I'm crying buckets watching this. It's so incredibly sad.
This storyline might be the saddest ever in soap history. So painful to watch.
I remember this storyline and it was heart breaking and I couldn't bear the thought of her losing her child. My youngest son was three years old at the time. In 2021 it became a horrible nightmare when I got the call to come to the hospital. I called his Dad and woke him up at 1:30 am. My son was brain dead and on life support. They already had contacted LifeLink because he registered as an organ donor at the DMV a week earlier when he went to renew his license. Unlike "Tom" on AMC, my ex husband refused to attend our son's Memorial because his significant other for 20 years didn't like that idea bc I am single and him attending or supporting me, surrounded by family was not necessary. He simply wanted 1/2 the ashes which he wants to mix with his in a bio-urn that grows into a tree of your choice. He did not send flowers, did not contribute except for the $900 cremation fee.
They shouldn't have let THAT little girl go. She was a very talented child actress. I LOVE children, I am an early childhood teacher, and they are all precious. The actress who played Laura, however, didn't just stand there and say her lines and look cute, then was ushered off the stage. She had enormous stage presence. Too bad we weren't blessed with seeing her after that fateful day that 'Laura' was killed. She was also the 'daughter' of my favorite character, Brooke English.

Tom is cute guy and caring, compassionate person.
When Barabara returned to PV years later an alcoholic, Laura was never even mentioned. Bad move not to do that.
I forgot how good this was
We had a similar tragedy 4 months ago. We lost our 6yr old granddaughter drowned due to the negligence of a stupid, self centered woman who was supposed to keep her safe. The writers and the actors were true to life. The sadness and the anger are very realistic.

This may be AMC's most heartbreaking story ever. I never forgave Josh for killing Laura while driving drunk (a policeman, no less); and Barbara should never have let Laura cross the street alone. The performances of Julia Barr, Richard Shoberg, David Canary, Susan Pratt, and Stan Albers were excellent!

Barbara let Laura cross the street alone because Laura LIED to her and said she was allowed to. Laura's half responsible for dying.
The proper response to Laura's claim would be "Not when you're with me. Take it up with your Dad later.". The adult has to be the adult.

Shortly after this, Barbara started drinking, and her and Tom ended. Then she got involved with her ex Travis Montgomery .They had 2 children, Molly and Sean Montgomery.
They should never have killed off Laura shortly after writing that Brooke couldn’t conceive anymore. 😢
The two plot points happening so close were done to basically intensify Adam's drive for a child hence everything that happened with Dixie happening.

Tom is too understanding to Barbara. He should hate her. Would he have been so understanding to Brooke and Adam? I think not.

He was still to forgiving even after he got the story, he would of tried to kill Adam
I was never a big fan of Adam but I know he would have caught hell.

christian martinez letting a five-year-old cross the street by herself? No, this was Barbra's fault. She was allowed her to cross that street without supervision, and as I recall she was happy when she was finally alone and Laura was out of her hair. Laura, was in her care and she had a responsibility.

Didn't she cheat on poor Tom with her asshole ex Travis, then get pregnant and pretend the kid was Tom's? Didn't she keep up the lie until the kid was diagnosed with leukemia, whereupon she ran to Travis and cheated on Tom AGAIN with him, to conceive a bone marrow donor? Didn't the two deceitful creeps decide to leave poor Tom devastated (because he'd once again "lost" a child he loved, thanks to Barbara) and remarry, and move their "perfect little family" north, and then have the nerve to go about like their s*** didn't stink and they were free to pass judgement on anyone they considered "beneath" them?

Josh was responsible for Laura's death, but Barbara, the selfish bitch, couldn't be bothered to watch over the child when Tom had entrusted Laura to Barbara's "care." Tom should have cursed her out to her face and banned her from his presence. But he didn't, and she pretended she was actually grief-stricken when she was just feeling sorry for herself. Then she crapped all over Tom again. And again. She even cruelly passed off her asshole ex Travis's kid as his! Tom was far from perfect, but he was one of the few nice, decent, humble characters on the soap. I liked him and Brooke together -- the only time I did actually like Brooke. They made each other better people. But after they split, Brooke regressed while Tom stayed (mostly) good.
While its Josh and Barbara's fault it is also Laura's for lying about being allowed to cross the street by herself. That simply cannot be denied. Tom and Shaun discussed this before the funeral.
