If someone doesn’t think that’s impressive that motor winding out high rpms for that amount of time under load
Espicially considering its a 534 big block
@@redneck400m3 they got that engine out of a boat. It was really hard to come across aluminum big block and after they blew the motor several times they would have to send it to a welding shop to put it back together they did a show I'm putting the original engine back into the number one truck and you can see all the damage that was done throughout the years it's all blueprinted and documented it's amazing you got to check out that video If you haven't seen it already look up number one Bigfoot original engine rebuild it's a four-part episode

Bob Chandler is the father of Monster Truck. He invented the Monster Truck.Still today no one can duplicate his legend! The first time I seen him was in the early 1980`s at the Louisiana Superdome!
Growing up in England (U.K) in the 80's! Bigfoot was my Hero! I almost tear up watching these old clips! Still the best!
What’s so amazing is that most of these trucks not only still extort but still run and drive and they take them to shows. They pass through my town whenever they’re headed any place north of St. Louis. Their driver stops at this tiny ancient gas station in my town to get snacks and stuff for the road and I’ve talked to him several times recently. Those guys on that crew are all the best of the best.
Those aluminum wheels may not have been very durable in car crushing, but damn they sure did look great on Bigfoot #1!
We have always love Big foot, The first Monster truck ever built from midwest, and the sound of the 460 cid, good job Chandler. 😎
Bigfoot 1 started with a 460 but was soon changed to a massive 640 with giant hemi style heads.
I'm not a big Ford fan, but the original Bigfoot trucks are the best looking monster trucks ever made...
Can only imagine what it took to clean those trucks after these mud runs!
I'd rather not. ZOINKS !!! You probably needed pressure washers and long, large hoses.
Now that's what I call Big Foot slinging mud. Always have been a fan of Big Foot
Bigfoot will always be a household name.
The true origin, belongs to the original 74 BIGFOOT long live the king
That sounds of those engines would make even Godzilla blush I bet haha
I'll tell you what, someone knows how to build an engine!! Holy shit glowing headers
Look at the headers glowing red hot at 6:20!!! Damn, how sweet!
I can remember I was at a Indiana 4x4 jamboree in 84-85 and Bob ran the bog with Foot. As the truck came to a stop about mid way through the pit he just kept it hammered and as water and steam poured out of the front of Foot, Ron Bachmann stood there on the side line pointing at the engine , he kept pointing and pointing and Bob would look over at him and was like, I’m gonna run it til it blows Ron! It never did blow, but that has been stuck in my mind my whole life, I’ll never forget it. Ron was a good man. RIP Ron.
Well, that is how BIGFOOT got its name, due to Bob's "Big Foot" on the gas. LOL.
Ow it all was started one truck built by man with a vision. Now look at what trucks can do it's awesomec
I know the monster trucks today are 100 times faster and can jump higher and do back flips, but they took a lot of the meaning of monster truck out, like mud bogging and real car crushing. Now they have dirt ramps on both sides of the cars. So it makes it so much easier to go across. I can remember when some of the trucks had a hard time climbing a mountain of cars and only the drivers that had no fear and plenty of power hit the cars hard and smashed them. Big Foot started it all and is still the King.

And were made of metal, not today' boring fiberglass
Wish some entrepreneurs could offer us old fashioned monster truck events such as mud bogging, hill climbing and tractor pull, just as state-o'-the art rumbling as it was before Feld Motorsport's took over the industry. Looking forward for that to happen soon, mate! Cheers!
The 78/79 Bigfoot is iconic, its my favorite
I have a book from the early 90's with the late 80's body Bigfoot 5 running in that same mud pit. It was called The Ultimate Book of Monster Trucks. Thanks for uploading this footage!

Big Foot was a childhood icon! And i'm from the UK
I'm from the UK too, I love the original Bigfoot.
I'm in the U.K too! Same for me as an 80's kid!
Damn right it’s a childhood and still is an icon for me and usually 13 year olds get tired of that
But I’m From Oklahoma I live in Tulsa
i'm from Azerbaijan. Bigfoot was my favourite too
Belfast, N.Ireland (UK) here!
Bob Chandler had his Fords dialed in. Not so much big foot 5 but the earlier trucks ripped! He was making so power back in the day! Still impressive to see those truck jump off the line

The greatest name in monster trucks! The icon, the legend!!
Man those giant firestones are just novelty on Bigfoot 5. It's impressive to see the truck, but it can't really do much with wheels like that.
Maybe, but what it does, it does quite well. IMHO.
Imagine tho how hot the engine of Bigfoot 5 was when Bob forced it to it's limits 💀
Man that's has to be hell on an engine spinning those 10 foot tires wide open no matter what the gearing is
Just a 460

