No it's from people who care about melody and not using English wrongly. It's full of weird translation choices and language errors.

Parts of this song reminded me of that one lead belly song nirvana did a cover of. Very similar timing. Some of the verses actually sound like they're interchangeable
"Where did you sleep last night" I'm guessing you're reffering to. It's a traditional song so it's technically not Leadbelly's although he was probably among the first to record that version yes.

I'm sorry but this isn't very good. The number of syllables are completely wrong in at least one part of almost every phrase which messes up the melody. And the translation is horrible.
"The hunger gnaws at his too wolvish mood"? How the hell can a wolf have a too wolvish mood? Does the person who wrote this speak english? It feels auto translated or something. And surely if the wolf is hungry, that would add to the mood, it doesn't gnaw on it? (the mood, if it's wolvish, would be added to, not gnawed away, right?)
In the original, the hunger gnaws at his belly (which makes sense), but how can hunger "gnaw" on your mood? It makes no sense, it's a bad translation, it's not even really proper english and it messes up the metre of the song.
Also, it's full of weird language mistakes, like wolves have dens, not burrows, they don't burrow. That would be ok (poetic license) if it fit well in the melody, but it sadly doesn't.
Musically, this is a 2/5 and as a translation it's 1/5. The singing itself is a 4/5 so you just need someone else to translate that can fit the text to melody.
Astrid Lindgren deserves better than this guys.

And there is a difference between when a song is nonsensical intentionally, and when it becomes incomprehensible because the language is used wrongly. You're wrong on all accounts. Sheesh, some people...

If you think you can do better go ahead, you seem much invested in the linguistic accuracy of an obscure Nordic folk song. Translate it for them and send it over for them to perform it.
