Hi- I have an old horse tiller that is not quite this old, I still use it. I am sorry Troy Bilt went under. My brother and I drove up to the factory to pick it up, as I live in central NY and it is not that far from Troy. Those old ones are great machines, much better built than the newer ones. They used to put out the Troy Bilt Owners News that always had hints for better gardening. Nice to see you get this one going!

@tinashields9599 I love the old equipment. Usually old equipment is built a lot tougher than the new stuff. I hope your tiller continues to run well!

I have the same 7 HP model, purchased from the late 70's without the front cage protection. Shipment from Troy Bilt was kinda expensive from New York to California. Anyways was a huge mistake loaning to neighbors. They ran the motor into the ground, broke the pull rope, busted the carb into a fence post then threw it in the trash. I had the lifetime warranty for a complete rebuild for 1/3 of the going price. Warranty was denied since Troy Bilt went into bankruptcy purchased by MTD Consumer Group Inc. Troy Bilt good company always had support, MTD not so much. In any case it sat in the yard for 25 years was going to the dump site until I saw your video. Itching to have it running again, have the very detailed owners/parts manual somewhere. No idea if I can get parts but couldn't get it from MTD.

Wow, I certainly wouldn’t lend anything to that neighbor again. I hope you get it running, it’s a great machine and they are not to complex. If it helps, I did post a link to the owners manual in the descriptions. Good luck!

Thanks for the manual upload! I hear others swap the commercial 7 HP motor with the cheap Harbor Freight 6 HP motor without a problem. Going to tear into the transmission, its full of water and gray sludge.

@@kimchee94112 I got lucky and mine was under the barn so no water damage. I would put a little oil down the spark plug hole, let it sit for a while and see if you can manually turn the engine over. Your rings and cylinder might be okay. Depends on how long water has been inside it I suppose.

@@kimchee94112 Try and keep the Kohler K161 if you can. It's far superior to these no name Chinese engines.

It’s a great feeling to have something fire up after sitting for years. We plan on using this rototiller yearly to get our gardens ready otherwise it certainly could be sold for profit.

The Kohler carb is so much easier to remove from a troyBilt tiller than a tecumseh carb is

@thetubeschannel thanks! I appreciate it! Painting it has popped into my head but I probably won’t ever get around to actually doing it. I keep it indoors so hopefully the rust continues to be at bay.

I think that I am also going to upload vehicle fixing videos to my channel as they are really fun to watch and helpful. I do a lot of fixing on my 88 f 250 and my craftsman ys4500 so that might be interesting

They can be helpful that’s for sure. Filming them does make the process of actually fixing things take longer though.
