe!
I know what you mean when you say death wobble. I got that on my mini sport bike and I had to cut the throttle back. It was scary. Great review man. You have a new subscriber. Thank you 🙏🏻
Neo-Victorian Man thank you watching and subscribing! Yes it’s pretty scary at first but it settles down later. I guess my tires were new at the time and they’re pretty knobby so you feel them on regular roads.
Moto Press Play oh that’s true. I could see that happening with the new tires. My experience was with my old Honda VLX 600 in my profile pic. It got speed wobbles at 70 real bad. 😆. Scared me good.
Your's is a very good review. I very much agree with what you say on riding XT 250 on freeways here in California. That was the reason I parted with my 2019 XT 250 though I very much like it. Regarding the skid plate, I found one on eBay for about $50. It fitted nicely without any modification on the bike.
Gamini Edirisinghe thank you for watching! I’m sorry you had to part away with this bike. It is a very tough decision considering freeways. I will look into ebay and find the skid plate. Thank you again and for supporting! Ride safe! 🤙🏾
Nice review! Thank you. I just picked up a 2019 with only 500 miles. So far it’s great ride. How has the bike been for you over the years? Still own the XT?
Thank you for watching! It’s been a while since I’ve done some reviews. Unfortunately I sold the XT250 but I’m planning to buy another XT250 again soon! It’s the most fun bike I’ve ever had. Just been doing a lot of sportbike track road racing and haven’t ridden street in a while. Thanks again and enjoy your XT250! Ride safe 🤙🏾
Just got a 2019 with 198 miles on it. I've had it for like 2 weeks and i absolutely love it. I'm definitely getting those hand guards. I did a lot of research and I spoke to a lot of riders about what i wanted and i arrived at this choice. I wanted something light and user friendly in just about everything situation & the XT250 is it. I'm not planning on doing a lot of freeway riding. GREAT REVIEW!!! Enjoy your bike ;-)
I think the death wobble you felt above 60 is because the road you're on has lines going the direction you are with the knobbies on. At least that's my experience. I have a VersysX300 and stock tires I never felt that. I could go 80+ and never feel a wobble. With knobbies I feel it every time I go on a highway with those lines anywhere around 55+.
David Caldwell thank you for watching! Yes it definitely has gone down since I’ve been riding for months.i just got used to it and actually position myself to sit further back and it helped stabilize the bike going 60+ thanks again and ride safe
Mikael Reuter thanks for watching the video! Enjoy both bikes! They are truly amazing and the XT250 is so underrated. Unfortunately there’s not too many aftermarket parts for this bike, but you can still get anywhere on any terrain with this bike.
허구라 Thank you for watching! I’m glad to hear that this bike very reliable and looking to ride it for many years to come. Thank you again and ride safe!
Thanks SO MUCH for your honest, clean review of this bike. Like you, I've narrowed my search down to the crf, the tw, and this bike. Currently on a Triumph Tiger but considering the switch to this. Thanks again for the advice!
Pricky The Dude Thank you for watching! I’m glad you are able to narrow it down to the 3 bikes mentioned above. All three are great bikes and you can’t go wrong with any of them. It just depends on the kind of riding you will be doing mostly. I was considering getting Triumph Tiger 800 later when I do more longer trips let me know how that bike holds up regarding maintenance and reliability. Ride safe 🤙🏾
Thank you for watching! I thought they discontinued this model but they just released new colorways for 2021. Definitely see if you can test ride or check out the Kawasaki KLX300 Supermoto. I might be looking to get that one as well.
@@play1films I have an xt250 and my brother recently got a klx300. I am definitely not new to off road and I very much prefer the xt250. The klx lacks the ability to tractor up a hill if you run out of power. Makes it very difficult for more extreme hill climbs, but the klx300 is better in nearly every other situation. With that said I feel good knowing that I could just throw it in first and go through anything. If riding off road isn’t the main focus than the klx would be great. It’s very good off road and has way more power.
There was already available skid plate for that one. That California legal model is similar with my last year Yamaha Serow xt250 I have. Just bought my skid plate at a local dealer in Philippines 8k (roughly 160 usd) last December 2019. Should be availlable on WeBike online if still not availlable in your area. 2020 Xt 250 is actually similar with earlier model except for those stickers. I can look for the numbers if you don’t have them or you need them thou.
Oh really? I have to check it out. I forget it's the same bike as the Yamaha Serow. Yes if you can direct it to me that would be great. Philippines that's awesome! My grandparents are from Antique in Visayas. I would love to ride a Yamaha Serow in the province. Much safer and less congested.
Andrew Click thank you for watching! Yes I realized now that it is coming from the front. Also, I’ve managed the highways and freeways as well and this bike is more than capable going 70-75mph. Thanks again and ride safe! 🤙🏾
just got my xt 250. Do not experience, this wable. road on hwy at 60-69 some 70. up hill down hill. sat back on seat, not up front. maybe it needs more wight on back end on high speed to stabilise more. likly have to go by feel to get the right balance
Hi and thank you for watching!! Sorry it took me a while to reply. Maybe I was sitting too close to the tank and also it was windy that day too. I did notice a difference that when sitting in the rear that it does stabilize the bike. Thanks again for the tips and ride safe!!
