Whenever we find abandoned locations such as this one with the power still on, we often receive a flood of messages claiming the location isn’t abandoned or that it’s just a seasonal home. Every location we explore on this channel is in fact abandoned, and I believe this location to be a prime example of how it is possible for abandoned locations to still have power. How did it come to be this way? Watch this unusual explore to find out!
@@marleneppaul It doesn't look like they left anything of real value. Maybe it was moldy so they decided to walk away instead of taking contaminated stuff with them. They were trying to catch water in things so there was a water problem.
Considering how much that house has degraded in only a few years, I think being forced to abandon it was a blessing in disguise. It also looked like every hallway and room had a space heater, so it must have been poorly insulated/drafty.
There was a woman here in Las Vegas, Lucille Payne, who died sitting in her chair. Her bills were on auto pay and for 2 years, no one ever checked on her. Then squatters got in, buried her in backyard and sold all of her belongings. Truly sad story :(
This is 110% true, I'm a vegas native here and that story's sad man. When I was living on the East Side down by Boulder Station in my 20s I was on drugs and going in to those abandon houses was super creepy becuase I was homeless and wanted some where to go. There were a ton down there back in 2015 too.
It is pretty astonishing that a house that long abandoned and is that decayed still has power. I agree that a spark or a short out would certainly be its demise. Great video as always!

I'm ready to go exploring again... you've inspired me. Love your videos... of course my low budget videos will just be for my own entertainment... love your channel!
That's a lot of decay for just 5 years. It definitely looks like the main thing left behind were all their books - which is one of the most difficult things to move, especially if you're going far. This seems like a family who moved far away enough that they had to fly or take some other mode of transportation that wouldn't allow for them to take things like heavy books and furniture. It seems like most of the clothes are gone. Very interesting, I always love these kinds of finds
Everytime I see the power still on...just wow. Also, so much left behind! Those essential oils aren't cheap either. Looks like they were in a hurry. Maybe mold specialists came years ago due to the leaks, warned them of the bad air & how dangerous it is & they got out fast & left behind items that were too contaminated & couldn't be cleaned, like all those books. Sad, yet amazing!!
I like this old house full of stuff, even though it's already pretty decayed. Also strange, that the electricity still works and not all fuses are blown. Thank you for the great video.
It was definitely an interesting find! Always unique to find abandoned places with the power still running, and thank you! Im glad you enjoyed the video!
I thought, what if the people who abandoned these houses actually saw your videos on youtube and explained life in some of these houses and why it was left behind.
I think it’s safe to assume that the house was already in a state of disrepair when they were still living in it, cause that is a LOT of decay for only 5 years.
Yeah, an entire roof is not going to just rot and collapse all in just 5 years. The roof was likely already failing long before it was abandoned. The fallen insulation and drywall is probably from high humidity from the leaky roof but still crazy decay for 5 years.
Seems like a huge fire hazard. I always feel a certain kind of sadness in these homes where the occupants just seem to have vanished and left everything behind. Pictures and things that can't be replaced. Who pays the electric bills on these long abandoned homes and structures?? American here and this would be super rare. Most of these with power seem to be in Canada.
Great explore, I would've wore a respirator for that one, I'm loving the creepy vibe in that house. That's was weird how that monitor just turned on all of a sudden, and Brennen with "Please don't be smelly" you're a brave man. 😂🤢
This was indeed a very unique explore, thank you! A couple words of caution though - don't risk touching anything electrical in THAT type of an environment, seriously. Go ahead, ask me how I know. haha. Also, please don't use your bare hands to touch anything in those places, just trust me on that.
I was going to guess it was a abandoned in mid 2000s because of the stuff inside and the level of decay but holy crap 2017. That's a ton of damage to happen in just 5 years. It kind of makes me wonder if the house was already going to shit when it was lived in causing the family or Lans owners to just sat fuck it and leave.
We believe the reason the house looks so decayed is the house had "blown in" insulation on top of a plastic barrier. When the roof leaked and the attic got cold and wet the plastic became brittle and the insulation weighed so much wet it fell through the ceilings. The owner could have been out away while the court case settled. He walked in and saw that mess and walked away.
This was a very interesting video. It's pretty weird seeing a house in this shape of decay with LED lightbulbs in the closet and a flat-screen TV in the living room. You can tell it's an old house, but it's just weird seeing all that modern tech around. One interesting thing is all the space heaters scattered around the place, which almost makes me think the house was in a state of disrepair when still in use, which would explain such extensive roof damage in that relatively small time.
Here is my theory, it was a dispute so bad the other property owner said "I own the house and everything in it", guy decided to leave instead of fighting over it. To keep from being forced to demolish the house the power is being kept on to pass it off as a real residence. Whoever owns it now pays for that to stave off demolition fees.

Wanted to mention something first before I get into the main picture. at 12:40 that isn't the fluorescent, I'm pretty sure that's an exhaust fan motor, bearings are probably shot from all of that water. Considering the fact that this has only been abandoned for only 4-5 years, and after examining the walls and the fallen ceiling, this could possibly be earthquake damage, and there could've been more things to add on to it, I could be wrong though. A house in this shape and it still having electricity would be a huge fire hazard I could imagine, I am absolutely shocked.
That’s super creepy that the electric is still on. All the personal belongings left behind is quite sad. There have been more and more homes like this around the world and something is not right.
The only reason I can think of for leaving the power on would be sheer stupidity, or insurance fraud for the inevitable fire. Personally I would kill the main breaker if I came across such as house.

