As a European hunter: Great work explaining the process. I'd add though, that to get an even more authentic Euro-mount would be to then mount the skull on a wooden carved "trophy-shield" after cutting off parts of the skull (either "long-nose" or "short-nose" depending on height of cut).
Way back in my youth in the '60s, I thought that the way to do a Euro mount was to put the head on an ant hill and let the ants clean it up. It disappeared. I'm guessing a dog drug it off.

How do you mount it for display once you get it to that stage?
