      Interesting tidbit about the whole project, BRUCE DICKINSON was supposed to be the singer for the whole album here. Music was written, and I believe most of the vocals DONE. Arjen made the mistake of mentioning that Bruce was working on the project with him during press and promotion for Senjutsu (Maiden's newest album) and Bruce's manager came out and siad it was unprofessional of him and that Bruce was pulling out of the project because of it. That's why the singers are over the place in terms of guests.

      @@johnbon6 Not sure if Bruce was suppose to sing on this album, but Star one originally was a project between Arjen and Bruce (after he song on the Universal migrator in 2000) in 2002. Which got cancelled after Arjen spread word of it on the internet. Arjen already having most of the songs ready, decided to go ahead and - make a album anyway. And thus Star One - Space metal (2002) was made. On this 3rd album there are more 'guest' singers than the steady group (Floor, Russel, Damian and Dan) due to not being able to record with Arjen personally (COVID) and not having much dialogue singing on the songs. And because his guid vocalist did such a amazing job he made them into a double album, and asked some more friends to sing...
      1st album (2002) had the good songs, but lacked production, 2nd album had great production, but lacked the catchy song, so this has both.... (or so Arjen always tells in interviews)

    The songs on all of the Star One albums are based on movies. The first album was all sci-fi (Dune, Star Trek IV, 2001, etc...), the 2nd was dystopian future (Clockwork Orange, Planet of the Apes, Escape from New York, etc...), and this one is all based on Time/Time Travel.

    Prog metal is the genre usually Arjen's projects end up placed in especailly the Ayreon albums.
    The Star One albums reference sci-fi movies and series. For instance _The Eye of Ra_ based on _Stargate_ (the Kurt Russel movie) is excellent.

      In fact, it applies to both. At first the lyrice mention 'a plan of the net' to send a warrior back: Which is the terminator. Later the lyrics the same lines are repeated, but this time it's (also) about Kyle.

    Musically you never know exactly what you'll get from Arjen, but it's always interesting and excellent. I could be wrong but I heard a slightly softer tone to her vocals than I generally have heard, without losing any of the power or excellence. It's maybe more subtle, a bit of European symphonic metal? I don't know maybe just a difference in phrasing. As for the instruments and the writing? The guy composes metal symphonies. Great reaction!

    From what I've heard (not sure if this is true), but originally, Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden was supposed to be on this album -- which is why Brittney Slayes is on this album, because he wanted that metal style on this album. And, if that wasn't enough, this Star One album is over 10 years in the making.
    I think Arjen knocked it out of the park, and everyone on this album was on the winning team, lol.

      Star One was originally supposed to be a collaboration with Arjen and Bruce, but when Arjen talked about it a little prematurely Bruce's manager pulled him from the project. The first Star One album came out in 2002, the 2nd in 2010.

    Awesome song. I do wish Brittany's vocals was a bit louser in the mix but she did a great job. BTW "No-one believed him" refers to The other guy that came back doesn't it? He wanted to change the past, the Governator wanted to secure the future.. that's how I understand it.

    • @isaiahwelch8066
      @isaiahwelch8066 2 года назад

      No. The line "no one would believe him" refers to a character, Kyle Reese, who had come back in time to Los Angeles, California, in the original movie. Because of the machine that was used, only living tissue could come back. Because the T-800 was a cybernetic organism -- "living tissue over a metal endoskeleton" -- it came back in time to kill off John Connor, humanity's savior in the future.
      The lyric refers to Kyle Reese being interrogated by the LAPD, and they don't believe Reese as he is talking about the Terminator: "He will find her! That's all he does! That's what he does! And he absolutely will not stop!" As he is saying these lines in the movie, they basically think he's insane, a "paranoid madman," and think he's psychotic. The entire time, the T-800 is locating them to hunt Reese and Sarah Connor down.
      But you have it backwards, as Kyle Reese is trying to keep humanity's one hope to defeat SkyNet -- the "network" in the lyrics -- from killing and enslaving mankind. That's what the movie was about: The T-800 was there to secure the future for SkyNet, Reese was there to prevent that from happening and keeping humanity in the fight by preventing major changes in the timeline. The problem became that Kyle Reese, by going back in time, fathered John Connor -- who he ends up fighting for in the future.
