🤔If I had the money to either get a Tesla versus a Tesla car I would choose the Tesla Optimus bot.🤯 And here's my reason why I'm on SSDI I'm disabled it could help me with everyday tasks at home that is hard for me to do yet alone anywhere else. 🌎✌
Probably Optimus will first used in Automotive, then installation of powerwalls, solar roofs etc., then suppliers (to decrease costs). Most probably Tesla will also be involved in other areas like wind energy, nuclear energy (getting also rid of nuclear waste) and areas which nobody thought of (precision fermention etc.)
If I were Elon, I would use the Tesla bot in house to increase my production Above my competition.
I think this is what Elon was thinking when he says they have the most advanced manufacturing techniques in the world

I'm simultaneously happy for Elon and his company,and the future of his robots,but I can't help but worry about the future decent employability of human workers and the impact on their lives.
There will be personal bots, and corporate bots. 2 different prices as well! Also, he may lease to commercial use, just to make it easier to roll out. (no huge up front cost for large companies). The bot can work 3 full time shifts, thus replacing the 3 salaries. work at least 100k per year commercially per unit leased out. (This would save the employers 50% of their labor costs, with no upfront cost! )
It isn't just up to Tesla to determine all these things - there are dozens of other humanoid robot companies out there.
Yes, yet all of them has nothing to show, nothing that could replace human work. A robot like NS-5 from I Robot movie would easily cost 65 000 dollars, Optimus is not worth 10 dollars as of right now because it is utterly useless, it can even do groceries for you.
None of those other companies have the capacity to scale production and they don't have the AI training models or data sets.

RUclips prevents me from sharing a link, but here is the headline: "China Ministry Pushes for Humanoid Robot Mass Production by 2025". Besides all the American companies involved in this area, there are literally dozens of other countries pursing this.
Personally, I wouldn't have the slightest interest in a robot, even if I could afford it. It seems to me that by far the highest percentage who will want one, will be companies trying to reduce human staff, and bad actors.

Even if the $20k is a lease price per year, Tesla will be a very rich company very quickly. If it can replace an employee making $15-20/hr, then it's a no brainer to pay $20k for a lease instead of hiring the employee. When I was a truck driver it wasn't too uncommon to see companies charging $20/hr or even $50/hr for lumping services, though admittedly $50 was pretty insane. One of these robots would do that job admirably, and at that rate, working 24/7 you'd make bank even with the $20k / yr lease.

AI solution to fix most of our current problems with the Tesla bot and full self-driving. it may be possible to create a right brain left brain architecture one side governed by coded rules and the other side by neural net this will create an intuitive bots that will obey the rules that's information
I'd buy a bot rather than buying a car. It could run to the places I need to be and act as *me* at the location I want to go to.
Imagine a million bots with each one of them learning how to do a specific task and those one million tasks each getting uploaded to DOJO where the knowledge will teach the other 999,999. They won't have to be individually programmed. That block separating task will already be known by every bot that comes off the line because it's part of the central brain. Imagine a bot that comes preloaded with all the knowledge of the internet...

Automation is always good for a factory because it saves both time and costs for the manufacturer. Employment issues will certainly be affected and we do not deny this. However, you know that there are models that require manual assembly such as Tesla Semi, and Tesla Bot(now), so recruiting labor to assemble them is still extremely necessary.

I think leasing would be the way to go to make more money, and also to keep his technology as safe as he can. But there's going to be the people who steal a lot of his ideas, but it will take them much longer to do that by leasing them, simply because it's not your property and you should not be touching and taking things apart. At the end of the lease term the customer can return the equipment, buy it for about 10% of the original price, or upgrade to the mext generation. With internal financing Tesla would maske 60K per bot, plus maintenance and parts or consumables. Why would Tesla do it any other way?

We appear to be at the point where a bot could replace some employees. I see one bot being as productive as 4 or 5 employees over the course of a week.
At first I felt a little intimidated by its height, but now can it be programmed to clean ceiling fans? They start to look furry after a while.

