@@refinebydesign3090 I've watched a few videos about it and P of P dries out quickly making it difficult to finish a project without having to mix more product.

Thanks for sharing! May I ask, could I use this under my top coat to distress a cabinet? Will it distress easier? Thanks for any insight you can offer. Take good care!
You can use 2 colors and distress back to the first color. Thank you for this video! Question. I am going to do some dining room chairs and want to distress them and show the dark in the sanded areas. Would it work out ok to do both the waxes and then put the polyurethane on top?
You can put wax on top of polyurethane but not the other way around. Nothing sticks to wax. So use the poly for the durability and put the colored wax on top of that. We now have chalk mix and waxes if you are interested. letsdiytogether.com
I love it. But every time I use sandpaper , scratches and scratches brightness appear on the chalk paint and chalk paint loosing chalk feature. Please help me..
Use fine grit sandpaper. In the final sanding you are just lightly knocking off imperfections on the top. When you wax the scratches should disappear. If you prefer the look without the final sanding that is fine as well. The important sanding is to prep the piece at the beginning.

calcium carbonate should indicate to you all,- me being a vitamin reiki person dont take this form of calcium it is also in wallboard hard to digest. so if this is in paint now omg use calcium citrate to ingest for vitamins intake for calcium, instead of the carbonate as it is harder to digest and absorb. other then that, this video is great paint info and video :) crudcutter is great. and i have also used plaster of paris in the flat paint to make for chalk pain. I like a clear poly coating but over time i noticed that and clear can turn amber yellowish color so now i leave is just clear flat matte coating i also noticed with clear wax that has to be kept up every sp often poly doesnt..i like your version better mixing paint thanks for sharing easy happy video
The chalk mix adds no odor to the paint you decide to use. I have used plaster of paris before I found this mix and that is why I was so excited about it! This is creamier and you can save extra paint in a sealed container and it will not harden like plater of paris home recipes.
hello. I used polyurethane clear satin as recommended by the sales person and I don't like the end result. It took three rustic look away and it now looks shinny. Did I purchase the wrong wax coating??
What did you paint? If it's a highly used piece like a table top or cabinets it needs the poly protection but on a normal furniture piece you should use wax to keep the rustic look. This is the type of wax letsdiytogether.com/products/4-oz-organic-furniture-wax Unfortunately you will have to sand off the poly and repaint to get the rustic look back.
I find the polyurethane can yellow over time... I like the polyacrylic matte finish if you want a more durable finish than wax...it has a slight sheen but not glossy...
The paint itself dries very quickly. After you wax it (or other sealer) I would give it 24 hours and you should be fine! Sorry for delay in response... if you have already finished I hope the project turned out awesome!
I now sell my own mix! Check it out at divaofdiy.com. You can use any flat latex paint, I use samples because they are cheaper and the chalk mix will be the bonding agent so you don't have to worry about using samples.
Hey hi, I tried this and the paint bubbled up, like how baking powder does in water and as I used it the colour completely faded. Am I to use latex paint only as I used normal paint we get in the uk? Did I put too much in I used 2 teaspoons in 40ml of acrylic paint.
I am not familiar with paint in the UK but if you are using normal wall paint I'm sure it's the same. We use 4TBL mix and 2TBL water to 1Cup of paint. Are you using straight calcium carbonate?
No you do not have to use a wax brush. You can use a soft cloth or cheesecloth. I like to use a wax brush because it uses less wax and it helps to burnish the wax in. Here is the one I use: letsdiytogether.com/products/wax-brush
Poppyhimbo you made me laugh because I was thinking the same the first time somebody told me “ it needed elbow grease” and I asked her where to buy that grease. She was laughing at me because this is a idiomatic English expresion which mean you have to work hard moving your arms. English is not my mothers tongue which means is not my primary language.
I now carry Non toxic wax on divaofdiy.com. It comes in clear and distressing colors! It's great wax, it has a citrus smell and it is water based so water clean up!

When I used this formula, the paint on my furniture felt very gritty. What could have caused that? What should I do now to redo the piece?
You should not have to redo it, just sand it down to a smooth finish with fine sandpaper. Then wax it to protect it.
What’s calcium carbianate? England!
When you say latex, do you have to ask for a specific finish such as flat or semi gloss?
Use flat or satin finish latex paint.
Thank you
Will satin paint still look satin or will it look flat?
It will have a chalky flat look
I going to do a dresser how long does it take to dry before I can sit my tv on top?
The paint itself dries very quickly. After you wax it (or other sealer) I would give it 24 hours and you should be fine! Sorry for delay in response... if you have already finished I hope the project turned out awesome!
Great video 👍🏽
what color paint is that?
do you think this recipe for chalk paint would work for painting fabric (using the chalk paint method)?
Yes. Here is a tutorial where I used it on fabric--> divaofdiy.com/upcycle-your-outdated-upholstery-with-paint/
is it possible to replace Carponate with powdered chalk?
it's the same thing.
It's use the ready chalk paint painting without sanding? If DIY chalk paint need sand before paint? Thanks
I recommend always doing a light sanding with any paint, including chalk paint.
Hi where can you get calcium carbonate from I would also like to know what kind of paint and what kind of latex paint to make the chalk paint
I now sell my own mix! Check it out at divaofdiy.com. You can use any flat latex paint, I use samples because they are cheaper and the chalk mix will be the bonding agent so you don't have to worry about using samples.
Diva your own mix prices are outrageous!
I am confused, other sites say 2 tab calcium 1 tab water
That’s probably why she has to sand - her recipe is rougher
Hey hi, I tried this and the paint bubbled up, like how baking powder does in water and as I used it the colour completely faded. Am I to use latex paint only as I used normal paint we get in the uk? Did I put too much in I used 2 teaspoons in 40ml of acrylic paint.
I am not familiar with paint in the UK but if you are using normal wall paint I'm sure it's the same. We use 4TBL mix and 2TBL water to 1Cup of paint. Are you using straight calcium carbonate?
Do I need to use a special brush to apply the wax? If so, why?
No you do not have to use a wax brush. You can use a soft cloth or cheesecloth. I like to use a wax brush because it uses less wax and it helps to burnish the wax in. Here is the one I use: letsdiytogether.com/products/wax-brush
Can this be used on fabric?
Yes. I have used it several times on my blog. divaofdiy.com/upcycle-your-outdated-upholstery-with-paint/
where do you get this "elbow grease" that you speak of? Is it like min-wax? lol
Poppyhimbo it means to sand. Because it's efforts on your elbow.
Thanks so much...💜looks real nice😇 GOD BLESD YOU
What kind of wax can you use
I now carry Non toxic wax on divaofdiy.com. It comes in clear and distressing colors! It's great wax, it has a citrus smell and it is water based so water clean up!
Hi. I have purchase specific paint valspar furniture paint can the CC be used with it?
Sorry for the delay. Somehow I missed your question. Yes it will work fine.
why do some recipes say 2 tablespoons?