Jeez shut up these couldn't do jumps without breaking the frame or having a wheel Axel snap new monster trucks are still beautiful and they are made to take serious damage so rethink what you just said....1500 HP bigblocks..trust me they are still trucks your pettiness.
They were cool to look at, but much like the that 10 foot tire Big Foot, they had to put 3 and 3 together. Bigger is not always better. Real equals real heavy. The smaller one tore through that mud like a child through a mud puddle where as 10 foot struggled aaaaall the way through and then could not crawl out. The worse they made the course, the lighter and more powerful the trucks had to become. Only a cartoon can make it through the nightmare bogs of today... And even some of them get stuck. Plus over all it has to be cheaper to use a tissue top when it comes to flipping them....
thats cute..
The American Dream On Wheels
I remember seeing the very first Bigfoot on take this job & shove it! I was like 8 & it was the coolest thing ever! Dennis Chandler the man a truck made famous!
who is Dennis lol?
Bob chandler u mean ?
You can't drag a truck these days like that, it'll snap a axle and bend the frame 😂
I like Bigfoot trucks now.
King in the mud Dyno engine power torque and strength Great knowledge Awesome 🤗
super
The original and start. Go BIG FOOT
Movie/"Take This Job & Shove It" was the first time I ever seen a Big Foot and made me a fan.
Listen to that Ford 460 motor humming
Two-story tires, and get stuck in two inchs of mud. Love the truck though
The good ole 80's when everything felt so alive
Looks like some good north Carolina mud their
Big foot is known for it’s big ass wheels
I'm going to get a truck like that when I get older
LUV HOW BIGFOOT 1 JUST STANDS THERE AT 7:12 COVERED IN MUD' LIKE THE KING OF THE BOG
My right ear enjoyed it.
Forgetting about lefty haha.
Lmao Right?!
I remember seeing big foot 5 back in the day. Good stuff.
The last one, he was headed up hill so that would make quite a difference concidering the difference in tire tread and weight etc.etc.
This truck just looks so much better than the ones now days, the trucks they run now days has 1400 horsepower ......I’m not sure how much these earlier trucks had
Bigfoot 1 with its 640 could do 1400hp
Fords best year of trucks. #7 Bigfoot was the best one.
Brody I don’t know... 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 looked pretty much identical but my personal favorite was 4 because it could keep up with the new tube chassis trucks even though it was designed with old technology. And Bigfoot 7’s story doesn’t really have a happy ending....
Ford Fan01 How so? Wasn't 7 used in Roadhouse?
Long live the KING!!!
I can only imagine how overworked Bigfoot 5’s motor must be.
Wow a real truck, not some plastic fiberglass shell

i love the 80s 90s i love how ot looked back than like everything. was peaceful the old hairstyles shoes clothes mannnn i love how most older people there houses still look like the 80s 90s on the inside no new furniture all antique.
Seems that the 66's work better in the mud than the 10 ft. tires. Probably due to the v tread pattern
I've done engine performance work on that back in the 80s. Grunt!
Which bigfoots did your work go into
Verry good monsters cars
Amasin video the real good old monster trucks. I guess in that time the did not know to lower the air pressure in the tires or running on redial the world get thru the mooud better . The trucks to day is all about the show.
#1 had more aggressive tred than #5 with those big wheels. So #1 was better in the mud as a result.
#1 also has the largest most powerful engine of all the Bigfoot's a 640CI Aluminum Ford engine. That's why they always used it for mug bogs and hill climbs.
Nobody made a mud tire that size. You can believe if they did Bob would have them...
It was also much lighter
It would have done much better on tractor tires, but maybe too good.It puts on more of a show with the engine screaming and tons of wheel speed on the floatation tires.
Back in the day when they were actual trucks, now they are just cages with wheels.
the only thing that survived since then are the wheels. :-(
Yes and about an extra 1000 hp

Define an actual truck please sir. The only thing this truck has in common with a regular truck is the body. The frame, the engine, rear end, the front end, the trans, the driveshaft, literally everything is different. How is this any different than today besides the body?
Justin W What he means is the older trucks, despite all of the modifications, were still based on a factory produced chassis you could walk into a showroom and buy. The first few Big Foots were based on the F250.
BTW I’m simply here as a translator. I have no emotional stake one way or the other.
The Bigfoot is a gladiator.

Love that they still used stock steel bodies on these trucks, unlike the cartoon fiberglass stuff today. Also the 80's Bigfoot with the huge tires is still my favorite monster truck. You really don't get a sense of scale until you've walked under one of them, made quite an impression on my 8 year old self in the early 90's.
I think those tires came off of some sort of weird arctic exploration vehicle, they were built exclusively for that purpose. The Bigfoot team saw those tires, bought them, built the truck around them.
Letourneau overland train for alaska
That’s a real truck
Parabéns a todos os bigfoots

It is surprising how poorly those giant tires do in the mud
They are tundra tires
They must be racing tires
Dang. I wish #5 was still out there till this day. I want to to stand inside those wheels.

We had a huge thunderbird that had the 460 in it I could mash the gas and I could see the gas hand fall that big block Ford 460 had the power
Congratulacions
big tires meant for snow in Alaska lol not so good on mud but great for crushing cars hahaha
What are you supposed to use on mud then? Mini van tires?
@@EricSmith-lj7ln Tires with big ass threads like Bigfoot 1.
Bigfoot 5 had tires from a machine meant to cover ground on uneven, basically unwalkable snow and ice like antartica. This is why the truck despite having the biggest wheels in the game couldn't make it out of the mud pit while Bigfoot 1 with smaller wheels but big thread was climbing out like a champ.
Mud was never Bigfoot 5's forte.

It was built for show and nothing else
Those tires were orirginally designed for crossing the tundra. They used em on the old “snow trains”
not really
That truck should air down the tires. Pressure is much to high!

Bigfoot started it all, they were building bigger and badass trucks before it was cool, a inspiration to the world. Now people think having a huge lifted up truck is normal and feel like they are special. Pay respect where respect is due. End rant