Tesla bought will be under 20k Elon said. 60k-150k is based on competitors. The reason Tesla is cheaper is because their battery, software and actuators are already developed and cheaper for them to use.

So Elon Musk has said that anyone can build a prototype, that’s the easy part, what’s hard is scaling to a production level where you can make a profit.
So it’s anybody guess as to whether or not Tesla or someone else can make a humanoid robot that can mimic or replicate, a humans ability to do simple chores like empty a trash bin, do laundry, mop and vacuum floors, make up a bed, etc.
So here’s the thing from my point of view, are these things possible? I think so. Will it happen? I say probably, but what we don’t know is in what timeframe will we ever see, a humanoid robot whether it is produced by Tesla or someone else ever actually do some kind of practical useful work on such a personal level as having someone take care of your house chores, and so until I see that happening, I will believe it.
So the most immediate problem to my mind is to understand and be able to think beyond just a robot as a personal servant, but as a money producing enterprise, that they have a high can operate in industries that have high injury rates/environmental hazards, because if you think about it, imagine a RoboCop doing policework like chasing down bad guys, overnight we could almost eliminate any police officer ever having to lose their life to some moron with a gun.
Think about the environment in which firefighters have to work, and how many of them we’ve lost because they had to go into a burning building to rescue somebody that they thought was there, and losing their lives only for us to later learn that there was no one there to rescue, because everybody had gotten out of the building, and so overnight we could eliminate these types of hazards/injury/fatalities bringing them down to zero.
So think about the military, and how many soldiers have we lost to enemy fire, because we didn’t know where the enemy was or if we did know, the roads we needed to travel was littered with land mines, so overnight we could almost eliminate a lot of these types of fatalities/injuries that leads to terrible outcomes and disabilities.
So think of the number of lives that can be saved when our cars, light/heavy duty trucks are no longer driven by humans who make huge mistakes, and make bad decisions/judgments, like driving while under the influence alcohol with some other prohibitive substance, driving while fatigue, too tired because they didn’t get sufficient sleep the night before they took to the road.
These things could be totally eliminated, because the machine is a machine, not subject to making stupid decisions/judgments or errors, because the machine doesn’t get tired, it doesn’t take drugs or illegal substances, and so the machine knows to seek the necessary help in order to right itself, and get back on the road without causing an incident, and so there are so many possibilities that doesn’t involve a human type robot, because we don’t need a human type robot to drive a motor vehicle, because the vehicle is the robot, but until we get to the point where we have a working humanoid robotic machine, that can do the kinds of things humans have been doing for centuries now, it’s all speculation and nothing more. The price is just too high. Even if a tesla bot costs an average persons annual salary to buy - show me anyone who can afford to give up a years salary to get one? Sure, a factory or manufacturing business can easily pay someones yearly salary to replace them forever. But people cant. So it'll be great for indiustry and shareholders but irrelevant for the people. If I could lease a teslabot body in a foreign country which I could see out of and have follow my movements exactly, I'd hire one instantly. Instead of paying to fly to another country, pay for accomodation when Im there and travel to and from venues, I'd just use a Teslabot embodying *me* sitting in a chair at home.

