A Dishonest Contractor TRIED TO GET ME SUED. Cost customer big $$. Foundation nightmare

    You should never pay for a compaction test. I have learned from experience the GC or customer should hire and pay for all compaction test. That way if down the road there is an issue you will not have a conflict of interest.

      Compaction tests are performed by a third party engineering company, there is no "conflict of interest" it either passes the required compaction or or it fails. If your doing a job that requires compaction its on you NOT the GC or especially the customer.

      @@siraultman7631 if I’m paying you to check my work in legal terms it is a conflict of interest because there can always be the pressure for you to pass it even if it fails because I am the paying customer. If it’s the GC or client paying for you to check my work then the conflict is not with me.

    congratulations for your channel, also for your good work, you are definitely an informative and motivational window, I am a heavy equipment operator with more than 10 years of experience in my country Venezuela, now I live in this country in Houston Texas, I had never before I have worked with a mini loader, now I am doing it for a company, I never gave it importance because of how small the machine is, now I see how versatile and functional it is, I would really like to learn from you how to start and invest in my own business, thanks once again

    Not sure why the pad wasn’t certified in the first place. In the future, get the pad certified immediately upon completion so no one can disagree and for the customer’s peace of mind.

      Yeah I offered to pay for all of it from the get go, customer initially didn’t went to get an engineer involved even before we brought stone in. He is a brand new GC and I’m a new excavation contractor. For sure a learning experience.

      @@MORE_DIRT I understand. Put the compaction certification costs in your quote…put everything in your quote that covers your six. If the customer refuses you walk, because if the house was built on it and someone questioned the pad you would be sued, and for a start up that could end you before you got started.

    This is why I don't do long term work. And I never put up upfront money. The only thing I loose is my time and a hundred dollars on fuel..if someone decides to pull a fast one.if the pay upfront that's a different story.Then I get paid as I'm leaving.. For me.. a 10 or 15 thousand dollar hit is too much

      I personally don’t do many long term jobs. The original part of this job started in June of 23 and my part was done in a week. The other contractor drug their feet that long, caused a disaster.