I noticed that the section of freeway you were on when you reported the “speed wobble” was grooved. I suspect that the interaction between the knobby tires and the grooves was what you felt. The feeling can be disconcerting when you first experience it but it isn’t a reason to panic. OTOH, a wobbling front fork on a smooth surface is safety issue.
Enjoy it. Two questions : does the bike come with a socket or outlet to charge iPhones ? If not, can an outlet be connected to the battery of the bike ? And does the bike have a gear indicator ? Thanks for responding.
Hello @Sun Shine and thank you for watching! So this bike is pretty bare bones. It doesn't come with a socket or outlet to charge iPhones. I do however carry a battery bank in my backpack to charge my phone or GoPro Batteries. There is a guy I follow on youtube and his name is NoOnesWatching. He has a really awesome channel for this bike specifically. You can install a universal charger to the battery to charge your iPhones. I will post the link below to show you how he installed it. I hope that helps and this bike is truly amazing. Thanks again for supporting the channel and ride safe! ruclips.net/video/5PXjDL2omTk/видео.html
oh lastly, there is no gear indicator. 5 Speed Manual and digital dash. It has a neutral light if not in gear. No fuel gauge but it does have a low fuel indicator so if that light comes on you only have about 20 miles (32 kilometers) of gas left.
Moto Press Play, Thanks for replying fast. Charging a phone is solved. Second question was forgotten : any gear indicator on XT250 ? Or riders must Chang gear based on engine sound ?
@@SunShine-yd5xu oh lastly, there is no gear indicator. 5 Speed Manual and digital dash. So you just have to hear it or feel the engine when to change gears. It has a neutral light if not in gear. No fuel gauge but it does have a low fuel indicator so if that light comes on you only have about 20 miles (32 kilometers) of gas left. Sun Shine
darksi226 thanks for watching! Just got the mad dog seat cover by Coleman from amazon around $18. Makes a huge difference from the stock seat and this added padding. Much wider and I can ride longer and did 3 hours with just the sear cover and it felt great. If you’re on a tight budget the Mad dog will do for now and just save up $150 later for a custom seat from Seat Concepts. Will post updates soon when rain season is over.
Can you get a plastic skid plate for this bike? I have heard that the metal skid plates reflect a lot of engine noise. Probably not a problem with this engine though. Enjoy
Walter Conn that’s what people on dual sports have told me. It’s makes the rattling noise but I was told to get the Moose Racing Skid plate. It’s much lighter and less rattling sound. Unfortunately, I still have to customize it and cut a piece of the metal. Thanks again for watching and subscribing!!! Ride Safe 🤙🏾!
Hi and thank you for watching!! Sorry it took me a while to reply. any of those bikes are great. I would have went with the KLX 230 if I was a bit taller. Also, I'm a Yamaha fanboy so that kinda sold it. But either the XT250 or the KLX 230 will do just fine. I hope you get your bike soon. Thanks again and ride safe!!
Ride it 55 on the freeways and just be alert for oncoming traffic. You don't buy this bike to live on the freeway. You buy it for for its affordable versatility for any path which may come your way. Freeways aren't really one of them.
Paul Patt Thank You! I’m loving this bike. It’s fun and easy to ride just as an errand and neighborhood bike. As for dirt, I’ve only been twice. The second time was in Rowher Flats and that was insane climbing up the mountain but I rode with experienced riders so fortunately I survived.
Paul Patt Yes I love both of my bikes but I give the slight edge more on the XT250 because I can go anywhere with this bike and possibly doing more off road than street. It’s perfect for my commute as well as I’m only 2 miles away from work. I will definitely plan on doing more off road especially here in LA
Yes the other day, a car stopped suddenly in front of me and I pressed both the front and rear brake. The rear brake locked up and it started fishtailing a bit, but I released the rear brake and the front brake did manage to stop the bike. They're very light bikes and they do not come with ABS unless you get the Honda CRF250L
That bike is not designed for top speed or so. Roughly it feels very healthy max to 65-70 kph. Its more for just casual backroads or chill traffic congested city roads sir. ✌️
@@toffeeavatar5011 Yes you are correct. But I was still able ride it at 65 MPH (104 KPH) comfortably. It's been amazing riding on congested city traffic and backroads. Especially on unpaved roads. Thanks again for watching and ride safe!
Two things: First, I wish the price be a bit lower on new ones. Dealers around So. Cal wanted $5,800 out the door for a 2020 model. I wish they'd be priced around $4k out the door. Secondly, I wonder if you can have knobbier tires, specially on the rear, to eliminate that "death wobble".
jsprite123 yes you are right about the price they could lower it as the MT-03 which is the standard version of the R3 is listed at on $4600. But since these bike are so reliable and easy to work on is why they would never lower the price. For the tires, my buddy has the Suzuki DR200 and he changed his tires to more 80% street and 20% dirt. He’s able to do freeways and highways easily and less wobble. Somehow I rode the XT250 on the freeway and doing about 68mph with the current tires I have and it didn’t have the death wobble I guess you just have to put more miles on the tires since they’re new and knobby. Getting knobbier tires will have less traction on street and perform better on softer dirt road. This bike is made for you to customize it with your kind of riding. If you’re planning to do more street riding and occasional dirt of light trail? I would definitely recommend an ADV bike like a Suzuki V strom or the Honda CB500x those bikes are perfect for highways and light off road or fire roads and you can find those bikes cheap on the used market.
