Licks 3 and 4 from the Cream days .....are for me , the pinnacle of Clapton`s playing back then ......So cool.

This is so useful. I'm at that horrible stage where I know all the Pentatonics , Blues Scales etc but I struggle to be creative. These licks have given me so much thought that I can build on these to produce my own riffs/phrases. Thanks so much 10 out of 10

5 & 6 are my personal favourites. I can never forget when I first saw that clip from Royal Albert Hall. That is one of the few moments where you can see all three of them in one frame.

Such a shame there isn't a print of the footage without the goofy effects.

Awesome (as usual from you). I am only surprised that something wasn't taken from Stepping Out. That piece is chalk full of great licks, though I guess not much 'repeating' ones. Thank you sir for another great vid.

I can't say I can place Clapton using lick # 1, but Page loves that lick! A lot of those early hard rock/blues rock licks were used by everybody.

Love this. All these are must know moves if you truly consider yourself a blues/rock guitar player. Clapton on a Gibson is just the best sound ever. Every lick on the Live Cream album is pure fire. There's also a great live recording of Cream in Detroit on RUclips that's essential listening. The band is blazing. Salute to EC. Thx for the great little tutorial video.

Those are great, thanks! If you ever want to do something similar, one suggestion might be your favourite top 5/10 descending "throw away" licks - hard to describe but they're very fast, mainly descending licks, for example the second lick in the intro in the album version of Have You Ever Loved a Woman by Derek and the Dominos.
