Jeff you are amazing! From a rail fan like me this means a lot because it's hard to find an awesome You Tuber like you who dose Train simulator. I would personally like to thank you for getting this because we enjoy this as much as you do. I like that you have a variety of things on your You Tube channel like LSPDFR, GTA online, Train sim mod on GTA 5, and now Train Simulator 2016. Jeff you are correct about the horn lever, when I placed my Raildriver unit in storage the horn lever broke off the unit. I was really disappointed and emailed P.I engineering about the situation and guess what? They sent me out a free one!! How cool is that.
I love how realistic the Sim looks I've been to that station a couple times & it's amazing how accurate these sims are.
I've always been a HUGE fan of trains, and I had the biggest smile on my face when you said you will be bringing more train simulator videos to the Channel.

If you already have the CH throttle quad with the 6 levers, you can create a control profile to use with TS. Works fine.

Hey Jeff, if I could offer a tip about the horn sequence. Crews in locomotives try to get all the blasting down before they cross a road. Second, if you should blast a little early, you may or may not blast a full sequence before crossing the road. For example, should a crew have done the sequence, (2 long, 1 short, 1 long), and they have a bit of a distance still before they cross a road, they may blast one more short blast, and one more long blast until they are over the road. Not trying to nitpick, but that's the prototypical way, but in time, I know you will get better. It just takes practice, because practice makes perfect.

Just a heads up. The brake handle on the right is the independent brake, the one next to it is the automatic. If you push your throttle up past the middle you are engaging the dynamic brakes.
I've been playing Train Simulator since I was a kid. Absolutely excited you're going to be doing more videos. I've found personally the P42 has a decent delay when releasing pressure from the brake cylinders. It takes some time to get used to maintain adequate speed.
I've recently started playing the Chicago Race Track DLC. The Metra F40PH and cab control car is amazing. The livery and sound pack are so legit.

+Jeff Favignano Actually I've found to release the break 3 to 5 seconds earlier than you normally would with a locomotive with more responsive break cylinders.. and also feathering it between Self Lap and released works when trying to get that sweet spot at a station.
I find using the more advanced controls view (F4) helps me get used to how reactive the break cylinders are with different Locomotives as well as how quickly the amps of the traction motor increase by per the percentage.
Good luck I absolutely love this sim.
Would love to see more train sim content... I love sims on transportation (planes, trains, buses) and LSPDFR, so it would be great for one of my favorite RUclipsrs to do train sims.
$200 isn't much when I just spent $300 on a G920 steering wheel and pedals and another $40 for the shifter (I just use it for EuroTruckSimulator 2 and American Truck Simulator). Having a steering wheel makes driving a simulator SO much better. I think this is a must if you play Train Sims (however, I think Train Simulator 2017 is a rip off).

That's cool. I was hoping for a control stand set up. that is known as a desk top engine controls. as far as the 4 handles. the one on the left is the reverser. next is the throttle and dynamic brake handle. then you have the automatic brake and the last is the independent brake. if you want to run it realistic wait 3 seconds between notches when throttling up.
If you want some good routes for TS2016 I would recommend the Pacific Surfliner (With the Los Angeles & San Diego Commuter DLCs), New York New Haven, and Soldier Summit.

Umair Khan What? What do you mean? If you want to know the graphics requirements of train simulator, look on the steam page, that's how you get the game anyway
How about the driver activity graph in terms of speed and time. Could we get such graph from train simulator?
I don't know. I wasn't aware such a thing existed.
Look, I know I said I've been playing TS for a year, I have. But I only really drive British routes and trains and have never seen any sort of 'activity' graph.

This is cool Jeff! I didn't know trains used pre-planned whistle patterns either.
+Cole Byre Its for safety tho this route has quiet zones as well were when you see the whistle board with a red circle and a line going through it. It means do not blow usally engineers will just ring the bell at these types of crossings in IRL the whistle boards for a quiet zone would be a "X" under "QZ". And when always departing stations its either always a 2 blast of the horn or just bell if you are in a heavy residential area. When wanting to go in revers its always 3 quick blast of the horn. Little more to learn. Theres a lot more to learn the railroads have a pretty heafy GCOR book to follow.

Hey a steering wheel and pedals can go as high as a grand. Even a cheap set from Logitech is $299.00. So in comparison it really isn't so bad price wise. I found mine for $179.00 and free shipping.

Release train brake --> Set reverser --> Take throttle to notch 1 --> Release loco brake
Btw there are 3 brakes the one on the throttle is your dynamic brakes, then the big handled brake lever is your train brake if you have cars on your train and the other brake is your locomotive brake if your running with just a single locomotive and no cars.

Nice, we call that route the Tri-Rail here in South Florida. Used to take it from Ft. Lauderdale to Boca Raton for work. Based on my knowledge of where the crossing are (especially in Palm Beach County), it must be tedious to negotiate if the main point is speed management - a lot of rail crossings on main roads. The game looks great and congrats on getting the rail driver. Look forward to more vids!

+Jeff Favignano Actually yes! I even recognized the water treatment plant right before the train station at 14:11 (white, round building with reddish-brown arches). Pretty impressive with the level of detail in this game! Would love it if you went ahead down the rest of the line (at least through Ft. Lauderdale). It's really cool to spot those details.

To give you some feedback. When you're driving a train you always have to whistle at crossings and when you are first going forward and backward from a stopped position. I haven't seen you do that a lot.
Jeff, could you do some videos of Run 8 Train Simulator? Not a lot of people know about this simulation, it has multiplayer! It's hard to find any recent videos for this game as well, due to the fact that half of the videos are ones of the game you show in this video, and not the one I'm looking for. They have a forum for this game as well if you attempt to locate a Multiplayer server.

+not_a_russian MSTS had an introductory train ride mode which let you ride on AI controlled trains.
I had gotten mine as an early Christmas gift, the stickers and decals are poor quality. I would probably try and order a set if I can.

The P42DC was built for speed so even like 26% will shoot it up to 40mph

I live a couple blocks away from the tracks in little falls nj where a tractor trailer got hit by a njtraset train. The trains go at lest 120mph by me to. Look it up on RUclips. Look up tractor trailer hit by train in little falls nj.

That's what they tell you in training, most of the time that's how I goes but I've heard some crews just blowing in there own sequence XD

+Keegan Gidley The way you described it is the FRA mandated signal for grade crossing warnings. Some engineers like to "do their own thing", but if they hit a vehicle at a crossing, and it can be proved that they did not sound a "14L" (the proscribed warning), they can be fired, and possibly jailed.
I was taught by my grandfather who was an engineer (don't know if it is true or just something they joked about in the business.) That the long, long, short long stood for "Stop, Look, and Listen".

The 2 long blasts, shot blast, long blast is the letter "Q" in morse code. It also dates back to the Queen of England. When the entered a port they used this letter to tell everyone to "give the right away"

The TV is 1080p 60hz and it does just fine for me. I have had it since 2009 and it has been pretty much on ever since. Good quality so who is it hurting?
Jeff Favignano Oh, I wasn't being sarcastic, I personally own the RGB Chroma and game on a 55 inch Bravia TV. Like you, I've always found larger screen = more immersive. Not sure how people game on 20 inch screens. So srry if it came off as sarcasm, It def wasn't. I have the same setup and I love it.