Also the XT250 is made in Japan which is why the price is so high compared to the other 300cc standard and sportbikes which are assembled in Indonesia and Thailand which make them cheaper but also because those kind of 300cc bikes sell a lot more and they need to be mass produced.
Thank you for watching! Im the same height with 30in. inseam. The bike is super light and narrow. I added a seat pad for comfort so it’s about 33” seat height but the bike sags down about an inch and a half. I can still tiptoe both of my feet and this bike is really easy to ride. Great for beginners and goof around town. Hope that helps
CRF250L are made in China? I thought Thailand. And also stupid CA regulations. I am really looking into this bike and putting like 80 road 20 dirt tires on it for commuting duties.
@conceptcs my bad I was misinformed. Honda CRF250L parts are built in Japan but the motorcycles are assembled in Thailand. Thank you for watching! I'm about to post a new video riding on freeways/highways going 70MPH and canyon carving. This bike is legendary!! 80 road and 20 dirt is the perfect combo! This bike is a gas saver especially for commuting. $6 to fill up the tank and I get around 120-130 miles before the low fuel indicator turns on which gives the bike another 30 miles to go tops. I went with this bike because it is made in Japan and it's air-cooled. Also 291 lbs. wet and seat height is only 31.9 inches
@PenCil5899 yes my mistake it is assembled in Thailand as with other Honda motorcycles. The Honda CRF250L is a great bike and it was a close second choice for me, it's just seat height was a tad bit too high and I just didn't feel comfortable but I love the looks of the Honda CRF250L.
Will Renick thank you for watching!! It’s actually better now that I’ve been using the rear brakes more often. Yamaha is notorious for having crappy brakes tho but they make up for great engine braking.
hector Cervantes I did check the Ricochet and it still doesn’t fit mine. I still need to cut a piece of the metal. I guess I’ll just have to customize it. Thanks again for watching and ride safe! 🤙🏾
@@play1films I got it fron a guy that is call that is call "nooneswatching' the video is call" the video is call "yamaha xt250 my xt mods'' and I can see that thing that california requires in on of the sides outside of the plate maybe you can ask him
hector Cervantes yes I follow him too. Too bad he stopped his channel. I think he’s a cop now. But yeah he does have an episode where he had to customize the skid plate. So I may to do it the same way he did
Jamie Haggett I’m about 5 foot 6 with a 30inch inseam and I put both the balls of my feet comfortably. I can flat foot either foot easily if my foot is either on the rear brakes or the shifter. The seat is also narrow so you it’s easy to flat foot. Also, the weight is only 291lbs wet so it’s really light. Out of all the dual sport bikes out there compared to the Kawasaki KLR 250, Suzuki DR200, Honda CRF250L, the Yamaha XT250 is the lowest seat height at just 31.9” well technically the Yamaha TW200 seat height is 31.1” You should definitely try to sit on one at your nearby dealership but this bike is perfect for commuting and i’ve used it to deliver food on Postmates as well
Jamie Haggett this is definitely a great bike. Just a little underpowered. If you don’t mind a carbureted bike I would recommend the Suzuki DR650. I also did a review on the bike. More power and capable on the freeway or Highway. Just a little heavier at 365lbs and a sear height of 35” but I was able to ride that bike without a problem as I can flat foot the bike on each leg. Check out the video review when you get a chance my only on Suzuki DR650 is that it’s carbureted. I’m no mechanic which is why i went with the Yamaha XT250 plus i love that the bike is super light
Jamie Haggett also the good thing about the Yamaha XT250 and the Suzuki DR650 is that they are both air cooled so won’t have to worry about the radiator and your bike overheating, also if you happen the drop the bike on trails, you won’t have to worry about damaging the radiator and having to walk the bike back down the mountain. I’ve seen riders fall with the Honda CRF250L and they had to walk down the mountain coz the radiator got destroyed when they fell
Brandon Leal If you can 2-stroke it that would be awesome! I was told to upgrade the suspension so it’s just a bit more stiff for stability but other than that this bike is amazing!
The wisdom of 16 yr olds.. On my first bike (a puny 2 stroke 80cc Suzuki) I'd wind it past 65 getting sucked down a long incline behind a semi. Yaaa bay-bee!
I don't know where you can get a California skid plate, but I would just leave California all together. Its turned into a leftist dump that's embarrassing to the rest of the country.
Only low to NO information voters support the lying "anti constitution" (marxist) dems and their LW media lapdogs. You want Venezuela 😥, Vote dem! Now back to more interesting stuff like MCs.. I like the xt250 but am leaning towards getting a TW200. Who knows, they're both boss.
@@sscbkr48 I have the TW200. I put an ATV tire on the rear. The bike will go through almost anything. The bike is reliable and can take a beating. I geared it down. It performs a lot better in the woods, but only goes about 60mph with me on it. I weigh 180lb and in 5th gear it struggles. Really I don't care about on road performance. My main complaint is the suspension. It will slow you down more than the motor. You hit ruts or rocks on the trails hard....especially with the front suspension. I'm looking to get an XT250. Hopefully it will have better suspension and a little more power. It should handle more more like a dirt bike than the TW too.