I don't need a bot.
I'm a long time Tesla owner/fan. But Elon it wrong about the viability of the humanoid robot form. Making it more human-like doesn't make it more useful, in fact now it's limited to what a humanoid can do and will NEVER do everything a person could. And making them all the same is worse! Should it stand in a factory packing widgets and never use its legs? The factory fork-lift of the future will be driven by AI and have cameras to see all around. It won't have a steering wheel and wait for a robot to climb in and drive. You won't be maintaining hand/foot controls on the truck, or wasting time, or wearing out the robot and wasting the energy. The best part is no part!
"It's made human-like so it can work in environments made for humans" Think about that! That is the antithesis of "First Principles"! (unless your goal is to copy a human which is much easier to do with sex) It compounds costs/complexity and reduces efficiency. I'm an automation engineer, I wish they would put AI on all the existing dumb robots. You could test and prove learning concepts/systems on existing equipment. There are all kinds of robots, controllers, vision systems etc. that could use a brain NOW.
Besides the unproven AI, look at the fingers on Optimus! Could it even pick up a needle to thread it, Start a roll of tape, put a lid on a cup, make change out of a register? How long would it take to peel a label off the backing? tie a shoe, pick up a pen and write? A person, without looking, can pick up just one small screw out of a pile and orient it in his hand. A person can reach into their pocket and count change without looking. Please tell me the "easy" jobs a humanoid will be able to do! There are no "easy" jobs that aren't already automated.
Enthusiasts will say "It's not like FSD because you don't have to be 100% accurate". Then it will fail in its job. If it drops a box of screws, breaks something expensive, falls and breaks itself, stops production etc. it's costs could be more than the savings.
Enthusiasts will say "It doesn't need to be fast because it can work long hours". Then it will fail in its job. Factories are built for people to operate, so it will have to operate like a person. Asset utilization is important. Otherwise you'll have to create dumb jobs for it like overnight stock-boy. Call me when they demonstrate a stock-boy, if I'm not dead.
Enthusiasts will say "we'll need them on mars" On mars you will want an AI crane/robot that can manipulate and join large habitat panels and move machinery. And you would want a smaller AI robot with tools instead of hands so it can manipulate/repair cables/connectors quickly without having to pick up hand tools. And it should have extending legs rather than get on a ladder since most cables will probably be overhead. It would be ridiculous to have a humanoid operate cranes and use wire cutters. You may only need one humanoid to set up a base because humans didn't evolve to use technology.
The fud about the car was easy to ignore because the car was on the road. But the uncertainty and doubt about a humanoid bot that has no brain yet is very real.
Optimus can't even do what the darpa challenge bots did 8 years ago.

I would like to see them in schools as teacher's aides and election services. Duplicate, or illegitimate ballots OUT at the beginning.
I would go with an EV, as I see the need and it's present abilities valuable in my life (76 yr old) now... Optimus I believe won't be mature enough for me until 2030+ as it collides with the humanoid androids being developed in China and Japan for CLOSE interactions with humans. Optimus does not have the Friendly Feminine Fit appeal that people will be looking for in it's present shape.
I hope they are eventually made available for the blind community. The only problem is the majority of the blind community is on fixed incomes. These will probably never be attainable to those who need it most. Sad

Do you really believe that Tesla bot can do everything similar to humans! It has a lot of limitations even if the AI is a lot smarter, in other areas with less finance it would be better to rent or not buy! Let's accept if we don't have enough money !

At 65k price tag maybe cheaper as cost come down, plus maintenance fees every once and while for upkeep. it’s close to the median/average salary in America. Plus it would be able to work longer hours, less breaks, no holidays, no sick days and no turnovers.
Compare all that value to a human needing 65k yearly. Im just thinking deep into the future.

Не будет этого. Tesla сперва заменит людей на роботов на своих фабриках, потом на фабриках своих поставщиков вниз по цепочке поставок, притом всех, включая тех которые нужны для производства фабрик этих поставщиков, а потом заменит аналогичным способом всех людей в той части экономики, которая обслуживает людей уволенных с этих фабрик, и начнёт платить им доход, достаточный для того чтобы покупать у этой робоэкономики товары и услуги, такие же как и те которые они могли покупать работая прежде. Только из-за того что цена на товары и услуги будет на два порядка меньше, это будет гораздо легче для этой экономики, при том что фиксированная часть экономики которая оплачивается, может финансироваться из заёмного капитала, как впрочем заёмный капитал может использоваться для того чтобы попытаться увеличить скорость развития второй части этой экономики, та которая может расти независимо от людей, которая и будет являться основой роста благосостояния Tesla
