      I agree, after watching every possible video he did, coming back to this one really "sealed the deal" with me. In the audience that night were Mr. Quincy Jones, composer Hanz Zimmer, guitarist Steve Vai and rapper Trey Dolla Sign, along with many seasoned LA musicians. This dramatic dynamic display blew them all away...one wonder boy and a magical piano!

    this song has been so ethereal to me. i heard it earlier tonight, and i’m instantly hooked. it’s all consuming, it’s perfection. it came on as a radio after listening to a particular good song to sob to, which was what i was doing, and within 2 minutes my tears had dried and i was just so calm. all of jacobs music is a cure to everything wrong with the world and the appreciation i have for him is immense.

    This is such a masterpiece. Thank you Jeff Allen for capturing this. I wonder what other phenomenal JC performances only live on in memories. I feel like everything he does needs to be recorded for posterity. But, as JC observes, maybe 'its fading is its greatest treasure'. Hmmm.. I don't think so.

    As great as he is, I really expected a lot more from him on this magnificent song, so I was let down. Part of it is if you're gonna cover or interpret Wonder you really better BRING IT vocally, and I mean for real, and he just doesn't have the chops vocally for this tune. So I'd love to hear Jacob tackle this tune again in another setting....

    • @musicmusic5836
      @musicmusic5836 3 года назад

      This is a very conscious performance. It’s not about competing with Stevie wonder it’s about showing the world , what is possible and Jacob is doing it . LISTEN.

    • @pputnam100
      @pputnam100 3 года назад

      @@musicmusic5836 yeah yeah we all got that, he's not competing, but he IS covering a masterpiece and what he does with it is fabulous, my only beef if you will, is not holding up the vocal to the same level of brilliance. Look, the kid is a musical monster, multi instrumentalist, some of the instruments he really plays well, well, ok mainly just piano, but all his theoretic brilliance doesn't change the fact that he's merely a decent singer. That's all

    • @musicmusic5836
      @musicmusic5836 3 года назад

      @@pputnam100 you don’t get what he is doing . of course it holds up vocally but it is also so much more than that but you can’t see that because you’re not on the same level spiritually. So maybe don’t critique what you don’t understand and clearly never will understand

      I'll sure you very few or close to none are capable to do what he does vocally or as a pianist...his range is out of this world as well of his control and capability to move around from keys as well as he does and while playing like a beast the piano so...clearly you don't know what your saying

      @propmaster101 4 года назад +2

      nasir winchester I understand he’s incredibly talented. But the original Stevie wonder version is striped back and not as complex. You can really connect to it and get the feel of what the song means. Adding a bunch of cool and complex jazz chords and stuff makes it sound more interesting, but at the expense of the feeling u get from the original.