That’s a really nice down to earth review. The XT250 is an AMAZINGLY capable dual sport bike ! You made the right choice . I just got an email from my dealer that said they have just a couple allocations for the 2022 models and I reserved one ☝️
I’ve traveled the world , and spent a lot of time in S.E.
Thanks for this honest and thorough review. I'm seriously considering going dual sport and the XT sounds like a perfect choice.
Mine are still solid but I don't do off road riding as much as I should but
I've dropped the bike a few times and the handguards held up. If you're looking for LED headlights I will post the link below. Thanks again for subscribing and ride safe!

A great review. Glad you are enjoying the XT250, it is a solid bike
Removing the canister is pretty common, called a "cannister-tronomy". No smog for motorcycles. Happy Trails!
EM FL thank you! I’m looking into removing the cannister.

@Chaz Spellman
Which one did you like better?
@@chazlyle41
Thank you so very much, Chaz, for sharing your experience of the two bikes! Sounds like I would prefer the 225. I've been searching for one, and they're tough to come by.
@@huyked I never should have sold my 2006! I even had it since new! Good luck. You can't go wrong either way! Safe riding!
Moto Press Play Thanks for the quick reply. Will take a closer look at the bike when I sell my big beasty.

Ride safe! 🤙🏾
When you search eBay, search for "Stainless Steel Skid Plate for Yamaha Serow XT 250". This fits the current XT 250, too
Nice review!
Tires make a big difference for death wobble
I enjoy watching your videos. Thanks.
Nice vid. Same bikes here man: 3.5 yo R3 and XT250 with 3000km on clock
Mikael Reuter thanks for watching the video! Enjoy both bikes! They are truly amazing and the XT250 is so underrated. Unfortunately there’s not too many aftermarket parts for this bike, but you can still get anywhere on any terrain with this bike.

