Great New Player Guide would´ve loved this guide when i started. Very competent getting the basic but very important informations inside a 14min video, without feeling to heavy and without useless unfunny chat.👏
I just found your channel searching for good content about Elite Odyssey as a returning player from Horizon, i hope to find more if i check your channel. For this one you really earned that sub and like!

Great video. I've over 3000 hrs in this game. Whilst its never been a main as it's a completely different genre to my normal PvP games it's been a go to that I fell in love with. Mind I fell out of love for a good few months after oddssey release but like many ive recently came back spending all this weekend on it. My son's returning too , hes having a break from sweating on valorant and apex so I'm here scanning guides for him. He's a pauper in credits 🤣😂 You've earned a subscription , great video. 👍

Great vid man! stuff like this is always helpful for newbie players. I'm not really new to the game but I always like watching these kinds of videos 'cos you never know when you'll learn something new.
Don't know if anyone will find this helpful but for those using controllers like myself, you can actually create custom key combinations for almost any action in the game as well as being able to assign any button to a custom context menu where you can assign even more actions for quick use, just make sure the "enable context menu" option is active or they wont work.
The combinations of buttons you can use together are almost unlimited as well, a tiny example I can think of is that I have the left and right triggers set to the throttle but I find that sometimes I need to deaccelerate faster than the triggers will allow for quick manoeuvres, so I have the "set throttle to 0%" command bound to Left Trigger + Right Trigger so when I press both triggers at the same time I instantly throttle to zero, the ship doesn't stop instantly of course but the throttle does.
Also the last time I did conflict zones I noticed that if you just fly your own ship to a combat zone upon arriving at the base you'll receive a message in your coms feed asking you if you'd like to pick a side and start the fight also the combat zone can be reactivated and farmed again by simply leaving the base on your ship, going into super cruise and then dropping out of super cruise instantly and turning back, I don't know if the game still does this but it also refilled all the missiles I had spent annihilating ground troops the moment I left the fight into super cruise removing the need to return to base and rearm. Dumb fire missiles are recommended for taking out ground troops while in your ship.
I don't know if the game still lets you start the conflict zones this way or if the ammo thing still works but 2 big things have changed since then, 1; the bases now have anti air defences that will punish even the toughest of ships for hanging around too long and 2; the enemies will call in dog fighters to deal with anyone who does want to bring their ship into combat.
Once more, if you do want to bring your own ship into a conflict zone you can shutoff the enemies air defences if you have the maverick suit to cut open their panels and then overload their circuits with the suit charger, keep in mind though that your ship will fly away and leave if you disembark on foot, to stop this from happening simply leave the ship on your SRV, drive into the conflict zone, do your bizz with turrets, then drive back into the ship with your SRV, or just annihilate the enemy with your SRV, your choice! ;) just watch out for dudes with rocket launchers, they might mess you up, also your SRV dies pretty quick but its guns are very accurate so ranged combat is the best option, or just run the enemy over the moment they land on the ground, what ever works.

@@johnplaysgames1477 I hope my advice is still relevant, I haven't done the combat zones since they've been updated so I'm not entirely sure if you can still start the fights up just by arriving to them in your ship and I'm not sure if the game still rearms your ship's weapons immediately after leaving the zone.

What ships are intermediate? 1.9 million credits won't get you too much. Any new player I meet, I have them team up with me and in the first hour, they have 100 million credits. Massacre missions are way easier and less lag then ground conflict zones (unless your pc is a beast).

I just bought the game and as I just saw I've been playing wrong.. it would seem I need to start off in the base game as a new ship commander in order to play in the newbie zone and grind the cash before branching out. I thank you for the in depth video my guy and please please make more guides for us noobs..

If only you actually did still start odyssey in the starter systems... came back after years of not playing, decided to clear save to start fresh, did the little tutorials that came with odyssey and got put in HIP 97950 lol. In order to actually start in the PF systems, need to start in horizon, do your business and then move on and start odyssey.

I tried Elite Dangerous and after an hour and a half I gave up. The learning curve is so insanely high it's not even fun. I uninstalled and refunded. Been playing Star Citizen and as detailed as it is it's about half the learning curve as Elite Dangerous. No idea why they made Elite so freaking hard to play but I tapped out. Good luck.

Razer Trinity is a good mouse. The removeable side-pieces mean that it can be adapted for different games. You can assign macros to any of the buttons, which can be very useful indeed, especially if you don't have enough buttons on your joystick. They're realtively expensive new, but you can get used ones on Ebay for half the price.
There was a lot of good info in your vid. It's all what a beginner needs to know,; however, without a frame of reference, I think it's all going to just bounce off their heads. Maybe, you'd be better off walking them through each task and showing what they need to know and do to achieve it, like how to adjust pips for landing, how to plot a route using the galaxy map, how to find your target from the contacts panel, etc, but only in the context of the specific task or activity.
Also I have to disagree with you about the ships for beginners combat. I'd recommend the progression from Sidewinder to Diamondback Scout to Vulture to Fer de Lance or Chieftain. The Viper is not good for beginners because the hardpoint placement often prevents half the weapons from being able to fire. The DBS has the same fire-power, cost and other stats, but you can always fire all the guns at once, which does a lot more damage than the Viper. I can't see any advantage of the Imperial Eagle over a Sidewinder for beginners, and by the time you bought one, outfitted it, and tried it out, you could have earned enough with the Sidewinder to get a Vulture, which is infinitely better for beginners ship combat.
For mining, IMHO, the best route is Sidewinder to T6, to t7, to Python to Anaconda. The T6 is cheaper, faster, carries more cargo and can jump further than the Keelback.. That's for laser mining platinum, which is the fastest way to get credits, rank and materials from mining.
If you want some ideas for your next videos, what about how to get out of sticky situations - like how to deal with a hostile interdiction, what to do if you shoot the wrong ship, what to do if you upset the guards on a base. Pips, panels and other stuff would get a lot more meaning in those contexts. Think about all the things you might have found difficult in the beginning, like how to land in a station, how to find the slot, how to drop out in front of the slot, how to scoop fuel. A couple of compilations of short tasks like that might be good help for beginners, or maybe comat tactics on foot like how to hide, best places to shoot from, how to use weapons, etc. Nobody ever does that. All you see is guys running round shooting everyone in sight with their advanced suits and weapons with very little explanation other than drop out of the Vulture, shoot everyone you can, go back to the base and cash in.

thank you for the comment and im glad you liked the video. i really like your suggestions and will try to make a video on them. yeah i was going to say get an imperial currier because i love that ship and its great for combat. but you need to unlock it using faction rank. im thinking about making a video on that as well. also have never used the scout only the explorer. my ships went from the sidewinder to eagle to imperial eagle to currier.
im glad you like the video and it has given me a lot to think about. I am always trying to improve and your comments help me a lot.
