D. Todd Christofferson - Moral discipline is the consistent exercise of agency to choose the right because it is right, even when it is hard. www.lds.org/ge...
Beginning at about 4:04, Elder Christofferson speaks on laws and regulations as the last desperate defense for a civilized society. The first principles, he mentions, being customs, traditions, and values. There is a Book of Mormon verse that also illustrates this social decline among the Nephites: “They who chose evil were more numerous than they who chose good, therefore they were ripening for destruction… Yea, and this was not all; they were a stiffnecked people, insomuch that they could not be governed by the law nor justice, save it were to their destruction” (Helaman 5:2-3). I’m not suggesting that our modern society is at this point (I do not know), but surely the Nephites inability to be governed by law or justice, save to their destruction, is an ancient example of what Elder Christofferson described.
Imagine the wonderful world we would live in if all followed these teachings. Imagine how happy we would be!
Won't be long now and it will be 😀
Listening in 2020! When the black lives matter, protest, coronavirus! This talk is so applicable
I listen to this talk frequently as I think it a marvelous guide and counsel for personal behavior.
Succinct and needful counsel. Thank you.
Jesus Christ is worthy of our praise. How thankful we need be for the restoration!
Thank you. Needed that.
Such a beautiful message
Much needed, thank you
This felt good to listen to.