Looks like fun bro. I want to buy one ASAP now.
It’s very good off road and has way more power.
use a damper !
Yamaha sells it here in Japan,
stabilizes the bike (highway).
Oh yes didn’t think about that. Thanks for the tip! Thanks again for watching and ride safe 🤙🏾

The death wobble has nothing to do with the back tire. The wobble is the front end shaking not the back tire just a FYI good review
Thanks again for supporting the channel and ride safe!

oh lastly, there is no gear indicator. 5 Speed Manual and digital dash. It has a neutral light if not in gear. No fuel gauge but it does have a low fuel indicator so if that light comes on you only have about 20 miles (32 kilometers) of gas left.
Moto Press Play,
Thanks for replying fast.

CRF made in Thailand. XT the perfect starter bike., or traveling the world.
Stephen Moore yes my mistake about them being assembled in China. I love this bike it can do everything! Thanks for watching!
The made in China part are trash for Honda. The hardware steel are too soft and stripped easy.
Ride it 55 on the freeways and just be alert for oncoming traffic. You don't buy this bike to live on the freeway. You buy it for for its affordable versatility for any path which may come your way. Freeways aren't really one of them.
Eric Williams thank you for watching! I ride the bike mostly for in town commute and off road. Not much on freeways anymore
Hello. Great bike! How do you like it so far? How many rides have you done off road so far?
Paul Patt Thank You! I’m loving this bike. It’s fun and easy to ride just as an errand and neighborhood bike. As for dirt, I’ve only been twice. The second time was in Rowher Flats and that was insane climbing up the mountain but I rode with experienced riders so fortunately I survived.
@@play1films Do you see yourself going off road more in the future?
Paul Patt Yes I love both of my bikes but I give the slight edge more on the XT250 because I can go anywhere with this bike and possibly doing more off road than street. It’s perfect for my commute as well as I’m only 2 miles away from work. I will definitely plan on doing more off road especially here in LA
it has got fishtail issue (100~120 km) but i think most of light dual bike has got the same problem.
@@play1films yes they has got the same problem, xt250 it's about 100kg. crf is 130kg.
That bike is not designed for top speed or so. Roughly it feels very healthy max to 65-70 kph. Its more for just casual backroads or chill traffic congested city roads sir. ✌️
@@toffeeavatar5011 i totally agree with your point.
@@toffeeavatar5011 Yes you are correct. But I was still able ride it at 65 MPH (104 KPH)
comfortably.
How tall are you brother? I’m 5’6 and wanted to gauge how I’ll fit on the bike, thanks
@@play1films thanks man!

The Honda CRF250L is a great bike and it was a close second choice for me, it's just seat height was a tad bit too high and I just didn't feel comfortable but I love the looks of the Honda CRF250L.
with only 250cc of air cooled power you really are HANDICAPPED 😆
Buff Barnaby it truly is 😂 but it’s perfect for a neighborhood bike
Would that explain why the bike is parked in “handicapped only parking?”
You can get better brake pads and braided brake lines

How tall do you think you need to be to flat foot ??
Jamie Haggett I’m about 5 foot 6 with a 30inch inseam and I put both the balls of my feet comfortably. I can flat foot either foot easily if my foot is either on the rear brakes or the shifter. The seat is also narrow so you it’s easy to flat foot. Also, the weight is only 291lbs wet so it’s really light. Out of all the dual sport bikes out there compared to the Kawasaki KLR 250, Suzuki DR200, Honda CRF250L, the Yamaha XT250 is the lowest seat height at just 31.9” well technically the Yamaha TW200 seat height is 31.1”
You should definitely try to sit on one at your nearby dealership but this bike is perfect for commuting and i’ve used it to deliver food on Postmates as well
Moto Press Play I’m 5’8 and I ride a 2001 Harley Davidson 883 and I want to get into dual sport thought this might be a good option
Moto Press Play I’m also thinking about the drz400
Cool bike but the California version with that emissions canister blows. Don't vote Democrat.
Facts
Thats not the death wobble.
dude, you parked in handicapped slot
also have stock tires
Yamaha scorpio naik cc
My top speed on xt250 is 90 mph 💀
Brandon Leal man Props to you for going that fast and still have stability
I actually wanna fix my Xt250 like a motocross 2stroke because I like off roading better especially in Vegas
I smell bullshit lol!
Nice to see that a handicapped person can ride a dual sport bike.
Are the garage rats your pets?
Move out of California.
I don't know where you can get a California skid plate, but I would just leave California all together. Its turned into a leftist dump that's embarrassing to the rest of the country.
Yea and it is important to not let the rest of the country become California
They just came out with a report that all the democratic cities have the highest homeless rates.
I left Cali in 1993 and moved to Colorado. No regrets.
Get the hell out of California
