Sorry I'm not tripping right? The corner bad apple, the "original" Isn't the original??? Wtf? Uhhhhh it's not the same---- it's changed wtf
it was inverted because the mesh itself was inverted by accident and i didn't catch it during the making of the video
@@FlavoredSaucer okay okay bc i really got really confused like, i am being gaslighted infront of my face, thanks 😭🤙🏻
@@FlavoredSaucer What do you mean "mesh itself was inverted"? In your video it has no sides, it works both ways, you did not need to invert the color of the video lol
@@andriib9390 the mesh was generated using a marching cubes algorithm and inputting the frames of bad apple as a volume. the problem i didn't realize is that for SDFs 0 (black) is considered solid while 1 (white) is empty space. so the mesh is "inverted" in a sense. the video in the corner was meant to be overlayed directly on the section of the mesh that's being cut away but i moved it to the corner so you could see inside, and forgot to switch the colors around.
@@FlavoredSaucer I see, but I meant that you did not need to invert the video itself, as the mesh is just a contour anyways, and it doesn't really matter which side of the contour we assign which color

Eventually, we can make a bread that display Bad Apple when you cut a slice.
Someone write this down
we’ve already done it with an actual apple
@@coolroy_25 well yes, but when I cut into an apple I don’t get bad apple. I want it so that when I cut into bread, I get seperate frames of bad apple
Person 1 pulls a loaf of bread out of the bag, cuts a slice.
Person 1: Hey, is this that special apple bread?
Person 2: yeah, I think so. Why?
Person 1: I think it's gone bad.
Shows 2 the slice. Cut to a FX frame of bad apple in the bread
2: I wonder if it's all these loaves we have, or just this one.
Proceed to an FX shot of them cutting slice after slice eventually speeding up to a time lapse with the music fading in.
After the whole thing, cut back to the two talking.

The way 'faster moving' parts of the outline are thicker is super interesting. Like a different take on smear frames
The blue highlight seems to have a certain depth to it. "Faster" parts slope more, so the highlight covers more area since it's constant depth and not constant length along the surface.

You only ever need something with two states to play Bad Apple, so I propose Bad Apple represented by electrons with spin 1/2 and -1/2.

@@anerdwithaswitch9686 Electron Bad Apple? Genius.

This is actually a really handy tool for explaining that time is a fourth dimension
Can you explain please? it sounds really interesting!
Actually time is a separate dimensio
If we take this video for example, weather we cut through this solid or not, time is still affecting it
This solid can replicate the animation because we are cutting it, not because time is passing
@@clay-pidgeon the simple version is: imagine a dimension is just a direction. You can go in 3 directions in space, but also forwards or backwards in time, so you could say time is just another dimension. Also, to locate something, you need to specify its coordinates but also the time at which that thing is located in that place.
@@MrTomyCJ makes you wonder how being in the fourth dimension would look like. I believe it would be incredibly overwhelming, because you should see every position of EVERYTHING that was ever in the space you can see. Our brains couldn't handle that, I think.

This looks like the basis for a baller frame interpolation algorithm. Make that box smooth and you've got yourself several hundred or thousand fps right there
Imagine 3D printing this. It'd make a nice paper weight.
3D printing and then using a laser cutter or just some sanding tool to slowly make a stop motion capture of the frames
A 10 foot tall paperweight
Or a wind tunnel
You could print it with each frame as a layer and then remove each layer.
You might want to get a pretty long 3d printer
Not many people realize that this is how a 4D object would theoretically look like in 3D space, provided that 4D was time
A 4D object in 3D space looks exactly how things actually already look. We already are things in a 4D space (where time is the 4th dim). What's different is 4 spatial dimensions, most visualizations online (like the hypercube) are for that.
I think it's more about how you can use a 3d object to simulate 2d
Except its if a 2d object had the temporal dimension be a third spacial dimension, instead of a 3d object with time being another spacial dimension.
i have no clue as to what any of you people just said
THAT'S EXACTLY HOW I EXPLAIN 4D
The use of a volume to make the video really just shows how well animated the original video is.
I want my house to be laid out like this
The most interesting part for me is how it clearly shows the jumps/breaks between frames in what would otherwise appear to be fluid movement in the animation.
I was thinking he could have used a high framerate version of it where AI already had it's take trying to match the lines properly (and also remove the outer edges)
bad apple is 30fps
2:03 Looks like it actually split the volume
Every time there is a scene of a charafter raising their hand, spinning, or dropping simething, the upcoming frames look absolutely GORGEOUS.
This is strangly really good for explaining dimensions. Like you could use this to explain time as the fourth dimension, but also use it as an example for what it would be like to move a three dimensional object through a two dimensional space.
This is what we’d look like in the fourth dimension
Nah, that's how a 2D character would interprete 3D
Not if you mean the fourth spatial dimension, if you mean time then yes, sort of
If we made a graphic like this for a 3D animation, then That would be 4D
If their 4th axis is the same dimension as our time, then definitely this is comparable
@@pyrielt yes, but it is also how we would percieve a 2d being who uses our 3rd axis as their time

That's funny. I was actually enjoying using the upcoming volume to predict what was coming.
That's Natural selection if you want to exist in the 4th dimension
Back when I had a hiperfixation on how a 4D plane would look like, I got into an argument with my dad claiming that in theory, time does count as a separate dimension, claiming that you could graph a 2D animation as a 3D trayectory, (I used the example of a flip book, but I wish I had found this animation earlier to illustrate the point), and thus came to the conclusion, that WE lived in a 4D plane, but being unable to perceive the phisical image of time, we just classified it as 3D, and tbh, I still hold that theory, I'm already able to visualize how making a graphic of a 3D animation like this would work, but I am sadly unable to represent the mental image on a phisical object
Anyways, very good video, yet another bad apple to the collection
Same, this explains it really well.
I had another thought, which is that interacting with a 4d object would always involve time, and possibly time shenanigans. Similarly 2d universe interacting with us would percieve us through time shenanigans. 4ds would see everything we were doing as just part of the shape of the 4d object called "universe", and probably struggle to interact with us, unless there's another axis if time that they and us can both travel along merging us into the same 5d object, but not sure thats possible.
Before it goes to what i went to, it does explain why dimensions can't interact though, because they all have to be merged into one object while traveling along another axis as time
Do you believe in a 5th dimension too then? What's your theory on that?
As our sight is 2D, how would you interpret a fourth dimension in two dimensions is an excellent question.
@@miraidongaming if our universe is a single 4 dimensional object encompassing all of time, the 5th dimension is the space that 4d object is in - as well as infinite other 4d universes, containing every possible version or variation of our universe, and infinite branching possibilities.

Well ofc, all it's doing is transposing 4d into 3d, since 3d isn't used in the animation. Too bad this wouldn't work on 3d things.
So someone on 4D universe would be able to see time like that.
