    Thanks for the honest review. My mom pre ordered the 40 from kellyco when they first announced it. She got it today and brought it to me to "play" with so I can show her how it works. We're going on a mothers day hunt Sunday.

    I have the same detector and you’re right about the depth for coins brass, bronze and copper but I’ve detected silver and gold up to or down to 10 inches. I like your presentation. I’ll definitely subscribe.

    It's about time someone shows a good depth test for their machine. This should be done on all soil that you plan to take it to. Thanks for this.

    Thanks you the excellent field test on the model 40. I as well, am a Minelab junky having already added 2 X-Terra 705 gold packs and an Excalibar II to my arsenal of detecting gear a few years ago. Funny thing is the wife was complaining that my detectors were taking up too much room in the trunk of the car or the back of the camper. I told her about the new Go Find series and what the model 40 costs. She promptly told me I was getting the 40 for my birthday and ordered it right away.Dang, can a guy get any luckier?! LOL

    Great video. I know that the video was make about 9 years ago. But I the minelab 22. I have a test garden. I have sliver and gold and regular clad in my test garden. I have dime at 10 inches the 22 has no problem picking up the dime and nickel at 9 .5 inches no problem picking up the nickel. Comes down to it it's what kind of ground. The go finds are great machines fun to play with. There's days I'll take a break from my Deus 2. And take the go find out and have fun and find money and jewelry to relics. Thanks

    I have the go find 40 and it is really nice and easy to use. The deepest coin I've found was a dime at about 6 inches. Most of my finds were about 3 inches deep. Over the years I've found a few dollars worth of coins and tons of junk.

    How do you pinpoint with these.? My bh detector, you sort of get the signal one way then sweep the other and the centre of the cross is where the target is, videos I see of this the signal seems to be at the end of each sweep and none in the middle, it's confusing, I am hoping to buy one tonight

    • @TarheelDiggin
      @TarheelDiggin  9 лет назад

      Slaw Zarz Good question! I'm not 100% sure, but the 60 uses the same coil (10") and operates at the same frequency (7.8 kHz) so my guess would be you would get the same depth. Just a few more bells and whistles on the 60.

      Knut Finstad If you've never used a metal detector before, I would highly recommend the Go-Find 40. Followed closely by the Ace 250, then the Tesoro is not far behind. All good choices really, but that would be my unbiased opinion.

      @TarheelDiggin  6 лет назад

      Generally speaking, right in the center of the coil. Keep in mind, once you're in Pinpoint, you're in "all metal" mode, so it might be picking up trash if you're in a high-traffic area.

    That looked like a good test. I am impressed how it worked in that field. Did the field have a lot of iron? How do you think it would fare on targets next to iron? I am thinking that this would make a good machine for my friend Doug's son Malachi, he likes to go with us to the field and I believe it would be light enough for him.

      Bell-Two Thanks Tony - as you saw, I was hunting in All Metal and it was picking up on the iron signals. I wanted to take it to a trashy park, but just didn't have time. From what I experienced, target separation was pretty decent. Would be a great machine for a youngster. HH!

  • @karls8586

    So i just spent alot of time researching what detector to buy. I'm intrested in detecting as something to drag me out of the house and explore places in a different way. In case of getting bored of it i dont want to spend alot at first, but if i like it i might feel that i'm missing out by going for a low end detector.
    However, i'm intrested in beeing able to go hiking with this in my backpack and to detect at random places where my gut tells me there might be some treasures. Ended up ordering the Go-Find 40 and i'm still not sure if it was the best choice. Would you say there are other detectors in the same price range that would be better, or did i hit the jackpot?

    • @TarheelDiggin

    TFS bubba, does the 60 series get more depth ? Thanks again friend!

      MrSaddie123 Good question! I'm not 100% sure, but the 60 uses the same coil (10") and operates at the same frequency (7.8 kHz) so my guess would be you would get the same depth. Just a few more bells and whistles on the 60.

    Nice comprehensive review Matt. It looks like a good series of entry-level machines. Too bad they don't come with their own bean field, HA!
    Thanks for the review,
    Tim

    Makes you wonder why one would need such a complicated machine as an e-Trac, LOL. I tried to use a Quattro and I just gave up. Ridiculous! Was (WAY) too complicated. Why put oneself through all that stress and frustration. THE WHOLE POINT of the MD hobby is to (HAVE FUN), (NOT) to sit their 'till the cows come home' trying to read a mile-high textbook on how to build a rocket and try to learn 10,000 different tones. Forget it. E-Tracs and Quattros and a couple other detectors from them are a big fat waste of time, (LITERALLY)!! Less time setting up programs and more time out there finding some goodies. That's the beauty of this entry-level machine. The (ONLY) thing I wish MD companies like Minelab would do is now that they made a simple to setup, make it quite a bit deeper. It's a shame that that 'simple is beautiful' concept doesn't always translate into more power. Case in point; the little Bounty Hunter VLF is very easy to use (two knobs) and almost identical in depth as the Minelab Go-Find 40 but what are both of them lacking? The power to get down to the real deep, and often older goodies. Go look at many of the older detectors. Many were also the simple turn on and go detectors (BUT) quite a few of them could perform at least as well, if not better, then the newer ones in the depth department. They only lacked the quick response/recovery times that many of the modern detectors have nowadays. That was the only drawback between modern and not-so-modern.
