    In this video I turn a broken Mac Mini into a vacuum forming machine. Why did I do this? Im still not sure myself.

    My name is Chris, I am a 3D printing hobbyist from australia. I dont really specialise in anything specific, but 3D printed tools and tabletop accessories are some things youll probably seen quiet often. I do all my 3d printing on a Ender 3, which I highly recommend as a budget printer. Currently I only run 1 printer but I hope to expand that in the future. Recently acquired a photon 0 to do resin printing with. I like to share all my 3D printing ideas for free although I do plan to sell stuff in the future. Most of my projects will be mostly 3D printed with a few non printed components included, these can often be found on ebay. I actually use the cheapest filament I can get for all my projects, again I hope to change this in the future.

      Called "hard rubbish" in Australia, you book it in advance and put it out the night before because the council doesnt want people picking through it.

    the thing about the plastic being lighter after sanding, you could solve it without paint. You just need to blast it with a heat gun for short while at the temperature roughly below the temperature you set your 3D printer bed at

      Will have to give that a try next time. I even used a heat gun to dry if off here so could have saved me some time

    Very cool!
    I wonder if you were to coat the entire casio watch in nail polish for a conformal coating if it would increase it's "waterproofness" or maybe a few coats of that clear rubberized flexcoat stuff...(well not the battery part of course)

    I instinctively committed that tidbit about vacuum formers and bed size to memory. It's been a while since an idea in a video jumped out at me like that.

      Using the electric griddle as the plastic heater was a neat trick!, also the sizes of holders to reduce waste was nice.

    super nice idea of plastic forming, the only downside of the watch design i see is the view angles of the display are a little low, maybe? but it looks kinda retro CRT like :D

    Upvoted just for the puns alone, although the concept (especially different bed sizes) is interesting. Looks like you're just heating the plastic up in a frying pan - can you give any info on the process here?

    • @Borgedesigns
      @Borgedesigns  6 месяцев назад +2

      Its a "heated serving tray" which you can cook in. It was just what I could find (also in a bin) on the day. They dont really get hot enough, a portable electric hot plate is ideal. I didnt show it here but I had a few failed forms due to the plastic not being hot enough, so I had to use a heat gun which got it too hot and it blew out.