More than likely the parents passed, while the property line dispute got real bad, and the kids werent allowed to get anything from the house, or own it so it was forced abandoned by the neighbor, and the power company just charges the neighbor for it. They probably don't notice since nothing is ever used.

Interesting how in only 5 years of no one living there the roof has fallen in. Yet I wonder if ppl were living there still and likely doing no maintenance to the roof would it be ok? Did their roof really only have 5 years of life left? It always puzzles me how fast a place decays when abandoned.
I would venture to say someone lime a squatter has jumpered out the meter socket. I would look for the meter box usually on the side of the house or a pole. When you cant pay your bill, the power co comes and pulls your meter, and puts a blank out cove over the opening. There is still power coming into the top line side of the meter socket. All one would have to do is either jumper the socket with 2 metal bars or purchase a 200 amp electric meter on ebay, and stick it into the meter scoket thus passing power into the house, and you know light bulbs do burn out over time, and i cant believe that the bulbs have not burned out from being left on to long. I have a gut feeling that some one tried to squat in this house at one time, and reconnected the power, and is replacing the bulbs. Still you think the Hydro company would do a audit from time to time and check the meter box. Also that garage door opener looks fairly new. They started making those lighted button panels that had the time of day on them around 2015. Thqt is probably a Chamberlain lift master garage door opener. Me being the electrical genius i am, i would be investigating why the power is still on. A big fire hazzard. Just discovered your channel thanks to the other guys exploring with you. I put them up a couple nights. Looking forward to checking your explorations out.
2017? I know there were 2013 calendars in this house, nothing in there looked newer than 2013, so this house has been abandoned for at most 9 years. If this house had been cleaned out, and there was nothing to go on other than the level of decay and the architecture, I'd think this house had been abandoned since the pre-airbag era, or maybe the era when front airbags were just starting to come out. Some time between 1985 and 1995. This is a house that's had 30 years of decay in just 5 to 9. And with the power on, this place is nothing short of incredible. Normally I prefer to see places abandoned at least 10 years, 15 or more is my ideal. But the combination of this place being packed and the juxtaposition of things you'd find in a modern house with power on and so much decay is truly unique. June 8, 2022 4:03 am
I understand the ethics in terms of urban exploring and leaving things be, but the archivist and lost media side of me is just screaming that when that house falls apart or is demolished there's gonna be so much lost...
They got shocked because the dryer wasn’t grounded properly. The Plug on the end of the cord has to have 3 prongs. One for hot, one for neutral, and one for the earth ground. The ground prong was probably broken off so it fitted into a two prong outlet thus defeating the purpose of the ground causing a back flow of current, energizing the metal housing of the dryer.
The house looks to be a rental on a farmers property. The house was dumpy and the tenants messy so the farmer kicked them out and just left the house to rot. Happens all the time in northern Michigan.
I wonder if they had an automatic pay with utility company and even if the owner died as long as there money in bank it would keep getting paid the bill would be low so could go on long time till money's gone. Love you alls videos
this stuff is always bizarre to me- like this family just up and left leaving behind all their things. it doesn't make any sense and makes it creepier.
I wonder if the family all died suddenly, like a car accident or something and there was no will but a big mortgage on the house so the bank owns it and it just sits there and no one at the bank cares as it's just an entry in a book. Anyway, I can't think of any other reason but I'm sure there are many.

*Snowlagmite* (n.) - A snow formation that resembles a stalagmite.

@@UnchartedTravel class mate. 👌
These are the type of explores I enjoy watching. Abandoned with a creepy vibe.

This is amazing! 😮
Fantastic explore Brennen
I understand the ethics in terms of urban exploring and leaving things be, but the archivist and lost media side of me is just screaming that when that house falls apart or is demolished there's gonna be so much lost...
Love your videos!! This one was really good!! 👍
That new of a,home!? How could a roof be that bad! Even up north. Wow. Sad.
this is a neat video just be careful turning lights on in places like this
Can't believe all that decay occurred in just 5 years. crazy. Also the first time I've heard "snowlagmite". 😄
did you not spot the old flip phone in that wardrobe? cool find for the location x
Wow. Minnesota. Same. No pay. No power
I would like to see videos of someone buying one of theses homes and watch it get renovated
Imo, it's still weird to just abandon everything due to a property dispute ....
Its definitely very possible! Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoy the content!
This is a crazy explore dude!
this stuff is always bizarre to me- like this family just up and left leaving behind all their things. it doesn't make any sense and makes it creepier.
Do you know how long ago the home was abandoned? Nice video.
As soon as I saw that light shining onto that chair like that, that would be the second I high ball it out of there.🤪🤪🤪
Those little white snow mounds look like cocoons. Scary cocoons. Monsters emerging soon.
A abandoned house, lights still on?
That would be creepy as hell!
I wonder if the family all died suddenly, like a car accident or something and there was no will but a big mortgage on the house so the bank owns it and it just sits there and no one at the bank cares as it's just an entry in a book. Anyway, I can't think of any other reason but I'm sure there are many.
Abandoned in 2017 it's only 5 years ago how is the house in that bad of shape all ready??
Grate vid 👍🏻
