I always "defended" her when people tried to discredit her talent and what she had to offer. Just because she wasn't the "powerhouse" performer like her brother Michael and sister Janet, didn't mean she should have been counted "out" and underrated like she was.

She’s an underrated Jackson. Clearly she has talent. But never got much success like Michael and Janet.
Her scandals got in the way most definitely. I remember the reports back then that her ex husband/manager nearly beat her to death and telling that her own father sexually abused her. She was a tabloid magnet.

Her career was pretty much ruined by her abusive manager, who also forced her to marry him so he could take her money. It’s actually a pretty sad story. His exploitation of her combined with the fact that she didn’t have the promotional backing of a major record label or an army of big-name producers/choreographers/directors/songwriters all made it hard for her to get a big break in the music industry. She has had a few Top 40 hits though, like “Just Wanna Dance”.

I've ALWAYS loved Latoya! As a member of the "indomitable" Jackson clan she was so delightful; the middle child and right between Janet and Rebbie.
For a minute, I thought I heard some Diana Ross tone in her voice. That's how I knew it had to be someone with a matured singing voice or atleast with years of singing/music experience. And when Nicole went for Latoya during the performances, I knew she was on to something. It's cool how Nicole actually has this kind of knowledge.

I just think he’s not taking somethings into account when he was assessing her voice.
1. If you ever adorned a mascot costume, you’d know it’s hard to breathe and see much less sing and project your voice, especially for a soft gentle voice like the Jacksons.
2. He assumes she’s young. To be fair, her body looks amazing! But she was 63 at the time, so her vocals won’t be up to par like it was in her prime.
3. She’s dancing, and singing in a hot tight costume while also having to be aware where she is stepping.
They sing live, but the audio is edited for the broadcast. If she didn't hit that note, it was probably cleaned in post.
Her little shuffle and pose from 3:36 to 3:47 just charms me so damn much ❤

This such a fun show! they showcases that some artist that they underestimate their etertaining talent, people say they lip sync, some of them can sing just decent they anit perfect but they are good, at the last song I di has a LaToya Jackson vibe in her voice tone.
