- I picked this up two days ago and it looks interesting but it doesn't work, I attempt to get it working again, see how I go.

😂Dave I'm sorry to laugh at your misfortune, but its Familiarity to me is what makes it so funny.
As usual I'm years behind but thanks for another great video. By the way some Zenith FM-only radios used permeability tuning but, of course that's 20MHz out of 100MHz whereas MW and LW would seem more demanding. The low output tube plate voltage had me thinking open output transformer but thankfully (I think) it was the bad cap pulling it down. You did another great video and, at least on my monitor, the case looked decidedly red once you were finished with it. Thanks also for the dummy antenna link and demo of your very clean build.

I have been a shooter for more years then I would like to admit. Having been a cop in the USA for over 20 years. I see these idiots on TV holding their gun sideways and have to laugh. There is no way this adds to accuracy or functionality of a firearm, in fact it pretty much doesn't work worth a crap. I have tried it with several revolvers and semi-automatic pistols and found no reason to shoot from such a hold. Sure it is different, and looks cool to the uninitiated but a good firm two hand hold on a handgun has been and will always be the best for accuracy and functionality. Just wanted to comment on the subject.
I''ve changed my avatar from Stanley Costello to Mr.Diechi01 Why, you may ask? My old tablet gave the ghost up, and it's now in the RUclips heaven. I, in the mean time, was using my cell phone. I got a new tablet and I decided to get a new name. Anyways, have you tried Johnson's Paste Wax for the top coat on your finishes? It's been around since the 1890's and it's, in my opinion, the best. It polishes wood (both furniture and floors), plastic and I suppose Bakelite. Ingredients: deodorized naphtha, carnauba wax, microcrystalline wax and paraffin. I use it once a year in spring cleaning to give my furniture to give a French polish. Cheers.
Hi David ,just wondering if you have ever come across an astor gps model,similar age and construction to this one but a battery powered portable .If you did a video I could follow your trouble shooting guidelines (unlikely),l might learn a bit more.I have 3 of them.Either way they are quite eye catching as a display.good luck with your health,I had a similar prob,hence my nickname ,cheers mate
