Incredible album. I branched out and over the years have loved most all of his work but I always find myself coming back to this one. So many great songs. Love Rock and Roll Suicide
I've owned, loved and played this LP and it's tracks since the 70's but even though I live in London it was still a proud moment when I found this doorway just off Regent Street last year and posed for a picture.
I wish you well; I hope it gets loads of views - this was highly accomplished, well produced and informative (I sound pompous, but I know a bit about it..). 52 years on this is one of his best songs. I've listened to it a great deal since 2020 Written during the years of Mutually Assured Destruction; who is not to say we're not back there? I wouldn't take the Glam Rock label too literally. A ton of talented people were fine to be associated with it, then discarded it like Kleenex tissue once it was done.
K west was a clothes designer at the time off regent street. The road is full of restaurants today but there is a plaque on the wall where Bowie is standing today.
This song is a setup for some of the songs that follow. Personally, of the themed albums, the more experimental _Aladdin_ _Sane_ and _Diamond_ _Dogs_ hold up best for me. _Scary_ _Monsters_ and this one probably tie for 3rd, so you picked a good one.
We had to chop out this _Five Years_ part from the next (Side 1) video (to avoid getting blocked) so it does not flow the way we would like or include all comments on Side 1.

David was a bloody genius.......RIP you marvelous human !
To answer your question, yes he did walk around in those one piece jumpsuits & platforms 😁
I love this song. It took my 45 years or so to finally get around to listening to this album, and it's amazing.

There's a great clip of him doing this song on here from the 70's and also one from Hunky Dory
Love this song
For me the Best album in history
Yes, it is the best album in history, but, in my opinion, David's best songs are not on this album

It was a clothing company in London. The photo was taken in Heddon Street in London.
