Thank you so much. Tonight, bad neighbourhood, pitch black, can't lock freelander with fob. Torch, piece of copper wire, shorted the plug as you indicated, taped it up to keep water out. Closed bonnet, no fault indicated, licked vehicle with fob. It's guys like you that make the web brilliant..
Thanks. Refreshing style to your video - a voyage of discovery (ha!) rather than some cutesy “I’ve already worked out the answer and this is how I did it” sort of thing. Keep going guys!
Very helpful. Yes, In US, the switch is still on the right side (UK Driver, US Passenger). In my case, the switch is bad (tested with ohm meter, and after cleaning, it works sometimes, but not all the time). I ordered the replacement switch from Atlantic British (~ $40.00).
I had this problem, but your fix did not work….BUT when I noticed the corrosion on the u bolt that the latch hooks around, I cleaned it off and now no more warning note!
When you have the switch out of the car it's probably worth doing a continuity check across both pins with the switch closed, to make sure it's working properly.
Didn't show that it worked because that was the wrong switch you guys were playing with. The actual switch is located in the battery compartment which when closing the boot will collapse the proxy.
Awesome, been trying to research this as have the same problem!, no mention of this sensor/switch in the LR3 manuals, naturally! Thanks!!!! Have some other problems: [1]Also have a horn which has mostly never worked, except for a couple times it went off as part of the alarm system, with a "chirp". Am thinking, is there a way to reset the alarm system to default?? [2] A few months after purchase(used, 2007), the instrument cluster became intermittent(no lights, no turn signal sounds,no gauge operation) One test , was the speech function still worked, i.e. the voice responded, of course, there was no corresponding message on the cluster. Am assuming this is a loose conneciton, and disassembling most of the dashboard to get the cluster out to search for the connection problem,....but....possibly this is a known problem with an easier fix???
Hi - glad we have helped with the bonnet switch issue. The Disco 3 has a separate "siren" for the alarm and another for the horn www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Discovery-3-Range-Rover-Sport-Anti-Theft-Alarm-Siren-YWK500040-/112336941079?fits=Model%3ADiscovery%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+III&epid=2095192352&hash=item1a27cdb017:g:q9kAAOSw-7RVFDFN The horn is easy to change - its just behind the grille. I dont think we have done a remove the dash video but it should be similar to the sport see below ruclips.net/video/0twlR5nXoRU/видео.html If you get stuck let me know and i will do a video for the Disco 3
Ah ... good question... of course here in the UK we sit on the RH side of the car ! ( the correct side to drive a car... ) So yes it will be on the Right Side of the car....
Kinda sucks to lose 80% of you potential audience bc you labelled the video only as “bonnet”. If you had also used “hood” in the title you would have 100% audience

Yes i guess but its so easy to fit a new one... it is a safety device so i would keep it
Drivers side U.K. or Drivers Side U.S. ?
