WHY YOU SHOULD NOT IMPORT A R35 GTR... THE UNTOLD TRUTH!!

  • What is going on guys!
    For this video I decided I would share some information I wish I knew when I was in the market for a GTR.. As said in the video, this is not at all a dig on the person I bought my car through, just a very honest conversation on how it all went down, and what I have learnt since buying the car.
    I personally spent hours watching reviews of GTR's before biting the bullet and the general feedback was all the same.. the older models gearboxes are weak.. but never anything on what to look out for/ be prepared for when you are actually purchasing the car.
    This video, is purely my opinion and my circumstances so of course dont take my word as fact and do your own research as much as you can!
    If you have any question please feel free to leave a comment below, or DM me on FB or Instagram @ausautomotive

    Thank you for doing this mate. It’s a very tough lesson to learn at a young age with that amount of $$.
    So many Sharks out there, and I am sure you are aware it’s not just importers. Dealerships are the worst, especially if you find a car in WA or mega long distances. The bs they feed you……they need a good thumping.
    Hope you get back on your feet with this one, definitely not telling you to suck eggs, but you won’t ever make that judgment error again. Believe me, I know!
    All the best and thanks again.

    We had full inspactrion done before buying and the result was good. We bought the and took it to the GT garage and full service was done and no problems were found. We are happy. I feel sorry for you. But before buying it, we were ready to buy a GTR from the same person you bought it from. Thanks for warning us. It's not just you, the same person has upset many people.

    Sounds like the pretty typical experience of buying an imported car that a flipper has brought in, Avoid serial resellers and dealers, I've imported multiple cars and i would only use Ironchef or Ben at Jspec, honestly buying a used GTR already in aus is a massive risk with the known issues these cars can have. having imported multiple cars through Ironchef i honestly cannot recommend them enough, if you imported one yourself you couldve avoided giving Himmy the 20k profit he no doubt made on you and many unsuspecting others, the money saved by actually importing wouldve made it far better financially. all the best with the car in the future man and definitely look at a buying agent next time you go to get an Import.

    I had an Australian delivered one and Northside Nissan (Perth) and Seaview Ford (Perth), both part of AHG Group, falsified reports to hide a serious transmission problem, known to both (broken shift selector 2nd gear - car still changed gears but was ticking time bomb and potential death trap). I traded it in with, 79,000km and a young guy from Victoria called me 2 years later asking how many km the car had when I sold it because it now had 36,000 km on it. He had bought it from a dealer. Seaview Ford sold it with a 100 point mechanical inspection on the car sales ad. Northside Nissan admitted this would not have picked up the transmission issue. Seaview Ford stated the car had never been launched in the ad. I launched it 100 + times and loved every moment of it. I launched it within 30 seconds of picking it up from the dealer. Northside Nisan were well aware it had been launched. Go figure… You can’t trust the dealers here either. You can just get a gauge cluster with lower km on these and it will display that on the dash irrespective of import or Australian delivered, so do your research on the sales history - it’s very hard to get that history on an import car.

    • @AusAutomotive
      @AusAutomotive  3 месяца назад

      The price has come down a fair bit I think, I think it comes down to more who you buy from. Not where. If wanting an import, I think it’s best to do it through a reputable place such as justjap. I wouldn’t go down the private importer route ever again. 2nd best option would be flying over and making a trip of it and picking one.

  • @ishyr3414
    @ishyr3414 6 месяцев назад +2

    Defs on a case per case basis, I imported one through a reputable importer at a similar price - had the car inspected by himself where he sent photos of interior and exterior prior to bidding
    I’ve driven it 5k km’s now with a fair few spirited drives and it’s been phenomenal

    Thanks for the heads up, im on the market for one of these and was about to contact an agency that imports them for you. Would still buying an import that is ALREADY in australia be good since you can at least inspect in person or you would avoid imports alltogether and go for australian delivered? Theres not many on the market that are australian delivered.

    • @AusAutomotive
      @AusAutomotive  5 месяцев назад +1

      If you’re wanting an import, I’d suggest justjap. They pull the gearboxes out and inspect and service every single gtr that they import.
      That’s who I’d trust.

      @@AusAutomotive I’ve had some interesting support experiences with Nissan with my 370z and I wouldn’t want to make that any harder with a more expensive car.
      I think the local support when issues arise is critical , even outside of the warranty.
      The import process has always been full of dubious characters for Aussies

    Thank you for your very well informed video! I was thinking about buying a Japanese imported JDM, but I noticed some of the advertised cars are already having cracked dash. Even for the same models sold both in Japan and Australia, such as Lexus IS, GS, etc., the glue or any materials used for different markets may not be the same.

    • @AusAutomotive
      @AusAutomotive  10 месяцев назад

      No worries, and correct. the glue used in japan is different to what is used in Australia. I don’t know why they can’t just use the same stuff so no matter where it’s sold, it doesn’t have problems. makes no sense to me.
