A big reason of why I love comics is the artwork, and I'm a sucker for oversized formats/absolute editions. These look great! Thanks for bringing awareness to these books.
I love Fear Agent! But like Shishir said, those LEs were published by Dark Horse and I sold mine :( Here’s to hoping we get new oversized image editions!
You are right about the artwork for The Sword by the Luna Brothers. The artwork has been refined with Photoshop. That explains why you have that distinct feeling that the artwork is computer generated. That's the problem with the new school artists, they rely on Photoshop primarily to give their art a polished look. Great review on all of the omnibuses. I'm impressed.
Everything Remender does gets an OHC through Giant Generator so don’t worry about Seven to Eternity, Death or Glory, and Low vol 2; they’re coming! Already pre-ordered Black Science HC vol 3 (May release).
I love Low and Tokyo Ghosts and after seeing TG HC at my library I had to get my own. Low is hard to figure out the world. I think because the pallet is warm it's hard to picture them as domed cities underwater. It took me a few rereads to get it all, but it's solid. I have a different cover on my Low HC than you do... Would like to see an absolute White Knight for Murphy's work. Some of the first Image HC's that I have are Leave It to Chance with Robinson and Paul Smith. I was surprised they released a European style book for it. They aren't as thick as the ones you showed and they really just have the comic stories with little or no extras, but great for all ages.
Jeffrey Moy I second your absolute White Knight idea, I’m hoping they were just waiting for him to wrap up the sequel. Haven’t read Leave it to Chance, but I’ll definitely check it out!
Which 2 books would you recommend I get? I already have both Deadly Class books and my library has Chew so I avoid buying what I have access to read first. I want Image books for my next haul but have no clue what to get.
Joey Black Science and Low are both fantastic and with slightly different themes, so they won’t feel to repetitive. Out of those, I would say get both volumes of Black Science, it’s fantastic!!
When it comes to Image stuff, as I understand it, the creator(s) usually decide the trim size on the hardcover printings, assuming it will sell well enough. Hence all of Remender’s books getting the 8x12s.
Extra Oversized is actually a pretty good general name for these... could become a standard reference, like Regular HC / Oversized HC (for omnibus, deluxes etc.) / Extra Oversized HC (for Absolutes, Dark Horse Library and these Image books). And now we also have Marvel's Library Editions / Treasure Editions, which are even bigger than Extra Oversized, and the "monster" editions, like Kirby is Fantastic/Mighty etc., Jim Lee XXL, etc. Seems like the sky is --literally!-- the limit.
Words can't describe how much I want that Luther strode OHC in the cabinet behind you. I want it to be reprinted so I can buy it. at the moment I would pay twice the cover price for a (very) used copy.
Nipples and Peepees, everything I look for in a great series! I really want all those Rick Remender series oversized, but unfortunately already have them all in trades (Except the Last Days of American Crime). Going to get The Goddamned though and look into Beowulf and Chew. Great video! Thanks for this, been looking to add a few oversized image books for awhile now.
Thanks for the suggestions!!! Now I'm going to have to spend more money 😏 Also a huge Invincible fan and I own every format the comic was printed except the tpb. Love the 12 volume hardcover editions, own every issue of the comic, have both the hardcover omnibus and softcover, but my favorite is the oversized library editions that they only made 3 volumes of and then quit......I hate when they do that, nobody likes quitters and owning half a story in a awesome oversized library edition that will never be completed is a kick in the pants to us fans 😡😭
@@TheHardcoverComic it would be great if they finished them, would make a collector like me very happy. Either way I'm happy with them, I think I only payed $30 per volume which was a great deal considering they are $125 new. 🤷♂️
Man so much good stuff there! Remender is so great. Tried to get into Deadly Class though and it just didn't do it for me... Only read the first few issues, maybe I just need to keep going and it'll click. Heard great things about Tokyo Ghost and really need to read that one! The Deluxe is OOP unfortunately.
Do you think there is something wrong or invalid with a simple TDP? It's the same story and artwork (bit smaller thought) for a price that's a lot more commonly afordable.
P C Not at all! Buying books like this is something I only do if I absolutely love the series. I bought most of these when I was single with little responsibility - these kinds of books are a treat now!
Do you know why the chew smorgasbord volume one is so rare and expensive? I can get vol 2,3 for about ninety bucks each but that number one is over 300 bucks I just picked up the omnivores in place of volume one
William Ramskill The new version is labeled the “remastered” version, but aside from the difference in binding, I don’t know if there’s another distinguishing feature
Hey man, great video. I am also a fellow Canadian. I wanted to know if you could recommend a few online stores that us Canadians can order these graphic novels from. Ie in the US they have instocktrades & cheapgraphicnovel.com that offer 50% off the cover price. But the shipping & import fees kills it for us Canadians. Thoughts?
raj shipping and import fees definitely ruin the viability of IST. I’ve looked around in Canada and the choices are minimal - amazon, indigo, and local comic shops are really the only options worth looking at. It’s unfortunate, but definitely not a bad business idea to start in Canada.
The Hardcover Comic are you kidding me?! Are you the Same mike who sold me the Fear Agent Hardcovers with the Locke & Key master set, ex machina and the sleeper omnibus for the best price imaginable?
A big reason of why I love comics is the artwork, and I'm a sucker for oversized formats/absolute editions. These look great! Thanks for bringing awareness to these books.
Check out "Orbital"it's a European comic, the artwork in it will blow you away. But I don't know if it is available in the US.
Image is 100x better than Marvel/DC/others
I wish image would rerelease or repackage those big fear agent books that dark horse published
Nice, going to give Tokyo Ghost a try - love Shaun Murphy astwork
Really enjoying your videos. Fear Agent is a glaring omission for me. Another big beautiful Remender collected edition.
Fear Agent is Dark Horse

