Vito Scaletta has started to make a name for himself on the streets of Empire Bay as someone who can be trusted to get a job done. Together with his buddy Joe, he is working to prove himself to the Mafia, quickly escalating up the family ladder with crimes of larger reward, status and consequence.

As of Mafia 3, Joe is alive (cameo in Mafia 3) Vito is alive but in Mafia 3 there is an option to kill him, and Vito never did give Joe the 5 dollars, and I can't remember what happened to Eddie

It was probably an idea taken from a fifties move named “Rebel Without a cause”. Theres a planetarium scene in that movie. Its very likely that happened because mafia 2 takes place in the fifties
@Youre Gonna Need a Bigger Boat I think it's just a nod to the ending of Mafia 1. Maybe they wanted to finish it in a place like an observatory. Mafia 1 ended in a big gallery with a betrayal shootout and Mafia 2 was also the same. Mafia 3 was not entirely Czech's game so they ruined their streak. Also Mafia games have the option to kill the protagonists in the next games.

Something hit me about the title of the chapter. "Per Aspera Ad Astra." Through hardship to the stars. It's basically two levels, one is that it ends at an observatory after hiring through an army of goons, "hardship" before reaching "the stars." But also, Vito's monologue at the beginning. He dreamed of money, power, freedom, a big position in the Mob, "the stars" after a life fo hardship, such as his father dying in debt. But he didn't really reach the stars, did he? Just reached an observatory then went back down to earth. All the years, the war, prison, shootouts, hardships, nd it got him nothing. All these years and it never hit me.
We'll actually Vito got most of what he want, but there always an exchange for that, an that was his friend, Joe. (In my opinion Joe must be working with vinci is because he worked with Falcone [from mafia 3 perspective])
Well he did reach the tip-top; not that it mattered. He lost friends and family. He lost everything he would gain and made risks so big that the benefits no matter how big still stung. He got exiled from Empire Bay- not that New Bordeaux and Sal Marcano was any help.
@@TrevorParker.Yeah that's what Vito was alluding to during His monologue at the beginning of this Chapter, He got everything He wanted:wealth beyond His wildest dreams, prestige, fancy cars, expensive suits and beautiful women, but in the end the price was too high

Mafia II is to me an epic game. The strong storyline makes it close to a movie. If only 2K Czech use cinematic cutscenes...

The soundtrack that plays at the end is slightly different.
For me the crescendo began immediately when he said,
*Joe wasn't a part of the deal*
And it was a slower, sadder version. This just sounds like the menu music.
I cried at the end when the took Joe somewhere else, I knew what that meant.

Btw it's sorta reference to the first mafia where Sam before death said that honor is meaningless and friendship aint worth shit but here they talk the same drill but instead Joe actually shows the opposite about friendship and Leo Galante shows the opposite about honor by not killing Joe because he respects Vito

I am pretty damn sure Carlo would’ve killed Joe after Vito if Joe couldn’t have taken Vito’s side. After all Joe was one of the reason for all these mess, that Carlo knew very well. Even if Leo separated them, both of them survived, in their own way. It was for everyone’s good. I truly respect the character Leo, no matter whoever says what. He is the reason the whole story went this much
Well actually I think that Carlo was truly willing to give Joe a second chance since Joe saved Him from being assassinated by His former Capo Rocco at Eddie Scarpa's "Cathouse"/The Garden Of Eden

It's been six years since this game came out and i still get worked up not knowing what Joe's fate is. And I didn't see the entire whole playthrough but I don't think they paid Bruno his 55k right?

Ok, I have a thought here. When Vito sees Joe be driven away, Leo tells him that Joe wasn't part of their deal implying Joe was to be killed. But we don't know what was being said in Joe's car. Maybe Joe was taken to Frank Vinci's house where he was offered the same deal by Vinci who told him Vito isn't part of it. Another words, Vinci tells Joe that Vito's dead the same way Leo tells Vito that Joe's dead. Now you got two best friends thinking the other is dead. One is sent to New Bordeaux where his story is somewhat continued in Mafia III where he is basically grieving his best friend's "death" Meanwhile, the other stays in Empire Bay & becomes Vinci's driver until Vinci passes away then becomes Leo's driver all while grieving the "death" of his dear friend who unknowingly to him is still alive & Visa Versa. They were simply suppressed & put on leashes. And oh Yeah I believe Lincoln is Joe's son. Lol

That’s the thing, in the Criminal Underworld, anybody assosciated with a rat has the possibility of being a rat themselves. It’s not the issue on Vito’s end, its that Leo, Mr. Chu, and Frank Vinci dont know if he’s a rat or not, especially since he vouched for Henry to join Carlo’s Family. So all the questions are up in the air on that.

C Fazo That was referring to law enforcement who asked him how he got the federal ration stamps. Vito was a true Mafia guy from beginning to end. He wanted money, fame, women, etc. He didnt want to rat on the Mafia. Henry was the rat. But because Vito vouched for him, not knowing that Henry truly was a rat to the FBI, Mr. Chu and Leo couldnt trust Vito. Him killing Falcone kept him alive, if he hadnt, he was going to die. The Mafia life only has a handful of ways you leave. All of them when you stop breathing.
@@Shockfactor22 one thing I don't understand about this mission is that when vito arrives to kill Carlo and Joe has a gun to vito's head and carlo said to vito that you vouched for a rat why didn't joe get upset?? Thorougout the game vito always asked joe what if Henry was a rat? And joe always denied it even being a possibility so how comes now joe accepts that piece of information??
Aaron Carter Probably because Falcone told him and gave him the same info Leo had. I can hazard a guess at that point it was reality soapping him in the face. Not only that I think Joe was weighing his options in the situation.
Was Falcone really the villain? I mean Vito and Joe killed the triads and he did vouch for Henry, who was an informant

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. All you have to do is replay Chapter 14 and after you kill Derek, don't rob shops! Just keep crushing cars and it should work

2. Vinci Family : Derek and Steve murdered Vito's father.
3. Falcone Family : ... well you know from playing the story.
