Ello Ello from Eagle River Alaska!!! Moose love willow. It is basically a weed here and we have TONS!!!! I have made some baskets with it but always enjoy seeing what others are making. Testing birch bark now as we have tons of that too. Tks for sharing :)

I love foraged willow as it’s so versatile and can have many uses! Grabbing what you have near you is part of the fun, making that end result more special to you, I love doing that!
@@agreatalternative Utube is nice like that but I lived in UK many years but travel the world for work. I was taught to make baskets by an Inupiak/Inuit lady and I loved the classes but am moving to Ohio next month!!! Too brutally cold here. Lots of morel mushrooms here, mud flats for clay and I wish I had more time but I LOVE painting kindness rocks to give away and now I just started wood carving. My husband wants us to start a travel channel as we embark on our 5K trip across the Yukon to Ohio..... Yesterday I filed at the Alaska Heritage center all native crafts and artifacts. I nearly cried there were so many beautiful items. Did you know they make salmon LEATHER from the skin and make all kinds of things with it???? Fur of course they do it is a native thing we have to be mindful of cultural differences not like the UK or Europe but it was so nice. I filmed it all and will add that to my new channel soon and in 2 languages as well :) English and Italian. lol. Keep creating :)
@ Sounds like an exciting adventure ahead, with so many crafts as well!! I think I’m a little like that, I couldn’t just do one thing! 😁 I have seen salmon leather before slough haven’t yet had the chance to try it out as a few bushcraft companies do courses over here. I love learning the history behind some of these crafts and then seeing how they could be used today as alternatives for shop brought items! Then I’ve got some random weave projects planned (small baskets and sculptures with wooden handles) alongside the lid/ extras so hopefully before the year is out these will be released as well. Its really difficult to say because it totally depends on how tight your weave is and how small you want the holes to be. This backpack used a good bundle of weavers (I'd guess at around 100 rods minimum) Also I've learnt it always takes more than you think!
I so enjoyed this video. Who knew you could incorporate basket weaving, yoga, bush walking & mindfulness all at the same time.
