Nah hes purified but he was scared that the old gods would try to get him if they knew he was there but we "killed" N’zoth the main responsible of the madness of the black dragons so it’s ok now. Kind of the same for Sabellian, even if he was corrupted by the old gods at the beginning it is supposed that him and his brood got freed of old gods influence during their time in Outland.

Hounestly this looks much better from the viewpoint of a Dracthyr and knowing lore about dragons and what they had to indure over the years
Did they retcon that Ebonhorn couldn’t leave High Mountain because he would go crazy, to he was simply ashamed?
Both are actually canon. He did also refuse to help with the dangers to highmountain
during the highmountain allied race questline I think you fight his whispers or something so that he can leave, but I havent played wow in a bit
Wrathion created a potion for him that stopped the whispers I believe.
