Those chickens of yours are the hardest working little critters I've ever seen! I had no idea they did so much good other than provide eggs!🐓 I can hardly wait for your greenhouse to be completed. Will be interesting to see what you can grow through the winter months, lots of lettuces and greens will thrive for sure. Little Buggie is so adorable. I love hearing her talking. I think I will always call potatoes what Buggie calls them...taboes! She loved digging taboes🥰 See y'all tomorrow.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one that’s just over it. I got that way the first week of August. I was tired of sweating and being dirty every single day. 😝 I let the garden go wild. We have a ton of okra pods that are nearly a foot long. I will be saving and selling the seeds…we don’t like okra, so we were giving it all away. I really want to get my winter garden started as we are finally getting cooler temps with the highs in the low 80’s instead of upper 90’s. But I have beautiful zinnias and marigolds overtaking the garden spaces and I don’t want to rip those out…they are so pretty.

Just a suggestion since you're looking to eliminate steps. Why not re-design your
pallet composter so that you just make one trip to empty it. Have it rest on a pallet,
and lift the entire box which is sitting on the pallet and take it to its final destination,
Have the sides of the pallet box re-designed so that it can open from front & back side
via some latches and empty it that way? Saves many trips with the tractor. IMO.

Suggest giving your chickens much more outside space.
Example: add another 16'x16' space and add an 8' door/gate so you can move the compost with your tractor.
    Win-win.
They get the space that they absolutely need and you save hours of backbreaking work

  • @StoneKathryn
    @StoneKathryn 2 года назад

It's nice you can use the tractor bucket to move the compost around. Using the Gorilla Cart would take a bit longer. Good to see Jack and Tyler helping with the compost removal from the chicken coop. You ended up putting the wood chips in by yourself. Yep, the tomatoes are starting to fall off in production so it makes sense that you are taking some of the plants out. I thought that you can't compost tomato vines. I pretty much burn the left over tomato plants in the Spring. Because we are in Minnesota we let out tomato plants keep going until the killing frost to get the maximum amount of tomatoes. I've heard that you can get tomato blight if you compost the tomato vines. The chickens working on it might really help? By Spring the left-over tomato vines here have black spots on the dried up vines. I just pull them out and burn them. thanks for this Hollars!

I miss you guys when you don't post, but I also appreciate that you need regular breaks. I don't want you to get burnt out! You are like my friends that I haven't met! I live vicariously through you sometimes 😆
Anyway I think you could cut out the wheelbarrow part of the chicken compost maybe! If you could figure out a way to have a lifting gate near the outside compost pile, you could have the centre chicken pile closer to the corner and just shovel it straight through the lifting gate into the newly emptied outside compost bin? Anyway just an idea from a lazy friend! xx

It’s good to see your boys working with you. Please show them more in your vlog. Love your family.

You need a door or hatch on the back side of your run to access your compost bin on the back side. Looks like alot of trips back and forth. A little hatch in the corner would eliminate wagons. I need to do this when my chickens are finally contained!

You guys are an absolute inspiration to me. You guys remind me of me and my husband more than you can imagine lol.
I'm so glad you guys are all okay from your car accident. I look forward to your videos every day you post, and I've been binge-watching all your old videos. We had a major medical problem come up for one of our children (who's a little older than Buggy) that will be intensive and ongoing for a few years. Your videos are one of the only things that relaxes me with all the medical things we have to do with our child, on top of daily tasks with our other children. Thank you for going through all the trouble to record and edit everything you do each day for all to see. God bless you all!

I live in the ozarks of Missouri and I have removed my tomato plants for the year. But I also put in cauliflower flower cabbage and green beans for fall.
