I agree, after watching every possible video he did, coming back to this one really "sealed the deal" with me. In the audience that night were Mr. Quincy Jones, composer Hanz Zimmer, guitarist Steve Vai and rapper Trey Dolla Sign, along with many seasoned LA musicians. This dramatic dynamic display blew them all away...one wonder boy and a magical piano!
this song has been so ethereal to me. i heard it earlier tonight, and i’m instantly hooked. it’s all consuming, it’s perfection. it came on as a radio after listening to a particular good song to sob to, which was what i was doing, and within 2 minutes my tears had dried and i was just so calm. all of jacobs music is a cure to everything wrong with the world and the appreciation i have for him is immense.
This is such a masterpiece. Thank you Jeff Allen for capturing this. I wonder what other phenomenal JC performances only live on in memories. I feel like everything he does needs to be recorded for posterity. But, as JC observes, maybe 'its fading is its greatest treasure'. Hmmm.. I don't think so.
One of my biggest inspirations to date. I love how Collier has so many interpretations of his music. You can really see the genius of jazz shine through him. Thank you for uploading this, I could not get tickets and he was just a city away 💔
This is my favorite song from that night! Just jammin, so good. Gies through a handful of genres and melody approaches kinda like joe pass would explore a song
As great as he is, I really expected a lot more from him on this magnificent song, so I was let down. Part of it is if you're gonna cover or interpret Wonder you really better BRING IT vocally, and I mean for real, and he just doesn't have the chops vocally for this tune. So I'd love to hear Jacob tackle this tune again in another setting....
This is a very conscious performance. It’s not about competing with Stevie wonder it’s about showing the world , what is possible and Jacob is doing it . LISTEN.
@@musicmusic5836 yeah yeah we all got that, he's not competing, but he IS covering a masterpiece and what he does with it is fabulous, my only beef if you will, is not holding up the vocal to the same level of brilliance. Look, the kid is a musical monster, multi instrumentalist, some of the instruments he really plays well, well, ok mainly just piano, but all his theoretic brilliance doesn't change the fact that he's merely a decent singer. That's all
@@pputnam100 you don’t get what he is doing . of course it holds up vocally but it is also so much more than that but you can’t see that because you’re not on the same level spiritually. So maybe don’t critique what you don’t understand and clearly never will understand
I'll sure you very few or close to none are capable to do what he does vocally or as a pianist...his range is out of this world as well of his control and capability to move around from keys as well as he does and while playing like a beast the piano so...clearly you don't know what your saying
nasir winchester I understand he’s incredibly talented. But the original Stevie wonder version is striped back and not as complex. You can really connect to it and get the feel of what the song means. Adding a bunch of cool and complex jazz chords and stuff makes it sound more interesting, but at the expense of the feeling u get from the original.
music is really just an infinite playground for him isn't it? absolutely incredible
He is really something
just amazing
2019 … the year I experienced this human wonder and beautiful soul for the first time 🥰
I don't ever see myself getting married but I'd definitely want this song played at my wedding. It HAS to
Stevie and Jacob need to collaborate. We all need it.
U are right It will cure covid
PLEASE SAY THAT LOUDER
Therapy: Very Expensive
Watching this video on youtube: Free
I chose both
god sends angels from time to time
That's one of the most if not the most absurdly unbelievable displays of musicianship I've ever seen
The world needs love and healing . And music that shows people how connected we all are. Good job Jacob Collier . You are in the light .
this is beyond incredible, I have never seen anything like this in my entire life
He is amazing
He combines every song he released into a simply jazz improvised performance. Amazing.
This is the most impressed by Jacob I have ever been. I've listened as much as his work as I could, and this takes the cake.

Likewise.
Him and his music are just so sacred😌✨
There are 2 geniuses in the room here. Jacob and Stevie Wonder, who wrote this song (for those who don't know).
definitely one of my favourite stevie songs
Also the person who made sure to film it
i'm pretty sure herbie hancock and steve vai are also in that room so... lol
@@LuizPiresGuitar haha good point :) And who knows what hidden geniuses there may be wandering around.
@@LuizPiresGuitar don't for get good ol quincy jones, also pretty sure stevie wasn't there but he could have been backstage i suppose

Surprised to say the least ....impressed ... always !
Funniest part, “Are there any stevie wonder fans in the house tonight?”
music is an expression of love and love is infinite...
Yes. thank you for your conscious presence . ❤️⭐️
10:02 - 10:37 - Him going off on a seemingly random modulating rift and then bringing the piano back in EXACTLY on key ... bruh!

The Insta live with Tori Kelly brought me here. Your talent kept me here 😍😱
Morien R me too 🙋🏽♂️
wonderful, thank you so much for the great filming and sharing of this amazing performance series. More please!
Now you must acquire a taste for free Jacob jazz
@9:25 jacob collier making fun of jacob collier
haha
The king of harmony

2:48 that low note...... ;-;
Супер
8:23 daniel caeser combined with you and I
Wow this is very different compared tohis original arrangement
JC was angry!
He's so free😂😂
Yes. He is awake .
holy fucking shit.
Not all is gray.
damn 6:58
He just can’t stay in a single key for more than 30 seconds

Ngl he kinda ruins this song

@@propmaster101 well at the end of the day its your opinion so i dont understand why people are mad at you but atleast you enjoy the original :)
@@propmaster101 lucky he's not trying to make a carbon copy of the original then. It's ok to appreciate both versions for what they are:)
