If they can lie about the name of a song, what else could they be lying about? This is surely the end of all things~! I'll be with my family, if we die we don't die alone.
"not that bad"?!! The groundbreaking techniques used in the video were a revelation when this played back in the 90s. There was nothing like it. Michel Gondry is a genius.
That language is brazilian portuguese with a bit of a carioca accent, Nina Miranda's voice is always a treat to our ears, she also sings a bit of french in a couple other songs IIRC. I can't really say anything about her french as I don't speak any french, but her voice always sounds great to me in whatever language she sings. If you like a bit of portuguese in songs, try listening to Sofi Tukker as well. They did a live performance on KEXP that you definitely should listen if you also liked Smoke City. For someone born in Germany and grown in Canada, Sophie speaks portuguese very well and the only slight giveaway I've noticed so far that portuguese isn't her first language is the way she says "jacaré"... but besides that, I could have thought she either was born or raised in Brazil, which is amazing, she clearly put a lot of effort learning portuguese just because she loved how it sounds in poetry and music.
The sexual energy in this music video is electric but yet it’s not overstated especially with the Rhodes piano and heavy bossa nova drums at the end. Remember they used to play this a lot on MTV Dance in the mornings. Wonderful tune!
Back then it was one of the most touching pieces of music for me. I used to listen to it for at least hundreds of times. What a masterpiece of slowing down, emotions, mood, erotic, surrealism and pure beauty. There is hardly any music which makes me emotional even after so many years....
When this came out I was a 11years old girl, i remember it impressed me so much that the same night i had a surrealistic dream about me falling in love with a siren who was trapped into a swimming pool. How weird. . After 20years I still remind
After the rain comes sun.....It was a storm inside my soul listening this masterpiece in 90's....That's a legendary and poetic song that can to describe that magical moment...💫💫💫
Only English (sang with a somewhat french accent) and Brazilian Portuguese (with a strong southeastern Brazil accent). Nina Miranda (vocalist and lyricist) was born and raised in Brasília (Brazil's federal capital in the West of the country) but sings the Portuguese parts of "Underwater Love" with a strong Rio de Janeiro accent (and I don't know why of this). The English part is sung with this supposed French accent, but actually she talks perfectly, with a light Brazilian accent.
@@Ignatius1972 She sings a bit of french in Devil Mood, another song in this same album. I didn't know she was from Brasília, I could have sworn she was raised in Rio de Janeiro. But I guess it makes sense, carioca accent seems very popular for music. Sophie, from Sofi Tukker, also sings with a carioca accent, which is kinda funny as IIRC her first contact with the language was as a exchange student in Minas Gerais.
Yeah the balloon shot right I was also thinking this reminds me of matrix bit this was BEFORE matrix It's sad how ppl in power elevate ideas of young minds and feed off of them
@@syntheticsilkwood2206 I was just watching another video talking about The Matrix and the vfx supervisor, John Gaeta, didn't claim he invented the technique, but that he was inspired by other works. I've seen Michel Gondry mentioned in another comment but I couldn't find anything linking him to this music video either, but on the trivia page on his profile on IMDB, it mentions similar effects being used in Björk's Army of Me (it's very early in the music video) and an 1971 short by the animator Bruce Bickford with a name that there's no hope you'd be able to find it, even if it is available online somewhere. I would love to find more about the history of similar effects being used before The Matrix, but I don't have much hope. Nothing useful can be found on Google or RUclips anymore, their search results are getting progressively worse each year, to the point it looks even worse than the alternatives they displaced in the early days.

Danced to this song 25 years ago in clubs in Ibiza and Munich. It is surreal...like it was just yesterday.
Absolutely sublime sensual masterpiece.😮

It's UNDERWATER LOVE, guys.
Never thought portuguese was this sensual, great mix of genres and languages, and the video is pure surrealism
absolut!
French and Italian for urban romance, Portuguese for mystical sensualism 😍
I speak Portuguese ! ;)
Agree
OF COURSE!!! Especially with a Carioca accent )from Rio(
It was ahead of its time. Even the effects in the video are not that bad. Very arty. 🤓
Love this song till the end of time. It’s perfect.
The effects seriously haven't aged at all.
And there's bullet time technique before it was cool.

This must be underwater love
The way I feel it slipping all over me
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it
O que que é esse amor, d'água
Eu sei que eu não quero mais nada
Follow me now
To a place you only dream of
Before I came along
When I first saw you
I was deep in clear blue water
The sun was shining
Calling me to come and see you
I touched your soft skin
And you jumped in with your eyes closed
And a smile upon your face
Você vem, você vai
Você vem e cai
E vem aqui pra cá
Porque eu quero te beijar na sua boca
Que coisa louca
Vem aqui pra cá
Porque eu quero te beijar na sua boca
Ai que boca gostosa
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
After the rain comes sun
After the sun comes rain again
Cai cai e tudo tudo cai
Tudo cai pra lá e pra cá
Pra lá e pra cá
E vamos nadar
Y vamos nadar e tudo tudo dá
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it slipping all over me
This must be underwater love
The way I feel it
Oh oh d'água we are full
Underwater
Oh underwater love