Thanks for the video, I love Remender's books. Recently I really loved Low.

Phil Ahlschlager Good to know! Can’t wait to pick them all up 😆
Fanatic video. Ordered a couple of the titles after watching, already owned several as well.
Rick Remender also has "Crawl Space" in this oversized edition.
James Harren also does two issues in Seven to Eternity.
Jake Good point! I apologize for not mentioning him!

I wish these books weren't so darn expensive. I'm trying to find them now, particularly Tokyo Ghost but i hate to pay 3 or 4 times retail price.

WOW SOME GREAT COVERS

Jordan TRusso I had no idea it was a hot item now!
Can you please do a video for the Dark Horse oversized hardcovers? Is there many?
david graham There are quite a few! I can definitely make a video on those
And the manga deluxes like berserk and hellsing
That is so much money dude
the red diary by teddy kristiansen
prince of cats by ronald wimberly
viking the long cold fire by ivan brandon
these 3 are also all extra oversized
I was lucky to find a copy of Girls on FB for $80 CAD. I wish they did Alex + Ada in the extra oversized as well.
John Huynh Damn, nice find!!!
Where do you buy your collections?

Where do I even find some of these? I think they're out of print.

Mark Ash The only reason I didn’t pick up those library editions was because they stopped at 3. I wish they had finished those up! Maybe someday...

Man, I have deadly class and chew and really need to read them. Also LOW is incredible! Fingers crossed we get a vol 2...
I've been hunting for The Girls Deluxe edition for awhile now. Loved that series.
Never heard of these before !
Anyone knows if Black science volume 2 reprint coming out or its canceled? Was scheduled for April....

Jeremy Berglund Remender found his place when he switched over to Image. Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in the coming years!
Is The Last Days of American Crime HC OOP now? I can’t seem to find it anywhere on eBay
Is there going to be a Low vol 1 hardcover re print?

Great vid. how can you tell if a copy of Black Science Volume 1 is a 1st print or 2nd print?
William Ramskill The new version is labeled the “remastered” version, but aside from the difference in binding, I don’t know if there’s another distinguishing feature
@@TheHardcoverComic Ok, thanks. Same page count do u know?
The remastered Black Science vol 1 hardcover has pink font instead of green.
@@Justegarde Thanks pal
Mike, if you can try to get David Rubín black & white-only earlier work (published in spanish only...) - it's wonderfull...
rewanji Thank you for the recommendation! I will have to try and track those down, his art is wonderful
Oh my god, I love Chew!
I wish the would reprint!
Heavy flo can you find her on RUclips?
I Think the smorgasbord editions are Absolute format. ;)

Dude do you live in Mississauga Ontario by any chance?
Image1Nation I do!
The Hardcover Comic are you kidding me?! Are you the Same mike who sold me the Fear Agent Hardcovers with the Locke & Key master set, ex machina and the sleeper omnibus for the best price imaginable?
Image1Nation That does sound like me! Small world!!
chew smorgasbord is impossible to find. ugh
Joseph Olsen Sorry to hear that man!
The Hardcover Comic it's okay. I'm a sucker for the format! want to pick up harrow county, hellboy, and a few more before I get to chew anyway
Could you please invest in better microphone
Love your video but your voice volume is very low
1st, more to come....
