This is one of the most amazing pieces of music I've heard - ever (and I've heard a few...) It just creates a space, especially in the repetition in the second half, that's like no other. My wife died suddenly just over a year ago and when I listen to this it fills me with both joy and sadness... and peace. Thank you.
Very sad to hear today that ill health means Keith Jarrett will never play again. I was introduced to his incredible playing thirty-five years ago and have been a fan ever since. He has suffered a series of stokes in the past two years and playing is now impossible for him. His legacy however is enormous. He remains one of the greatest improvisors of his generation and a towering figure in music.
Alun ,maybe you can help me; I got the Köln concert on casette tape early eighties from a friend, and I remember it had adiitional songs that I cannot find back...I think he wrote Vivaldi on the list..and it sounded just as The concert and Keith Jarret playing...very fast and loud banging versions...any idea as to what that was? is it on the original album(double album)?
incredible control and touch presented in the backhalf. REAL hard to play that evenly for that long with just those minor flourishes. This is one of my favorite Jarrett recordings.
Jonathan , could you help me to find the original/live Koln Concert ? I tried all kinds of searches and none returns it . I did subscribe to youtube music special members . Thanks , Cathy
Keith is a direct channel... he really hits the zone in this one... thank you so much for posting and great sound quality for bootleg(?) recording of this era. 🖖
Treasure island is my all time favorite piece by KJ
Keith music magic with his improvisations!

How sad to hear. Thank you for relaying the news. His music and spirit have accompanied me ever since the 1970s... a very big piece of my life.

He repeats the same thing for 7 minutes in a way you enjoy to listen. He makes magic.
Чем дольше в объятиях Музыкальной богини музыканты, покоренные Её красотой,тем ниже склоненные их головы к клавиатуре.

Some people have perfect pitch. Some have perfect time. He's got both-but the time is more important!

Das Cover ist vom Köln Konzert und das sieht aus wie ein Pyjama.

Nice bluesy feel right there...
Quel beau musicien!...Dommage qu'il fasse autant de facéties ,parfois, sur scène...

That coughing person in the background was so annoying. Have some decency and exit the room.
